Ozzy Osbourne has some competition in the “grossest thing eaten onstage” category, courtesy of Matty Healy.

While he didn’t bite the head off a bat, The 1975‘s frontman appeared to eat raw meat during the band’s show at New York City’s Madison Square Garden Monday.

In footage posted by TMZ, you can see a shirtless Healy kneeling on stage in front of what sure looks like an uncooked steak before picking up and taking a bite.

Healy and company are currently on tour in support of the new The 1975 album, Being Funny in a Foreign Language, which was released in October. The outing has already had its fair share of theatrical moments since it kicked off earlier this month, prompting Uproxx to publish a story titled “What The Hell Is Going on at The 1975 Concerts?”

The 1975’s tour is scheduled to continue Wednesday in Camden, New Jersey, provided Healy’s stomach feels OK.

Selena Gomez opens up about suffering under the pressure to appear perfect

Selena Gomez is relieved celebrities can be themselves and show off their imperfections.

Speaking to the On Purpose with Jay Shetty podcast, Selena explained she felt pressured to appear “a certain way” when she was younger and that mentality extended to her “relationships.”

That pressure seemingly came to a head in 2016 when she began speaking about her insecurities with her body. Selena said she felt “confusion” and worried no one would take her seriously because she was “a Disney kid.”

The singer is happy she can now be her true self and said her “cheap” banana Halloween costume reflected that.  “That basically sums up who I am to a T.  That to me means I don’t have to be perfect all the time. I’d rather be that girl,” she explained.

Selena spoke about enjoying her more relaxed mindset. “Me messing up a line actually ended up being funny and we kept it in the show or there’s something I said in a lyric that was wrong and it ends up being the biggest hook that we’ve got,” she said. “I look for those moments. I crave those moments.”

The singer also revealed she looks for the “blessing in the breaking.” When speaking about losing someone she “so dearly loved” — without naming names — she expressed that while “there is no perfect way to heal,” she was able to turn the pain “into something else.”

As Selena explained, she looked into how she could “celebrate that person and the great things that… they provided me.” She added, “That takes a lot of work so I don’t say that lightly. But I try my hardest.”

Silver Lining Music

British hard rock veterans Uriah Heep have announced a new album, Chaos & Colour, which will be released on January 27. It’s available for pre-order now.

The first single “Save Me Tonight,” which comes with an animated video, is streaming now. Uriah Heep’s bass player Dave Rimmer, who co-wrote the track, says the song “comes from a place of frustration and helplessness, living through these unprecedented past couple of years but hanging on to this raging hope that we would all meet again!”

As for the album title, the band’s Mick Box explains that it refers to the pandemic lockdown and “all the chaos that was thrown into the world.” He notes, “As far as I could see it, the only color people had was through music. It helped so many people get through those difficult years, using that strength and power which music has, to make those bad times not quite so bad.”

The album will be available in black and colored vinyl, as a deluxe CD with a hardcover book and as a standard CD.

Bruce Springsteen‘s regular fall gig — performing at Bob Woodruff‘s annual Stand Up For Heroes benefit — took place Monday night in New York City.

The annual event honors veterans and their families, and also raises funds for them and their caregivers. Along with Bruce, the bill included The Lumineers, Jewel, Jon Stewart, former Daily Show correspondent and comedian Hasan Minhaj and comedians Iliza Shlesinger and Jeff Ross.

Bruce played a four-song acoustic set that included “House of a Thousand Guitars” and “I’ll See You In My Dreams” from his 2020 album, A Letter To You, as well as “I’ll Work for Your Love” from his 2007 album, Magic, and “Dancing in the Dark.” He didn’t play anything from his upcoming album, Only the Strong Survive.

As has also become a tradition, Bruce told several dirty jokes while onstage, most of which fell into the “dad joke” category. We won’t repeat any of them here, but you can see fan-shot video of it on YouTube.

According to Setlist.fm, The Lumineers played four songs as well: “Cleopatra” and “Ophelia” from the 2016 album Cleopatra, as well as the title track of their new album, Brightside, and “Charlie Boy” from their 2012 self-titled debut.

The event raised more than $4.5 million for the Bob Woodruff Foundation.

On Monday’s The Tonight Show, “Weird Al” Yankovic joined host Jimmy Fallon and his house band The Roots in the Tonight Show Music Room for a medley of his popular song parodies — performed with classroom instruments.

In the recurring segment, Fallon and The Roots back music artists for a version of one of their popular songs, using instruments you would find in a classroom.

In this case, it was Weird Al, naturally rocking a toy accordion, while Fallon pounded a wood block and Roots members played a toy xylophone, a melodica, a toy guitar, tambourines and shakers.

Together, they ran through renditions of “Another One Rides the Bus,” “White and Nerdy,” “I Want a New Duck,” “Eat It,” “I Love Rocky Road,” “My Bologna” and “Yoda.”

