Lizzo drops new anthem “Grrrls”

Lizzo dishes all about her best friendships in her new single “Grrrls,” which dropped Friday.

In the new track, the rapper and singer gushes about female friendships and how they have each other’s backs, singing in the pre-chorus, “‘Cause that’s my girl, we codependent / If she with it, then I’m with it.”

“Yeah, we tussle, mind your business,” she continues. “That’s my girl, we CEOs / And dancin’ like a C-E-ho.”

Prior to the release, Lizzo teased the track, twerking in an Instagram video while dressed in lavender set from her shapewear line Yitty.

“Pre save Special to hear the whole song Fridayyyyy,” she geo-tagged the snippet.

“Grrrls” is the second single to be released ahead of Lizzo’s upcoming fourth studio album, Special, which is due out July 15. The first single “About Damn Time” dropped April 14.

Ringo Starr NFTs being auctioned Monday; Starr approves of virtual gallery created in conjunction with sale

Bidding on Ringo Starr‘s first-ever collection of NFTs closes this Monday, June 13, at 11 a.m. PT.

The “Ringo Starr NFT Collection — The Creative Mind of a Beatle” includes five unique NFTs, each featuring an animated version of a painting created by the legendary drummer, and most soundtracked by a custom-made drum track played by Starr.

Those who purchase an NFT also will receive a 25-by-25-inch canvas print of the artwork signed by Ringo, and will be given access to a virtual gallery of Starr’s digital art called “RingoLand.”

The paintings that serve as the basis for the NFTs include self portraits and colorful spin art.

During a recent press event in Rama, Canada, promoting the launch of Ringo’s current tour with his All Starr Band, Starr talked about the virtual gallery created to display his digital art in conjunction with the NFT auction.

“It was just a great idea,” Ringo said. “And, you know, it’s not even there. It’s a fantasy just on your computer. And [an avatar of me is] walking around looking at my paintings, and you can do the same.”

A total of 20 NFT packages — four of each of the five pieces — will be auctioned as part of the sale, which is being hosted by Julien’s Auctions. Bids can be placed at JuliensLive.com. You also can check out videos of Ringo’s animated artwork at that website and on YouTube.

A portion of the proceeds raised by the auction will benefit Ringo’s Lotus Foundation, which funds and supports charitable projects that focus on various social welfare causes.

Ringo and his All Starr Band’s tour continues tonight in Red Bank, New Jersey. Since Tuesday, Edgar Winter has been sitting out the shows after testing positive for COVID-19.

Green Day to be honored at 2022 ‘Kerrang!’ Awards with Icon Award

Green Day will be presented with the Icon Award by the British publication Kerrang! at the 2022 Kerrang! Awards.

In a statement, Kerrang! editor Luke Morton says the prize recognizes Green Day’s “longevity and legacy as one of the greatest and most important acts in the history of rock and alternative music, who still captivate and electrify millions of fans all over the world with the power of punk rock.”

Previous Kerrang! Icon winners include Led Zeppelin‘s Jimmy Page, Blink-182 and the Ramones.

The 2022 Kerrang! Awards take place June 23.

Green Day, meanwhile, just launched a European tour. They’ll reunite with Fall Out Boy and Weezer later this month to launch the European leg of the Hella Mega Tour, which kicked off in the U.S. last summer.

Carrie Underwood’s finally putting out a record that she describes as a “sing-into-your-hairbrush” album: Denim & Rhinestones.

The track list takes cues from all different genres and is full of fun. Whether it’s the high drama of “She Don’t Know” and “Ghost Story,” a retro banger like “Crazy Angels” or the ‘80s vibes of the title track, Denim & Rhinestones delivers a good time from start to finish, and that’s intentional.

“That’s what I wanted to do from the beginning, when, you know, we had nothing — a complete blank piece of paper,” Carrie says. “And that’s what my co-producer, David Garcia, asked: ‘What do you wanna do?’ And I said, ‘I wanna have fun. I wanna have fun.’”

It’s been a while since Carrie truly got to let loose on an album. Her last two projects had fallen more on the serious side: She put out her Christmas album, My Gift, followed by her gospel project, My Savior.

“And I just felt like that, coupled with the past couple of years of not being able to tour and do all that stuff we normally do — I was like, ‘I am looking forward to going out on the road. I need happiness in life,’” the singer continues. “I just felt like I wanted to have fun and be positive and be happy.”

Carrie will keep the party going this fall when she heads out on The Denim & Rhinestones Tour, which kicks off in mid-October and features direct support from Jimmie Allen.

Britney Spears marries Sam Asghari nearly 9 months after announcing engagement

Britney Spears and Sam Asghari are officially married.

The couple tied the knot during an intimate ceremony in Los Angeles on Thursday, a source close to the couple tells ABC News.

Around 60 guests were in attendance, including Drew Barrymore, Madonna, Paris Hilton and Kathy Hilton,” insiders tell People magazine.

Spears wore a gown by famed fashion house Versace and walked down the aisle to Elvis Presley‘s “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” added the source.

Her sons Sean Preston, 16, and Jayden James, 15, were not in attendance at the wedding but are “happy” for their mom, a lawyer for Kevin Federline told People on Thursday.

