Robert Plant has long insisted he has no interest in reuniting with Led Zeppelin. In a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times, he again addressed the issue when it was suggested fans of his old band would love to hear him sing with the group once more.

“Going back to the font to get some kind of massive applause — it doesn’t really satisfy my need to be stimulated,” said Robert, who currently is touring the U.S. as a duo with acclaimed folk/bluegrass artist Alison Krauss in support of their 2021 album Raise the Roof.

When the interviewer asked if his reluctance to revisit his past glories “make you feel like an outlier among your classic-rock peers,” Robert responded, “I know there are people from my generation who don’t want to stay home, and so they go out and play. If they’re enjoying it and doing what they need to do to pass the days, then that’s their business, really.”

Meanwhile, Plant celebrated his 74th birthday on Saturday, August 20. To mark the occasion, he got a surprise visit from his son Logan and Logan’s two children while performing with Krauss in Stateline, Nevada.

As seen in fan-shot video posted on YouTube, Logan and his kids wheeled out a birthday cake and some golden balloons as Robert chatted to the audience between songs during the show.

“This is my family,” Robert told the crowd. “They’ve come all the way from England to give me … a chocolate microphone.” He then blew out the candles, before Logan led the audience in a rousing rendition of “Happy Birthday.”

Plant and Krauss’ tour continues Tuesday in Napa, California, and is scheduled to wrap up on September 12 in New York City.

Kate Bush‘s “Running Up That Hill” has run all the way to Wembley Stadium, courtesy of Coldplay.

Chris Martin and company put their spin on the 1985 single during their show at the famed London venue on Saturday. Not only that, they were joined by English actor Steve Coogan, who performed as his Alan Partridge character.

You can watch footage of the cover via Coldplay’s Twitter.

“Running Up That Hill,” of course, has become a resurgent hit over the past few months thanks to its placement in the new season of Stranger Things. The track has reached the top five on the Billboard Hot 100, a career-first for Bush.

Along with the “Running Up That Hill” cover, Coldplay and Coogan-as-Partridge covered ABBA‘s “Knowing Me, Knowing You,” according to Setlist.fm.

Coldplay’s show Saturday marked the penultimate date of their six-show residency at Wembley Stadium, the last of which took place Sunday.

Slipknot has premiered the video for “Yen,” a track off the band’s upcoming album, The End, So Far.

The clip, which was directed by percussionist M. Shawn “Clown” Crahan, has a real Jekyll and Hyde vibe, cutting between a buttoned-up and glasses-wearing Corey Taylor, and him rocking out in his Knot mask and jumpsuit getup. Are there also creepy contortionist dancers and a whole lot of fire? You’d better believe it!

You can watch the “Yen” video streaming now on YouTube.

The End, So Far, the follow-up to 2019’s We Are Not Your Kind, is due out September 30. It also includes the previously released tracks “The Dying Song (Time to Sing)” and “The Chapeltown Rag.”

Slipknot will hit the road in support of The End, So Far on their fall Knotfest Roadshow tour, launching September 20 in Nashville.

Harry Styles reacts to fans being cruel to Olivia Wilde online: “That obviously doesn’t make me feel good”
Amanda Fordyce

If you’re a Harry Styles stan who likes to say mean things about his girlfriend Olivia Wilde on Twitter or TikTok, you should know that isn’t exactly the way to get on his good side.

In his global cover story for Rolling Stone, Harry comments on online trolls who’ve made fun of Olivia’s dancing or attempted to cancel her for jokes she made years ago by saying, “That obviously doesn’t make me feel good.”

He adds, “It’s obviously a difficult feeling to feel like being close to me means you’re at the [mercy] of a corner of Twitter or something. I just wanted to sing. I didn’t want to get into it if I was going to hurt people like that.”

In fact, Harry says it’s pretty upsetting that he has to warn anyone he’s involved with that they may be the target of online hate.  As he puts it, “Can you imagine going on a second date with someone and being like, ‘OK, there’s this corner of the thing, and they’re going to say this, and it’s going to be really crazy, and they’re going to be really mean, and it’s not real…But anyway, what do you want to eat?’”

For her part, Olivia tells Rolling Stone that barring some “toxic negativity,” she believes that most of Harry’s fans are “true champions of kindness.”

Harry also reveals that the reason he’s doing extended residencies in select cities — as he’s currently doing in New York’s Madison Square Garden — is that it’ll give him time to write and record his next album, the follow-up to Harry’s House

Harry says, “I think all of us are so excited to get back to it, which feels insane because we’ve just put an album out.”

BLACKPINK‘s “Pink Venom” has seeped its way into YouTube history.

Variety reports that the video for the K-pop group’s new song, which dropped at midnight on Friday, racked up 86.2 million views in its first 24 hours on the platform, and topped the 100-million view mark within 30 hours of its release.

That makes it the most-viewed music video on YouTube so far this year, and number four YouTube’s all-time 24 hour views list, which has yet to be updated with the new stats.

The only videos that have earned more views than “Pink Venom” within 24 hours are BTS‘ “Butter” and “Dynamite,” which reached 108.2 million views and 101.1 million views, respectively, and BLACKPINK’s own “How You Like That,” which hit 86.3 million views back in June of 2020.  BLACKPINK’s collab with Selena Gomez, “Ice Cream,” is in fifth place with 79 million views.

