Ashley Judd takes an unflinching look back at the traumatic final moments of Naomi Judd’s life in a new op-ed penned for The New York Times.

In it, she recounts the experience of finding her mother, who died by suicide: “The trauma of discovering and then holding her laboring body haunts my nights.”

She recalls feeling forced into cooperating with an investigation in the immediate aftermath of that devastating experience — never realizing, at the time, that the information she divulged could be made public.

“I felt cornered and powerless as law enforcement officers began questioning me while the last of my mother’s life was fading,” she writes, saying that she was forced to give four interviews to police the same day that Naomi died.

In the wake of the country legend’s death, her family members headed to court in an attempt to keep the records of Naomi’s death investigation sealed from the public. At the time of the op-ed’s publication, the family was still awaiting the court’s decision.

In the Times, she explains that privacy surrounding the day of Naomi’s death is an important part of preserving her dignity.

“And for those left behind, privacy avoids heaping further harm upon a family that is already permanently and painfully altered,” she continues.

Naomi died by suicide on April 30 at the age of 76. She used a firearm to end her life, a detail that Ashley subsequently shared during an emotional Good Morning America interview. The day after her death, Naomi and her daughter Wynonna were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame for their work as The Judds.

Miley Cyrus sells her Tennessee home for a whopping $14.5 million

Miley Cyrus deposited an impressive $14.5 million into her bank account after selling her home in Franklin, Tennessee.

Dirt reports the “Malibu” hitmaker can now claim to have the second-highest real estate deal of the year.

Reese Witherspoon has her beat after buying a home in an affluent Nashville neighborhood of Belle Meade.

It also should be noted Miley bought the home in 2017 for a deal — $5.8 million dollars, meaning she inflated the house’s price by a whopping 150 percent. Even better, Miley didn’t have to deal with open houses and showings to sell her home because this deal was made entirely off the market.

The five-bedroom, five-bathroom farmhouse-style home sits on a 33.5-acre lot. The abode offers roughly 7,000 square feet of living space as well as a detached barn-style guest house, which the publication believes could have been used as a recording studio.

The home sits at the end of a cul-de-sac and is fully gated. It offers 2 powder rooms, a kitchen with premium appliances, a master suite on the main floor with a soaking tub as well as a swimming pool and putting green.

Dirt also found out who bought the house: It’s Dairy Queen mogul Matt Frauenshuh, who owns the biggest DQ franchise in the world with over 200 stores.

This isn’t the only home Miley has parted ways with recently. She sold her home in Hidden Hills for $7.2 million last year and unloaded her home in Malibu for $1.7 million in 2020.

When Jon Pardi drops his Mr. Saturday Night album on Friday, he’ll likely turn some heads with one song on the album: There’s a track on the project called “Reverse Cowgirl.”

According to CMT, however, Jon says that the song’s subject matter isn’t what some fans might think.

“It’s the best, dirtiest, cleanest thing you can have,” the singer describes. “It’s got a funny, humorous twist to it, but it’s also really pretty and really romantic in a way.”

The song’s also a big favorite with other country artists, Jon continues. “Jake Owen made sure he called every three months until he knew I recorded that song,” he remembers. “He’s like, ‘Well, if you don’t want it, you know I want that song!’”

Jake’s not the only one. “Chase Rice texts me like, ‘Dude, did you record ‘Reverse Cowgirl’ yet? I cannot wait!’” Jon goes on to say.

Mr. Saturday Night also contains Jon’s latest chart-topping hit, “Last Night Lonely.”

Mariah Carey tells Meghan Markle being labeled a diva is both a compliment and a criticism

Mariah Carey is a guest on the latest episode of Archetypes, Meghan Markle’s podcast. The two women bond over being biracial, but also discuss a word that’s been used to describe both of them over the years: diva. Mariah says she doesn’t mind being called that, but she also doesn’t like its negative connotations.

The word originally meant a very talented women, usually in the arts, like an opera singer. Mariah tells Meghan, “People take it as a compliment now, some people, and then some people take it as, ‘Oh, she’s such a diva.'” When Meghan asks her if it’s a compliment or a criticism, Mariah says, “I think it’s both. For me, it’s both.”

Mariah says growing up, she used to hear her mom, who was an opera singer, describe friends as “very much the diva,” so she wasn’t entirely sure if it was a good thing or a bad thing. Of course, she now knows the origin of “diva,” but notes that it’s become an insult in the past 20 years or so.

“It became, like … they mean you’re a successful woman, usually,” she tells Meghan. “But also … a b***h. Like, it’s not O.K. for you to be a boss. It’s not O.K. for you to be a strong woman.” Mariah admits that most of the time, her super-extra diva behavior is “for laughs,” and her fans know it.

