Halsey brought the ’80s to New York City when they took over the Governors Ballstage over the weekend. The Grammy nominee decided to include Kate Bush‘s “Running Up That Hill (A Deal with God)” in their set, which drove the crowd wild.

Bush’s 1985 hit is enjoying a renaissance after Netflix’s Stranger Things featured it in its newest season, which has sparked countless memes, TikTok videos and more. The song is shooting up the Billboard Hot 100 and exploded in popularity across major streaming services.  Now it’s also being covered by some of today’s top artists.

Fans captured video of Halsey’s weekend set, and the “Without Me” singer shared it onto their Twitter. Not only that, Halsey revealed just how much they love the nearly 40-year-old hit.

“Truly wish I wrote this song more than anything in the world,” Halsey wrote. “I’m soooo happy it’s having this resurgence. I knew immediately I wanted to do this.”

Some fans are also urging Halsey to officially release a cover of the song.

Bush’s “Running Up That Hill”peaked at number 30 on the Billboard Hot 100 back in 1985. Thanks to Stranger Things, the song has re-entered the music charts and now rests at number eight, becoming just the eighth song in Billboard Hot 100 history to make it into the top 10 upon a return to the chart.

Taylor Swift is more than just a singer —  she’s a director, too — and she’s opening up about the “imposter syndrome” she felt when adding that new title to her name.

During a screening of All Too Well: The Short Film at Tribeca Festival in New York City, the pop star, 32, shared how she became interested in working behind the camera.

“I was always curious,” she said, according to Variety. “I started to venture into the edit [for music videos] and making changes and meddling…it started with meddling.”

Swift, who wrote and directed the short film, added that she felt out of place at times.

“I had this imposter syndrome in my head saying, ‘No, you don’t do that. Other people do that who went to school to do that,'” she explained.

However, she isn’t letting her prior feelings stop her from continuing her work behind the scenes.

“It would be so fantastic to write and direct something…a feature,” she said. “I don’t see it being bigger, in terms of scale. I loved making a film that was so intimate.”

Carrie Underwood finds musical inspiration everywhere — it can be a line that pops into her head when she wakes up, or an off-hand comment from one of her kids — but the #1 surprising place she gets ideas is in the shower.

“I feel like I think a lot when I’m in the shower,” she tells Jimmie Allen during a new interview between the two country stars for Entertainment Tonight.

“I feel like I have to stop what I’m doing and grab my phone, all sopping wet, and type something down,” she continues.

“And then you need a new phone,” Jimmie jokes. “Not anymore! They’re kinda waterproof,” Carrie shoots back.

The two artists aren’t just interview buddies and mutual fans — they’re also future tourmates. Jimmie will be the opening act on Carrie’s Diamond & Rhinestones Tour, which launches this October and runs into spring 2023.

Last month, Def Leppard released its 12th studio album, Diamond Star Halos, which debuted at #10 on the Billboard 200.

Not surprisingly, the 15-track collection is packed with revved-up rock anthems and tunes influenced by 70 glam rock. However, the group takes bit of a sonic detour on two tracks — “This Guitar” and “Lifeless” — melodic ballads that feature frontman Joe Elliott teaming up with Robert Plant‘s favorite duet partner, acclaimed country/bluegrass artist Alison Krauss.

Bassist Rick “Sav” Savage tells ABC Audio that the band decided to ask Krauss to contribute to the songs because they thought her voice would be perfect for the tunes, while also knowing that she was a longtime fan of the group.

“Well, she’s just got the voice of an angel,” Sav notes. “And we’ve known her for years and years and years. She actually interviewed Joe back in ’96 for Q magazine in England…So it was like, ‘Let’s just ask her,’ you know, guessing that she’d just say yes…And obviously, she was delighted to be involved.”

Elliott, meanwhile, tells ABC Audio that when the band sent Krauss the two songs, they initially intended have her just choose her favorite to sing on, but things worked out differently.

“[S]he says, ‘I can’t pick. I don’t know which one I want to do,'” Joe recalls. “So we just said, ‘Well, you want to do ’em both?’ And she was like, ‘Really? I would love to.'”

Elliot adds that he was impressed with how creative Krauss got with her vocal parts.

“[S]he comes back with not just the harmony vocal, but all these little counter melody arrangements of herself doing three-part harmonies,” Joe enthuses. “It’s like, what great work, you know?…[She] just colored it up really well.”

Robin Roberts recalls coming out to her sister

For People magazine‘s June Pride Month issueGood Morning America anchor Robin Roberts opens up about coming out to an important member of her family.

She recalls telling her sister Dorothy she was gay and the support she received as a result of speaking her truth.

