The Beach Boys are the latest artists whose career will be celebrated by the Recording Academy.

Billboard reports that A Grammy Salute to The Beach Boys is set to happen February 8 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. The event, which takes place three days after the Grammy Awards, will be recorded and air at a later date on CBS. So far, the lineup of artists paying tribute to The Beach Boys has not been announced.

Last year, Paul Simon was the subject of the annual Grammy Salute, with the special airing this past December. It featured performances by Dave Matthews, Sting, Bonnie Raitt, The Bangles, Garth Brooks and more.

While The Beach Boys have never won a Grammy, in 2001 they were honored with a lifetime achievement award by the Recording Academy, and five Beach Boys recordings have made it into the Grammy Hall of Fame. In addition, Brian Wilson was named MusicCares Person of the Year in 2005.

In addition to being his band name, Mumford & Sons may soon describe Marcus Mumford‘s family.

People has confirmed that Mumford and his wife, Oscar-nominated actor Carey Mulligan, are expecting their third child. The couple, who’ve been married since 2012, share a 7-year-old daughter, Evelyn, and a 5-year-old son, Wilfred.

In addition to expecting a new baby, Mumford is set to return to the stage with Mumford & Sons later this year to play the 2023 New Orleans Jazz Fest. The performance follows the release of Mumford’s debut solo album, (self-titled), last September.

Mulligan, meanwhile, is currently starring in the new movie She Said. Her performance was nominated for a Golden Globe.

Sam Asghari, the husband of Britney Spears, hit back against claims the pop star had a supposed “meltdown” in public.

Claims surfaced on Friday that Britney and Sam made a scene when dining at the upscale restaurant Joey Woodland Hills in California. TMZ reportedly spoke with eyewitnesses who were at the venue, and they claimed Britney became irate when people took out their phones and began recording her.

The story went as follows: Britney began speaking gibberish and Sam stormed out of the restaurant without his wife. TMZ also shared a video reportedly showing Britney sitting alone and talking to herself.

Sam immediately hit back at the reports and warned on his Instagram Story, “Don’t believe what you read online people.”

Fans also nitpicked TMZ’s video, saying it appeared she was talking to a waiter before using a menu to shield her face because she realized someone was recording her.

Sam and Britney were further vindicated when a restaurant worker gave their side of the story to Page Six. “The disruptor wasn’t Britney — it was the diner who taunted her by taking a video without consent,” they said. The restaurant worker clarified Britney “was understandably upset” and Sam “only left briefly to get their car, but he did not storm out.”

Britney later referenced the incident on Instagram and said she’s unhappy people are watching her every move. “I’m so flattered they talk about me like a maniac THEN have the balls to talk about all the negative things that happened in my past,” she continued in reference to her 13-year conservatorship that was terminated in 2021.

Billy Joel was back at New York’s Madison Square Garden Friday night and Rolling Stone reports he took some time out of his residency to pay tribute to the late Jeff Beck, who died Tuesday at the age of 78.

“He was a musician that I always loved. He was the best. Jeff Beck just passed away…,” Joel told the audience at his 86th MSG show. “I couldn’t let the night go by without doing something by Jeff.”

Billy then performed the track “People Get Ready,” which Beck recorded with Rod Stewart for for Beck’s 1985 album, Flash.

He paid tribute to Beck again later in the evening after the night’s last song, “You May Be Right,” with the band playing a jam session that morphed into “Going Down,” a track that appeared on the Jeff Beck Group’s 1972 self-titled third album. Noted Billy, “we should have rehearsed this today.”

Following the news of Beck’s death, Billy posted a tribute to him on social media, calling him “one of my heroes,” and noting, “I was fortunate to meet him recently and I’m very grateful now that I was able to tell him how much I admired his musical skill. This is the end of an era.”

SZA‘s SOS continues to rule the Billboard 200 album chart: It’s number one for a fifth week, hitting a few new benchmarks in the process.

SOS is the first album to spend its first five weeks at number one since Adele‘s 30 did it in 2021. It’s also the first R&B album by a solo female artist to spend its first five weeks at number one since 1993, when Janet Jackson did it with her now-iconic album, janet.

The last time an album by any solo R&B female artist spent at least five weeks at number one in general was 1995, when Mariah Carey‘s Daydream was on top for six non-consecutive weeks.

Since the start of 2022, SZA’s album is one of only four to have spent at least five weeks at number one. The others are Taylor Swift‘s Midnights, also with five; Bad Bunny‘s Un Verano Sin Ti, with 13; and the Encanto soundtrack, with nine.

Elsewhere in the top 10, YoungBoy Never Broke Again sees his new album, I Rest My Case, debut at number nine. It’s his 13th top-10 release. The rest of the top 10 is full of former number ones, including Midnights, Un Verano Sin Ti, and releases by Harry Styles, Metro Boomin, Morgan Wallen, and Drake and 21 Savage.

Seattle artist charlieonnafriday, born Charlie Finch, saw his song “Enough” go viral on TikTok in 2022, and now it’s becoming his first big radio hit. He says the song, about a broken romance, is based on his experience, but he gets why it’s connecting with fans.

“It is a real-life thing,” he tells ABC Audio. “This was an old thing, but it definitely helped me put it behind me for sure.” But Charlie says the experience he describes in the song is pretty universal.