When asked by Meghan to describe herself in three words, Mariah doesn’t choose diva. Instead, she says, “Exhausted, angry…yet hopeful … But if I have to describe the whole thing, it’s faith, honestly.”

You can listen to the entire discussion now wherever you get your podcasts.

Taylor Swift seemingly confirms fan theory about the “Lover” house

Taylor Swift has responded to a creative fan theory about the house featured in her 2019 “Lover” music video.

The Grammy winner hit the like button on a fan’s TikTok video that shared a theory that every room featured in the “Lover” house symbolized a different album of hers. Each of the nine rooms offers a different color and motif, which the fan thinks are clues about what album they embody.

For example, the dimly lit attic symbolized the 2017 album Reputation, while the red entertaining space is — of course — Red. The fan also suggested that the black-and-white staircase represented folklore, the sepia-toned closet was evermore and, finally, the starry night sky symbolizes Taylor’s forthcoming album Midnights.

Midnights will be her 10th studio album.

While the “Shake It Off” singer did not confirm the theory outright, fans are taking her small interaction as her way of confirming the fan’s theory. They also say this means Taylor’s “Lover” house is now complete.

Taylor also liked another fan theory that Dylan O’Brien, who starred in the 14-minute music video for “All Too Well,” may have enjoyed a sneak peek of the upcoming album.

Speaking of MidnightsHeidi Klum and Sofia Vergara poked fun at the album art by making their own parody on Twitter.  It shows them Photoshopped onto the album cover, both chomping on the same cracker, with the title “Midnightsnacks.”

Taylor announced Midnights, which arrives October 21, at the VMAs on Sunday.

Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson will receive a special honor at the 24th Annual Ann Liguori Foundation Charity Golf Classic event, which will take place September 22 at the Maidstone Club in East Hampton, New York.

The annual fundraiser, organized by veteran sports broadcaster and talk-show host Ann Liguori, benefits various cancer-related charities, including the Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and East End Hospice.

Lifeson, who in addition to his well-known career as a rock musician is an avid golfer, will be presented with the 2022 ALF Music Honoree Award at the charity event’s Award’s Dinner following the golf tournament. The benefit will also feature a silent auction.

“[Cancer] is a disease we are all too familiar with,” says Liguori in a statement. “We are all directly or indirectly affected by this dreadful disease and anything we can do to fight cancer has been a mission of mine for decades since our family lost my Dad to cancer in 1981. We also lost my brother to leukemia when he was 22. My sister Jean, brother Dan and I, are committed to this cause forever.”

Lifeson, along with his Rush bandmate Geddy Lee, is also scheduled to take part in the two star-studded tribute concerts the Foo Fighters have organized in honor of their late drummer Taylor Hawkins. The shows will take place on September 3 at Wembley Stadium in London and on September 27 at the Kia Forum near Los Angeles.

The numbers have been crunched and the Songs of Summer 2022 have been revealed — at least on Spotify. The digital music platform unveiled its annual lists of the most-streamed songs in the U.S. and globally this summer.

The most-streamed song of Summer 2022 in the U.S. was a 37-year-old track by a 64-year-old British singer: Kate Bush‘s “Running Up That Hill (A Deal with God)” absolutely ruled Spotify.

Thanks to its inclusion in the latest season of Stranger Things, people couldn’t get enough of the song, which originally appeared on Bush’s 1985 album Hounds of Love. In fact, first-time streams from listeners aged 24 and under increased more than 7800% this summer, Spotify says.

The second-most streamed song of Summer 2022 was, unsurprisingly, “As It Was” by Harry Styles — after all, it’s also spent 11 non-consecutive weeks at number one on Billboard over the past few months. Harry also had the ninth most-streamed song: “Late Night Talking.”

The rest of the top 10 includes two Bad Bunny tracks — “Me Porto Bonito” and “Tití Me Preguntó” — as well as Joji‘s “Glimpse of Us,” Steve Lacy‘s “Bad Habit,” Drake’s “Jimmy Cooks,” Post Malone and Doja Cat‘s “I Like You (A Happier Song)” and Lizzo’s “About Damn Time.”

Globally, Harry and Kate flipped positions, with “As It Was” topping the Song of Summer 2022 chart and “Running Up that Hill” taking the number two spot. The rest of the Global top 10 includes five songs by Bad Bunny plus Glass Animals‘ deathless track “Heat Waves,” “Glimpse of Us” and “Quevedo: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 52” by Bizarrap and Quevedo.