“I decided to tell my sister Dorothy [when] I was in my 20s. I knew I had to tell her,” she said before delving into details of that moment. “We went out to lunch. I’ll never forget it. We’re sitting down, I’m working up the nerve, over sweet tea, to ‘spill the tea.’ And right when I say to her, just like out of the movies, ‘Dorothy, I’m gay,’ the server put down our lunch. Then he fiddled around for what felt like five minutes.”

Roberts said her sister responded by crying, but not because she was upset at the news. “I look at her and she goes, ‘Oh, oh, I’m not crying because you told me you’re gay. I’m crying because you love me enough to tell me that.'”

The 61-year-old TV host came out publicly in 2013, revealing Amber Laign as her longtime girlfriend in a Facebook status update about her health after a bone marrow transplant. “I was just thanking everybody. I thanked my doctors, my parents. But then, was I not going to thank this woman who had been by me through this illness?” she said of the social media post. “I did it because I love Amber.”

Roberts says she was afraid to tell the world her secret “because I was afraid people couldn’t think I could be a Christian and gay.”

“To see how the public was so supportive, that really opened my eyes,” she said.

Jackson Browne is one of the guest stars featured on Dirty Daddy, the new Netflix tribute special to late comedian Bob Saget, which was taped in January at the Comedy Store in West Hollywood, California.

The show also features John Stamos, Jim Carrey, Chris Rock, Jeff Ross, Seth Green, singer/guitarist John Mayer and many other celebs.

Browne performs two of his early songs on the special, “For a Dancer” and “These Days,” accompanying himself on acoustic guitar.

While introducing “For a Dancer,” which Browne wrote for a friend who died young, he explained that Saget had previously asked him to play the song at a New York City event that featured performances by various comedians. Browne said he was apprehensive about playing the tune at a comedy event, but Bob encouraged him to do it.

Reflecting on that, Browne said that perhaps “after laughing really hard, it’s good to contemplate death for a little while, and [then] you can … presumably go back to laughing.”

Later in the show, Stamos told the audience that he asked Browne to play “These Days,” which was one of Saget’s favorite songs. Browne then returned to the stage and asked Mayer if he’d accompany him on electric guitar, drawing cheers from the audience.

Before beginning the contemplative song, Browne pointed out that Mayer had said something at a memorial for Saget that had stayed with him, noting that “it had something to do with … the similarities between comedy and blues in its relation to truth.”

Browne continued, “For some reason, Bob liked a sad song. And there’s something about what comedy does when it dispels your sorrows and deepest fear.”

Dirty Daddy: The Bob Saget Tribute Special is streaming on Netflix now.

Mod Sun has premiered a new song called “Perfectly Imperfect.”

The track finds the “Flames” artist declaring that, despite not being able to “write like Bob Dylan” or be “as cool as [Kurt] Cobain,” he’s happy with being “perfectly imperfect.”

“Is it not strange that ‘I’m Perfect’ and ‘Imperfect’ are spelled the exact same way?” Mod says. “There’s a message in that … we are all perfect just the way we are.”

You can listen to “Perfectly Imperfect” now via digital outlets.

“Perfectly Imperfect” follows the single “Rich Kids Ruin Everything,” which dropped in March. Both tracks are set to appear on the next Mod Sun album, due out later this year.

You can also see Mod in the new movie Good Mourning, which he directed, wrote and stars in alongside Machine Gun Kelly.

Carrie Underwood will always associate Taylor Swift‘s “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” with the word “never.” Carrie played Elle‘s “Song Association” game, where she was given a word and had 10 seconds to think of a song. She also belted out Bonnie Raitt‘s “I Can’t Make You Love Me” when given the word “make” and Madonna‘s “Lucky Star” when given the word “star.”

Speaking of Madonna, she reacted to reenacting her infamous 2003 VMAs kiss with Britney Spears at the singer’s wedding on Thursday. Sharing photos of the moment, Madge wrote on Instagram, “Britney you look so happy and in love… Last night was fun and sweaty!!”

While Madonna was invited to Britney’s wedding, Jamie Lynn Spears was not, but that didn’t stop Britney’s little sister from showing her support. E! News reports Jamie Lynn quietly liked one of the Instagram posts about the “Toxic” singer’s wedding. The sisters’ relationship has been on the rocks since Jamie Lynn published her memoir, Things I Should Have Said. Britney claims the book painted her in a bad light.

Jennifer Lopez is helping over half a million Latina-owned businesses by teaming up with the finance nonprofit Grameen America, which will disburse $14 billion in loans by 2030. In a statement to People, Jennifer declared, “This will change the fabric of America!” J.Lo will also donate 6 million hours in financial training via her platform Limitless Labs.

Have you ever wanted to eat one of those impossibly long hot dogs during a baseball game? That’s what Michael Bublé did and he has the picture to prove it. Teaming with wife Luisana Lopilato, the two devoured the crazy-long hot dog. “After 15 years, we finally get our lady and the tramp moment!! She’s the ketchup to my mustard,” he captioned the post.