Spears, 40, and Asghari, 28, got engaged in September 2021 when the Iranian-born fitness instructor and actor proposed to the “Toxic” singer.

The pair first met on the set of the pop star’s “Slumber Party” music video in 2016.

During their relationship, Asghari stood by Spears during her conservatorship drama. Spears told a court in June 2021 she wanted to “get married and have a baby” but was unable to do so under the conservatorship. Spears’ conservatorship, which was established in 2008, was terminated in November 2021.

Asghari recently teased fans that the two had decided on a wedding date. “Our lives have been a real life fairytale,” he shared via a since-expired Instagram Stories post in May. “Also the big day has been set! But nobody will know until the day after.”

This is the third marriage for Spears, who shares sons Sean Preston, 16, and Jayden James, 15, with ex-husband Kevin Federline.

The Temptations welcome new member Jawan M. Jackson, former cast member of group’s Broadway musical

The Temptations just kicked off a new run of U.S. dates as part of their 60th anniversary tour.

The legendary Motown group, led by sole surviving founding member Otis Williams, recently added a new bass vocalist to the lineup, Jawan M. Jackson. Jackson was part of the original cast of the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical Ain’t Too Proud: The Life and Times of The Temptations.

Jackson made his live Temptations debut on Wednesday at a concert in Edmonds, Washington, and the tour continues Thursday night in Olympia, Washington. The group has over 20 upcoming U.S. gigs this year, scheduled through a September 11 show in Macon, Georgia. Several of the shows will see The Temptations teaming up with The Beach Boys.

In addition to Williams and Jackson, the current Temptation lineup features longtime lead singers Ron Tyson and Terry Weeks, as well as Anthony “Tony” Grant, who joined the group last year.

Dead & Company’s upcoming US summer shows available for livestream

Grateful Dead spinoff group Dead & Company will make available livestreams of all 20 shows on their 2022 U.S. summer tour at the nugs.net concert-streaming service.

The trek kicks off this Saturday, June 11, at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles and runs through a July 15-16 stand at Citi Field in New York City. The tour also features several other two-show engagements — on June 13-14 in Mountain View, California; June 17-18 in Boulder, Colorado; and June 24-25 at Chicago’s Wrigley Field.

Streams of the concerts will be available in HD and 4K formats, priced at $29.99 and $44.99, respectively, per show. Those who subscribe to nugs.net will get a 15% discount on single-show purchases. Also available is the Summer 2022 Unlimited Devotion Pass, which gives fans access to livestreams of all 20 concerts. The shows can be watched live or on demand and will be available for replay viewing for 48 hours.

The livestreams can be watched on Apple and Android devices, or desktop browsers, and viewers will be able to interact with each other in nugs.net’s metaverse venue.

As previously reported, during the new trek Dead & Company will continue its sustainability partnership with the nonprofit organization REVERB. The band has committed to a comprehensive carbon offset program while also encouraging fans to take action to help the environment via the organization’s Music Climate Revolution campaign.

The summer outing will mark the band’s seventh tour since the its 2015 formation. The group’s lineup features Grateful Dead members Bob Weir, Bill Kreutzmann and Mickey Hart, as well as singer/guitarist John Mayer, ex-Allman Brothers Band bassist Oteil Burbridge and RatDog keyboardist Jeff Chimenti.

Coheed and Cambria adds Alkaline Trio to tour, announces ’Vaxis II’ release day streaming event

Alkaline Trio has joined the bill for Coheed and Cambria‘s upcoming summer tour.

Matt Skiba and company take the place of Dance Gavin Dance. Coheed announced earlier this week that Dance Gavin Dance had been removed from the tour following allegations of sexual assault against DGD’s now-former vocalist, Tilian Pearson.

The Coheed tour begins July 12 in Miami. The “Welcome Home” outfit will be supporting their upcoming album Vaxis II: A Window of the Waking Mind, due out June 24.

In related news, Coheed has announced a special streaming event to celebrate the Vaxis II release date. The virtual show will feature a full-band acoustic performance recorded at the Rough Trade NYC record store.

Listen to Halsey’s new single “So Good” now

After going viral on TikTok by complaining that their record company wouldn’t release their new song unless they went viral on TikTok, Halsey has finally dropped the song in question: “So Good.”

The official video for the track, which was directed by Halsey’s parter Alev Aydin, will premiere tomorrow, June 10. Halsey had said that Alev, the father of their son Ender, is the subject of the song.

The song is about wanting someone who is unavailable, because they’re already in another relationship. “You’re all I think about and everywhere I look/I know it’s bad, but we could be so good,” Halsey sings.

Last year, Halsey told Allure, “Alev and I have been really good friends for four years. And when the stars aligned, our relationship became romantic and it was pretty evident that he and I were both, like, ‘Oh, my gosh! You’re the person I’m supposed to start a family with.'”

Halsey headlines New York City’s Governors Ball this Saturday, and the Hollywood Bowl in LA on June 21.

As previously reported, Halsey made headlines when they claimed that their label held up the release of a new single on the condition they fabricate a “fake viral moment on TikTok.”
