Dio‘s Holy Diver is being reissued in honor of what would’ve been the late Ronnie James Dio‘s 80th birthday.

The set will arrive on July 8, two days before Dio would’ve hit the big 8-0 on July 10. It will come in two editions: the first features a new mix of the original record by engineer and producer Joe Barresi, who’s previously worked with the bands Tool, Queens of the Stone Age and Slipknot; the second, dubbed the “Super Deluxe” edition, consists of the Barresi mix and a remastered version of the original Holy Diver mix, plus various bonus tracks, including live recordings, outtakes and rarities.

For a preview, you can check out the Barresi mix of the Holy Diver title track now via digital outlets.

Holy Diver, Dio’s debut album with his namesake band, was released in 1983 after he left Black Sabbath a year earlier. In addition to spawning the classic title track, the double-Platinum Holy Diver features one of the most metal album covers of all time.

Dio passed away in May 2010 from stomach cancer. He was 67.

After teasing a new solo chapter for several weeks, Tyler Hubbard finally introduced fans to his first single as a solo artist Friday. Called “5 Foot 9,” it’s a mid-tempo, earthy celebration of all of life’s simple joys.

In the first verse of the song, Tyler rattles off all the things he’s grateful for — good music, good whiskey and country roads to ride along — and all the people responsible for creating them.

But the very best part of life is having a partner to share it with, he continues, and the only one that could have made a love story so perfect is God himself.

“God makes 5 foot 9, brown eyes and a sundress / Loves Tim McGraw and a small town accent,” he sings in the chorus. “Ain’t no way that me and this truck made her fall in love / Jack makes good whiskey, but God makes the good stuff.”

In a statement, Tyler — who co-wrote the song with The Cadillac Three’s Jaren Johnston and Chase McGill — says that he wrote “5 Foot 9” as a reminder about the importance of perspective.

“As much as the song talks about real-life stuff like whiskey, country music, dirt roads and rain, I want listeners to be reminded that God really does make the good stuff,” he notes. “For me, over the last couple of years, I’ve really been reminded of that.”

“5 Foot 9” is the first new song off Tyler’s upcoming solo album.

Tate McRae becomes a wanted woman in new video for “what would you do?”

In Tate McRae‘s new video for her song “what would you do?” she commits a crime that puts her face on the TV news — but it’s all just a revenge fantasy.

In the clip, Tate is working as a valet at a fancy, star-studded night spot and is treated badly by the customers. So when a jerk pulls up in a classic muscle car and rudely tosses her the keys, she takes them — and then takes the car on a joyride through the city.

Stopping at a wig shop, Tate sees that she’s on TV with the headline “Valet steals car,” but the shop owner doesn’t care. In fact, she fixes Tate up with a new outfit and a purple wig. Tate returns to the nightspot, strides in on the red carpet, finds the car owner and drops his keys in his drink. She storms out, just as the wig shop owner pulls up in a convertible. Tate hops in and they drive away.

Then, Tate snaps back to reality: It was all in her imagination. As the credits roll, we hear a snippet of one of Tate’s other new songs, “don’t come back.”

Both “what would you do?” — co-written by Tate, Charlie Puth and Alexander 23 — and “don’t come back” appear on Tate’s debut album, i used to think i could fly, which arrives May 27.

Following last weekend’s mass shooting in Buffalo, New York — in which 18-year-old Payton Gendron allegedly killed 10 Black shoppers in what’s been described as a racially motivated shooting — one famous Buffalo artist says the event has sent “shockwaves through the whole community.”

The Goo Goo Dolls’ John Rzeznik, born and raised in Buffalo, tells ABC Audio, “I feel mostly for the community that it’s in and the people who live and work and shop in that neighborhood.”

The shooting took place at a Tops supermarket, a local chain, and John notes, “[It’s] such an important sort of anchor for that community, because there’s not a lot of big supermarkets in that neighborhood. There aren’t any, other than that one.”

Indeed, since the supermarket’s been closed, local organizations have had to step in to provide food for the locals. John says, “My biggest hope is that they keep that store open, because that community really needs that.” He also says he and his Goo Goo Dolls bandmates are “willing and available” to do a benefit, if asked.

But earlier this week, John had happier news in another part of the state: He was in New York City to be honored as Rocker of the Year at the Little Kids Rock 20th anniversary benefit. The nonprofit supports music education in public schools nationwide.

“It’s something that we wanted to get more involved with. I was pretty surprised that I was going to be one of the honorees. I thought that was really cool,” John tells ABC Audio.

But it wasn’t that cool for John’s daughter, Lilliana, who accompanied him.

“I asked her, ‘Well, did you like when I was singing?’ And she said to me, ‘I don’t like when your hair is in your eyes,'” he laughs. “That’s typical. You know, she’s my kid. I’m her dad … I don’t think she gets it. I don’t think she’s all that impressed with it!”

Luke Combs is one of many artists from all music genres signing on to participate in Here to Help, a charity initiative that benefits mental health initiatives, such as the Recording Academy’s MusiCares and the Mental Wealth Alliance.

