Next year marks the 50th anniversary of George Thorogood‘s first show, so he and his band, The Destroyers, are celebrating the milestone with a new tour. Thorogood just announced dates for the Bad All Over The World 50 Years of Rock tour, with dates set in the U.S. and Canada.

The tour kicks off with an appearance on the Rock Legends Cruise X in February, before launching March 17 and 18 in Lincoln City, Oregon. The last U.S. show has Thorogood hitting Las Vegas’ Pearl Theater at the Palms Casino Resort on March 25.

“From that very first show, we’ve stayed true to ourselves and the music we love,” says Thorogood, referring to their first gig, which was on December 1, 1973, at the University of Delaware. “We’ve decided to celebrate our first half-century by throwing the biggest and baddest rock party ever.”

After the Vegas show, the tour heads to Canada for Thorogood’s first shows there in three years. Dates are confirmed through May 17 in Niagara Falls, Ontario.

Just two weeks ago, only one song could confidently call itself the highest-certified single by the Recording Industry Association of America: Post Malone and Swae Lee‘s “Sunflower.” Now, they are sharing the title with another dynamic duo: Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus.

Chart Data reports their 2019 smash hit “Old Town Road” is officially minted 17 times Platinum, which makes both it and “Sunflower” the highest-certified singles in RIAA history.

“Old Town Road” was released by Columbia Records in April 2019. The song, which served as Lil Nas X’s debut single, ended up spending a record 19 consecutive weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100, making it the longest-running #1 in chart history.

It also became the fastest song to be RIAA-certified Diamond after it moved over 10 million total units by October 2019.

The song was nominated for three Grammy awards the following year and won Best Pop Duo/Group Performance as well as Best Music Video.

Lil Nas X nor Billy Ray have publicly reacted to their latest feat.

The estate of the late Vinnie Paul has issued a statement regarding Pantera‘s upcoming shows.

As previously reported, Pantera members Phil Anselmo and Rex Brown are reforming the “Walk” outfit for their first concerts since 2001, with Black Label Society‘s Zakk Wylde and Anthrax‘s Charlie Benante stepping in for the late Abbott brothers “Dimebag” Darrell and Paul, respectively. Dime was murdered in 2004, and Vinnie died in 2018 of a heart condition.

In its first official comments since Billboard broke news of the Pantera shows over the summer, Paul’s estate writes, “There can never be a Pantera reunion without Vinnie and Dime. However, there is no better way to celebrate and honor Vinnie and Dime’s legacy, than to bring the music of Pantera directly to the fans.”

“We are honored that Charlie and Zakk, their very close friends and musical brothers, will share the stage with Philip and Rex, to unleash the power of Pantera live around the world,” the statement concludes.

Billboard also reported that the estates of both Dime and Vinnie gave the reconstituted Pantera lineup the “green light.”

The first Pantera show will take place this Friday in Mexico. Following trips to South America and Europe, the tour will come to the U.S. in 2023 and 2024 when Pantera opens for Metallica.