Past music room guests have included Madonna, Justin Bieber, Jonas Brothers, Camila Cabello, Ed Sheeran and Adele.

The sketch followed Friday’s premiere of Weird Al’s new biopic, Weird: The Al Yankovic Story on the Roku channel.

When the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony took place this past weekend in L.A., some wondered where Alanis Morissette was, as she’d been expected to join Olivia Rodrigo for a duet as part of Carly Simon‘s induction.  In fact Variety reports that she’d even shown up at rehearsals and ran through the duet of “You’re So Vain” with Olivia.  Now, Alanis is shedding light on why she dropped out of the ceremony.

In a lengthy note posted on her Instagram Story,  Alanis says she wants to clarify “misinformed rumblings,” but doesn’t give a specific reason for her absence. However, she hints that it was due to sexism that she apparently experienced on set.

“I have spent decades in an industry that is rife with an overarching anti-woman sentiment and have tolerated a lot of condescension and disrespectfulness, reduction, dismissiveness, contract-breaching, unsupportiveness, exploitation and psychological violence (and more) throughout my career,” she explains.

She goes on to note, “Thankfully, I am at a point in my life where there is no need for me to spend time in an environment that reduces women,” intimating that the Rock Hall ceremony’s “environment” did just that.

Alanis notes that she “adores” Carly Simon, as well as the female artists who took part in the show as either inductees or performers: Olivia, Dolly Parton, Janet Jackson, Pink, Pat Benatar, Sheryl Crow, Sara Bareilles and Brandi Carlile, as well as “all the amazing people and artists who were there.”

She concluded, “I have had countless incredible experiences with production teams with all genders throughout my life. So many, and so fun. There is nothing better than a team of diverse people coming together with one mission. I’ll continue to show up in those environments with bells on.”

Taylor Swift‘s “Anti-Hero” remains at number one for a second week on the Billboard Hot 100, but the real story this week is the triumphant return of Rihanna.

The Fenty Beauty mogul comes in hot with “Lift Me Up,” her ballad from the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack. The song debuts at number two on the Hot 100, giving Rihanna her first top 10 hit since 2017. As Billboard notes, Rihanna has now had 32 top 10 hits: Only DrakeTaylor SwiftMadonna and The Beatles have had more.

The last time Rihanna was in the top 10 was as part of DJ Khaled‘s “Wild Thoughts,” which featured her and Bryson Tiller. That one made it to number two.

Surprisingly, Rihanna has never had a song debut at number one. “Lift Me Up” is her second to debut at number two, following 2010’s Eminem duet, “Love the Way You Lie.”

Taylor Swift‘s “Anti-Hero” remains at number one for a second week on the Billboard Hot 100, but she no longer has complete control of the Top 10, as she did last week.

Of the 10 that dominated the chart last week, only four remain: “Anti-Hero,” “Lavender Haze” at number six, “Midnight Rain” at number seven and “Bejeweled” at number nine.  As previously reported, the songs’ parent album Midnights is number one for a second week on the Billboard Top 200.

Meanwhile, Rihanna comes in hot with “Lift Me Up,” her ballad from the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack.  The song debuts at number two on the Hot 100, giving the Fenty Beauty mogul her first top 10 hit since 2017.  As Billboard notes, Rihanna has now had 32 top ten hits: Only Drake, Taylor Swift, Madonna and The Beatles have had more.

Rascals singer/keyboardist Felix Cavaliere has finished work on a new solo album that he’s expecting to release soon.

Cavaliere tells ABC Audio the album is titled Then and Now, and features a mix of covers and new, original tunes.

“I got this idea to do five songs that influenced me, rerecord those and write five new songs,” he explains.

Cavaliere says he began working on it before the COVID-19 pandemic hit and then continued the project remotely once the health crisis started.

“Then everything was confined to home,” Felix notes. “Thank goodness we got technology, we got computers, we can … record online. I was able to finish it, and I’m pretty excited about it.”

Among the covers Cavaliere recorded for the new album are Jackie Wilson‘s “(Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher and Higher” and Clarence Carter‘s “Slip Away.”

“First of all, it was really fun, you know, doing songs that you know and love,” Felix says. “It’s nice to do other people’s songs besides your own, you know? And this was a good excuse for me to be able to do that.”

The Rock & Roll Hall of Famer notes he made the album in Nashville, where he now lives, mainly with members of his touring band.

In other news, Cavaliere is teaming up with founding Rascals guitarist Gene Cornish for a fall U.S. tour celebrating the legendary “blue-eyed soul” group’s musical legacy.

The Rascals Featuring Felix Cavaliere & Gene Cornish’s Time Peace Tour 2022 kicks off November 11 in Staten Island, New York, and runs through a November 20 concert in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.
