Carole King’s life is coming to the big screen. A movie adaptation of Beautiful, the Broadway musical about her life, is in the works, with Normal People’s Daisy Edgar-Jones set to play King and The Kids Are All Right’s Lisa Cholodenko set to direct.

“Daisy has a spirit and energy that I recognized as myself when I was younger,” King tells Variety. “She’s a tremendous talent and I know she’s going to give a great performance.”

Beautiful opened on Broadway in 2014 and earned actress Jessie Mueller a Tony Award for her portrayal of King. The show, which closed in 2019, tells the story of King’s songwriting career and eventual stardom as a singer, using many of her biggest hits, including “One Fine Day,” “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman,” “I Feel the Earth Move” and “You’ve Got a Friend,” in the show.

Little Nas X has landed another honor: He’s made the 2022 Native Son 101 List.

Native Son was founded by activist Emil Wilbekin to elevate and empower Black gay and queer men. The 101 List, now in its third year, includes those who made an impact in 2022 by breaking through glass ceilings and achieving culture-making milestones in the fields of sports, politics business, music, film and television, theater, media, fashion and beauty.

Lil Nas X made the list for the second year in a row by raising over $500,000 for queer- and women-focused charities, while also becoming an ambassador for the YSL Beauty brand.

Others who made the list include Billy Porter, comedian Jerrod Carmichael, Vogue Editor-In-Chief Edward Enniful, stylist Law Roach, rapper Saucy Santana and Byron Perkins, the first out gay football player at a historically Black college or university.

In a statement, Wilbekin says, “The List shines a spotlight on the players who are shape-shifting our world, moving culture, and rewriting the narrative of what it means to be a Black gay and queer man now. It has truly become a staple and celebration for our organization and community.”

Gunna’s Great Giveaway is back for the holiday season. The rapper’s fifth annual event is set to take place Sunday at a Walmart in College Park, Atlanta.

During the giveaway, the rapper’s representatives will provide gift cards to 1,000 families who filled out preregistration forms prior to the event. According to a flyer, they’ll also receive a “special gift from Gunna.”

Gunna’s Great Giveaway marks another event in his partnership with sustainable waste management and hunger relief company Goodr. He’s previously teamed up with the company for coat giveaways, back-to-school fairs, pop-up grocery markets and more.

“Much respect to Gunna who, no matter what, still finds a way to contribute to the community that raised him,” says Goodr founder/CEO Jasmine Crowe-Houston. “We know that people will struggle unlike any other year this holiday season and it is our honor to maintain Gunna’s legacy of giving back.”

Gunna was one of many charged in Young Thug‘s RICO case. The rapper faced one count of conspiracy to violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corruption Act, to which he accepted an Alford plea.

He’s since been released from custody and is required to serve 500 hours of community service.

“While I have agreed to always be truthful, I want to make it perfectly clear that I have NOT made any statements, have NOT been interviewed, have NOT cooperated, have NOT agreed to testify or be a witness for or against any party in the case and have absolutely NO intention of being involved in the trial process in any way,” Gunna said in a statement following his release.

Josh Groban is sending his love and support to Céline Dion, who revealed last week she has been diagnosed with stiff-person syndrome and will be postponing her tour once more.

According to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, stiff-person syndrome is a rare neurological disorder that affects the muscles in the torso, arms, legs and more. There is no cure for this condition.

Josh shared his thoughts about Céline with E! News. “I owe so much of the beginning of my career to Céline, and her kindness and her voice,” he began. “She’s an inspiration to so many of us.”

Continued Josh, “She’s given so much love to the world, and to so many of us that have been lucky enough to know her and work with her. We’re just pouring that love back out to her and her family.”

The singer said Céline has “got so much more to give” and that her fans will be there to support her.

Josh first met Céline in 1999 when he filled in for Andrea Bocelli to sing “The Prayer” with her at a Grammy Awards rehearsal. He was just 17 at the time.
