After graduating Saturday from Texas Southern University, Megan Thee Stallion was presented with a very award from Congress on Sunday.

“The Hot Girl Summer” received the 18th Congressional District Humanitarian Award, as reported by ABC Houston affiliate KTRK.

Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee presented the honor to the “Savage” rapper, who received a bachelor’s degree in health administration from TSU.

“This award has not been given out often, or to many,” Lee said. “That is why it remains a special part in our congressional district. The district has almost one million people. When this award is given, it has that special promise and special history.”

Lee added that the award is presented to those who have helped without asking. “We are nothing in this nation if we don’t help our fellow brothers and sisters,” she continued.

“I’m so honored,” 26-year-old Houston native Megan said in receiving the award. “It’s my responsibility to take care of the city that took care of me. My grandma always taught me to be kind and giving. I learned that from her.” Megan has said her late mother and grandmother inspired her to earn her bachelor’s degree.

“I was raised by very giving women,” Megan continued. “So I want to dedicate this award to my grandma because she taught me to be the woman I am today.”

Last month, Megan was honored as one of Glamour’s Women of the Year. She also won American Music Awards for Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Album for her debut album, Good News, Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Artist, and Favorite Trending Song for her hit, “Body.” Plus, Megan’s nominated for two Grammy Awards: Best Rap Performance for “Thot Sh**,” and Album of the Year for Lil Nas X‘s Montero, as a songwriter on “Dolla Sign Slime.”

It took Adele‘s 30 just two weeks to become the top-selling album of 2021 and it continues to leave its competition in the dust.

The album has notched its third straight week atop the Billboard 200 chart, moving an additional 193,000 units in its third week of release.  That’s something no other album has done in over three years, since Drake‘s Scorpion, which he released in 2018.

Some 149,000 units of that 193,000 were album sales, while the remaining units were SEA, or streaming equivalent albums, comprised of 57.87 million streams, vastly outpacing all other studio offerings on this week’s roundup.

Taylor Swift’s Red (Taylor’s Version) hangs on in second place after moving just 80,000 units while Olivia Rodrigo‘s SOUR is this week’s fifth-best-selling album.

In 2021, fans worldwide really, really wanted to see The Weeknd looking like the victim of a botched plastic surgery job.

VEVO has named The Weeknd’s video for “Save Your Tears” — which features the Canadian star wearing makeup and prosthetics to make his face appear grotesquely transformed — the number-one video of 2021.  The clip tops both VEVO’s U.S. and Global charts, racking up 615 million views globally and just under 103 million views in the U.S.

The rest of the top-ten most viewed videos of 2021 in the U.S. include two by Olivia Rodrigo — “drivers license” and “good 4 U” — plus “Kiss Me More” by Doja Cat ft. SZA, Lil Nas X‘s “Montero,” Polo G‘s “RAPSTAR,” and Justin Bieber’s “Peaches.”

VEVO’s Global list also includes “Montero,” “Peaches” and “good 4 U,” but adds Justin and The Kid LAROI‘s “Stay,” as well as “Girl Like Me” by Shakira and the Black Eyed Peas.

BTS is the proud owner of several impressive Guinness World Records but, for the first time, an individual member of the group was singled out for their history-making accomplishment.  Congratulations are in order for V, who now has two Guinness World Records of his very own!

V, whose birth name is Kim Taehyung, unknowingly made history when he launched his personal Instagram account last week, because his new world records have everything to do with how quickly people followed his page.

According to Guinness, V set a new record for being the fastest to amass a million followers and then 10 million followers — and he broke both records on the same day.  It took him a mere 43 minutes to amass over a million followers, and then just four hours and 52 minutes after launching his account, he crossed the 10 million mark.

As of Monday at noon ET, over 25 million fans are watching his Instagram page.

Future brings out Kanye West at Rolling Loud California

Kanye West was a surprise guest during Future’s performance Sunday night at the Rolling Loud California festival in San Bernardino, CA.

In the middle of his set, Future stopped his music, and as “Can’t Tell Me Nothing” started to play, West emerged on stage to perform the song. Yeezy continued with “Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1,” and freestyled over Future’s “F**k Up Some Commas.” He also joined the Atlanta MC for his “Way 2 Sexy” collabo recorded with Drake and Young Thug.

Prior to bringing out Kanye, Future was also joined on stage by Roddy Ricch. Ye’s surprise performance follows his “Free Larry Hoover Benefit Concert” Thursday night with Drake at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

In other Kanye news, as previously reported, Kim Kardashian filed on Friday asking to be considered legally single amid her divorce from her estranged husband, according to court documents obtained by Us Weekly. She also requested that her maiden name be restored and that West dropped from her last name.

The filing came just hours after West shouted-out Kim during the Free Larry Hoover concert. While performing, the Donda rapper pleaded for his wife to “run back” to him, singing, “I need you to run right back to me, more specifically, Kimberly.”

Mariah Carey mesmerized by neighborhood’s synchronized Christmas light display

Mariah Carey is largely considered the end-all of all things holiday related, so you can imagine one neighborhood’s delight when its synchronized light display earned a thumbs-up from the self-professed “Queen of Christmas.”

A Mariah fan captured a video of the twinkling lights that were choreographed to her holiday smash, “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” and asked their followers, “Have you ever seen anything more festive?!”

That video caught the Grammy winner’s attention, who agreed by revealing the video had her hitting the repeat button. “So festive,” she marveled and used a string of heart-eyed emojis. “I can’t stop watching!”

The neighborhood appeared to go all-out with their synchronized display. The lights across peoples’ homes and trees don’t appear to be synced during the song’s intro, but that quickly changes when the familiar drums and piano riff signal the first verse. The song is blasted loud enough for the entire street to hear as the decorations blink in unison to the beat.

Also not to be left out is the conga line of cars, showing just how many spectators roll through the neighborhood each night to catch a glimpse at the fantasy of lights that now have Mariah’s official seal of approval.