Fans can donate to the cause for a chance to meet Luke at a stop on his upcoming Middle of Somewhere Tour. And that’s just one of several incentive prizes available for those who choose to donate to the initiative. Also on offer is a chance to meet KISS at the Louder Than Life Festival in September; a virtual studio hang with benny blanco; and an all-expense-paid trip to London with a VIP experience at Corey Taylor’s sold-out October 2022 London Palladium show.

The initiative comes during Mental Health Awareness Month, and for Luke, the cause is personal. He’s been open about his experience with obsessive-compulsive disorder, explaining in an early 2021 installment of The Big Interview With Dan Rather that he struggles with ruminating thoughts and health anxiety.

Luke’s also looking ahead to an exciting musical chapter, as his third studio album, Growin’ Up, is set to arrive next month.

As they gear up for a joint summer tour with Beach Boys legend Brian Wilson, Chicago has released its first new song in over eight years, a bouncy pop gem titled “If This Is Goodbye.”

The track is available now as a digital download and via streaming services, while a lyric video has debuted at Chicago’s official YouTube channel.

The song mixes the Rock & Roll Hall of Famers’ classic soulful, horn-driven sound with some electronic beats, with lyrics that seem to celebrate a long relationship that may be coming to an end.

“If this is goodbye, let’s take one more shot for the memories/ Life’s too short to be enemies,” the band sings in the chorus. “If this ends tonight, you can save your tears for the other guy/ I’ll see you in another life.”

Chicago has been playing “If This Is Goodbye” at its recent concerts.

The band’s joint tour with Wilson and his solo group kicks off on June 7 in Phoenix, although Chicago first has three headlining dates scheduled for May 20 in Greensboro, North Carolina; May 21 in Montgomery, Alabama; and May 22 in Jacksonville, Florida.

Check out the group’s full schedule at ChicagotheBand.com.

Melissa Etheridge will do a special guest performance with finalist Noah Thompson on Sunday’s American Idol finale.

American Idol tweeted the news in a video where judge Katy Perry told Leah Marlene that they’d be singing “Firework” together, and Luke Bryan told HunterGirl that they’d be singing the Randy Travis hit “I Told You So” as a duet. Katy then told Noah he’d be singing with Melissa, and he shrugged and said, “Sounds good!”

Melissa responded, “That moment when you realize the other two finalists are singing with the judges and you are singing with…what’s her name again?” She added, “don’t worry @noahthompsonmu1 we are gonna rock the finals.”

Noah replied, “I can’t wait Melissa I really can’t, looking forward to meeting you and cannot wait for this duet.”

Either Noah, Leah or HunterGirl will be crowned the American Idol on Sunday night, and Melissa is just one of the stars who’ll be appearing on the finale. The lineup also includes judge Lionel Richie performing, plus country superstar Thomas Rhett, Michael Bublé, Sara Bareilles, Flo Rida and Earth, Wind and Fire.

The American Idol season 20 finale airs live Sunday, May 22, at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.

Stop us if you’ve heard this one before: The Cure‘s next album will be released later this year.

Frontman Robert Smith has been teasing the follow-up to 2008’s 4:13 Dream dating back to at least 2019, when he told NME that he was “intent” on releasing a new Cure record by the end of that year.

Well, it’s now 2022, and Smith is once again telling the U.K. publication that The Cure will release a new album before the year is over.

“We will be releasing a new album,” Smith says. “I get fed up of saying this now! We will be playing from October and the new album will be out before then.”

Smith describes the record, which is currently titled Songs of a Lost World, as “pretty relentless,” correctly asserting that vibe “will appeal to the hardcore of our audience.”

“I don’t think we’ll be getting any #1 singles off it or anything like that!” he laughs. “It’s been quite harrowing, like it has for everyone else.”

Meanwhile, Smith and longtime Cure bassist Simon Gallup were honored with the Music Icon Award at the 2022 Ivor Novello Awards, which were held earlier this week. The prestigious U.K. prize recognized the pair as “true cultural icons who have changed the face of popular music across the last four decades as songwriters for The Cure.”

Doja Cat found out the hard way that infected tonsils and vaping don’t mix.

On Thursday, she tweeted, “dr. just had to cut into my left tonsil. i had an abscess in it. my whole throat is f***ed so i might have some bad news for yall coming soon.”

The “Say So” singer explained, “So my tonsils got infected before [the] bbmas and i was taking…antibiotics but forgot that i was taking them and then i drank wine and was vaping all day long and then i started getting a nasty a** growth on my tonsil so they had to do surgery on it today.”

Doja then decided to get graphic, writing, “he poked up in dere with a needle twice and then sucked all the juice out and then he took a sharp thing and cut it in two places and squoze all the goop out in dere. i cried and it hurt a lot but im ok.”

She revealed she’s planning to get her tonsils removed “very soon,” but meanwhile, she noted, “im quitting the vape for a while and hopefully i dont crave it anymore after that…im too scared to hit it cuz my throat hurts so bad. i cried for hours. its not worth it.”

“its like imagine all that weird poisonous s*** in the vape seeping into the completely open wound in my throat,” she continued. “like f*** that. im hella young.”

When fans suggested Doja throw her vape away, she responded, “I’ma try to go cold turkey for now but hopefully my brain doesn’t need it at all by then… Right now I NEED THEM.”

She also admonished those fans for being “condescending to anybody who’s actually struggling with nicotine addiction,” but thanked others for their support and reassurance.