“Pink Venom” is from BLACKPINK’s new album Born Pink, due out September 16.

Sam Hunt and Hannah Lee Fowler’s relationship has had its fair share of ups and downs — many of which have been memorialized in his hit songs — and the pair almost called it quits in February.

Hannah filed for divorce at that time, citing “inappropriate marital conduct” and “adultery” as the reason she was seeking a split from Sam.

The court documents also revealed that Hannah was pregnant, a fact that the superstar pair hadn’t shared with fans. But as they got closer to the birth of their first child in late spring, the couple reconciled, with Hannah filing for a judge to dismiss her divorce petition.

Of course, that doesn’t mean that their relationship is back to smooth sailing: According to US Weekly, an inside source says they’re working hard on rebuilding their bond.

“Their relationship is a work in progress,” the source explains. “He’s hoping to get to a point where he and Hannah can go back to the way things were before she filed for divorce.”

In musical news, Sam recently dropped his latest tune, “Water Under the Bridge.” Plus, “Wishful Drinking,” his duet with Ingrid Andress, recently cracked the top 10 at country radio.

Before he shredded Metallica‘s “Master of Puppets” in the Upside Down, Joseph Quinn was rocking to Nirvana.

The actor, who plays the Dungeons & Dragons-loving metalhead Eddie Munson in the latest season of Stranger Things, tells Metal Hammer that the “Smells Like Teen Spirit” outfit was his “first proper band obsession.”

“I was obsessed with Kurt Cobain and had all of his posters in my wall,” Quinn reveals. “It’s kind of cliché, but it’s true.”

Quinn also names Jimi Hendrix as one of his “guitar heroes,” sharing, “I was always very enamored with him.”

When it came to preparing to play Eddie, though, Quinn turned to the heavy stuff.

“I listened to Master of Reality by Black Sabbath over and over,” Quinn says. “Master of Puppets, as well, Slayer … all that kind of stuff. That was my way into that whole world, really. Black Sabbath were my guys, and Led Zeppelin, too, but I guess they’re less metal.”

Quinn’s performance of Metallica’s “Master of Puppets” in the season 4 finale of Stranger Things led to renewed interest in the 1986 thrash classic, which made its first appearance on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100 chart following the episode’s premiere. The season also made a resurgent hit out of Kate Bush‘s “Running Up That Hill,” which has run up all the way to the top five on the Hot 100.

Stranger Things season 4 is streaming now on Netflix.

Ex-Fleetwood Mac member Lindsey Buckingham lines up fall US solo tour

ABC/Eric McCandless

Former Fleetwood Mac singer/guitarist Lindsey Buckingham has announced plans for a new fall U.S. solo tour, which features 17 dates at venues throughout the Eastern U.S., as well as some gigs in the Midwest.

The outing kicks off October 26 in Bristol, Tennessee, and runs through a November 19 show in Augusta, Georgia.

Earlier this year, Buckingham canceled a trio of concerts at the end of his spring U.S. tour leg — including an April 30 performance in Louisville, Kentucky — because he and members of his touring party contracted COVID-19. Lindsey now has lined up a new show in Louisville, on October 27, but at a different venue.

The new U.S. tour takes place after Buckingham’s fall European trek, which originally was scheduled for late spring, but was postponed because Lindsey was still recovering from COVID at the time.

The forthcoming European outing is mapped out from a September 19 concert in Paris through an October 6 show in Dublin.

Visit LindseyBuckingham.com to check out Buckingham’s full schedule and for information about how to purchase tickets to the concerts.

Lindsey’s shows are in support of his latest solo studio album, a self-titled effort that was released in September 2021.

Tyler Hubbard‘s inviting you to go Dancin’ in the Country as he gets ready for his fall tour.

The Florida Georgia Line frontman’s full-length debut is set to arrive in early 2023, but once he got the invitation to head out with a certain Aussie superstar, he couldn’t help but unleash the Dancin’ EP.

“I’m finished with the album,” Tyler explains. “I have the whole thing mixed and mastered and all 18 songs are done. So I’m sitting on them, and I just really … didn’t want to wait any longer until January.”

“But then we got the Keith [Urban] tour,” he continues, “and I thought, ‘We’ve gotta put some songs out because I want the fans to know some songs that I’m gonna play on tour.'” In order to support the tour, he says they decided to release more music so fans can get to know the songs and “hopefully be able to sing along with when I’m out with Keith.”

Not only will Tyler hit the road with Keith, but the “Brown Eyes Baby” guitar slinger also co-wrote the EP’s title track. So will Keith play it with him on tour? Tyler promises he’ll try to talk Keith into making an appearance. “He’s such a cool dude … And yeah, no telling, he’ll probably come out and play the whole set with me, knowing Keith.”

“I love him,” the “5 Foot 9” hitmaker adds. “He’s awesome. And it was so much fun working with him and getting to write this song. It’s actually the first song we’ve written together, so I’m excited to write some more on the road this fall.”

The Speed of Now World Tour kicks off September 3 in Mountain View, California.