“I think a lot of people can relate to having something in their life that they want to move on from and put behind them,” he notes. “And I think it’s a great song to do that.”

Starting in April, he’ll be touring the United Kingdom and Europe with fellow Seattle star Macklemore, who’s become a friend and mentor to Charlie.

“I have had a ‘Wings’ poster in my bedroom my entire life,” says Charlie, referring to the first single from Macklemore & Ryan Lewis‘ Grammy-winning 2012 album, The Heist. He adds, “To be able to have the opportunity to go on tour with someone that I’ve always looked up to is incredible.”

Not only that, but having access to Macklemore means getting useful advice on the music biz — or, as he puts it, “Just how to deal with stress and how to maneuver this game.”

Charlie is releasing a new single on January 27 called “That’s What I Get.” It’s available to presave now.

A Boogie says self-imposed isolation helped him cope with PnB Rock’s death

A Boogie is getting vulnerable with Billboard. During his conversation with the outlet, he opened up about how isolation’s helped him find inner peace amid turmoil.

A Boogie isolated himself after witnessing his mother endure an injury amid a SWAT raid. She was rushing down the steps when she fell and rolled her ankle; Boogie says officers ignored her as she writhed in pain.

“That’s what really woke me up,” Boogie tells Billboard. “When I seen Mom Dukes fall down the stairs that day, bro. I’m looking up to see what was coming behind her, and all I seen was a flashlight, and whatever kind of chopper those SWAT teams have. It was crazy, and I just froze up. I couldn’t do anything.”

The incident showed him he needed some clarity and peace, so he detached to focus on his album Me Vs. Myself.

“In the beginning of this album, I purposely put myself through things to make the music, and I hated that about myself,” says Boogie. “I eventually learned when you don’t want something to happen, it hits more and I learned that through isolation. I didn’t want that raid to happen, but it woke me up.”

Isolation also helped A Boogie cope with the death of his friend PnB Rock.

“When it comes to someone close to me passing away, it’s hard, but I can’t lose focus because I have to be responsible and find the balance to deal with those tough losses … Isolation helped with that,” Boogie says. “I didn’t realize how good isolating myself was until I saw how much time I was spending with family and how good that made me feel. When I got back in the studio, ideas were just flowing — and that was important, because I speak through my music.”

Dierks Bentley’s upcoming record, Gravel & Gold, gives fans a taste of the many diverse sounds of country music. It also has him working with a string of collaborators from different eras of country, and that’s something that was incredibly important to him.

He sings with Ashley McBryde on the tune “Cowboy Boots” and collaborates with Billy Strings on the tune “High Note.” But the latter song also has him trading licks with some of the legendary pickers in Nashville, including Jerry Douglas on dobro, Sam Bush on mandolin, Charlie Worsham on guitar, and Bryan Sutton on guitar and banjo.

“Selfishly I’ve always wanted to have my cake and eat it, too,” he shares. “I’m in the bluegrass space. I’m in the traditional country space.”

Dierks notes, “It’s always been important to me to have the love and support of this community in Nashville, particularly the older establishment and the Opry — and to know that I’m able to do that but also get out on the road and play the big venues too? It doesn’t get any better than that for me.”

Gravel & Gold is due out February 24.

In an interview with Consequence last year, KISSPaul Stanley shared that he wanted to collaborate with Dave Grohl. Speaking now with ABC Audio, Stanley explains what interests him about working with the Foo Fighters frontman.

“It’s so fascinating to see somebody who his first brush with fame was to be the drummer in a band [Nirvana] that arguably he has eclipsed as the frontman,” Stanley says. “He’s a fascinating and very, very bright guy.”

Beyond being members of gigantic bands, Grohl and Stanley have another connection outside of the rock world.

“Our kids went to the same school,” Stanley says. “So drop-off in the morning meant seeing Dave and few other people.”

As for the status of a potential Stanley/Grohl collab — Stanley’s original comments came before the unexpected death of Foo drummer Taylor Hawkins last March — that’s still up in the air, but the Starchild remains optimistic.

“I would think at some point we’ll do something,” Stanley says. “It’s more, like, ‘Gee, that would be fun.'”

“We’re both busy, and there’s a mutual respect,” he adds. “Whatever happens beyond that is up for grabs.”

Grohl, meanwhile, is preparing to take Foo Fighters out on the road again for the first time since Hawkins’ death. The group is confirmed to headline this year’s Bonnaroo, Boston Calling and Sonic Temple festivals.

Maren Morris is a proud ally to the LGBTQ+ community.

The country star made a guest appearance on season 15 of RuPaul’s Drag Race: Untucked and addressed the contestants, apologizing for the way the country music industry has treated the queer community.

“Coming from country music and its relationship with LGBTQ+ members, I just want to say I’m sorry,” the “Bones” singer, 32, said during the Friday, January 13, episode

“And I love you guys for making me feel like a brave voice in country music,” she continued. “So, I just thank you guys so much for inspiring me. I’m gonna cry.”

Maren is one of country music’s most vocal advocates for the LGBTQ+ community. Earlier in 2022, she made headlines during a social media feud with Jason Aldean’s wife, Brittany, over allegedly transphobic comments Brittany made in an Instagram Reel. Ultimately, Maren leveraged the feud into a T-shirt design that raised over $500,000 for GLAAD and the Trans Lifeline.
