Benson Boone is doing everything for the Super Bowl — except headlining the halftime show.

As previously reported, Benson will perform on Feb. 5 at a charity concert organized by the Bay Area Host Committee and take part in the YouTube Super Bowl LX Flag Football game on Feb. 7. Now, it’s been announced he’ll star in a Super Bowl commercial with Ben Stiller that will air on Feb. 8, the day of the game.

The ad, which is for Instacart, features Ben and Benson as a retro Euro-disco-pop duo of brothers, singing about how Instacart’s new Preference Picker product feature allows them to pick the perfect bananas.

In the director’s cut version of the ad, the song gradually escalates into a sibling rivalry showdown. After Benson nails one of his signature flips, Ben tries to copy him and wipes out. He then makes a second attempt, only to crash into the on-stage speakers.

Benson pleads with Ben to stop, but he won’t listen. Instead, he climbs higher up on a piece of the stage set and attempts the flip again, this time crashing into the drumkit.

“I did the flip!” Ben declares, staggering to his feet and falling off the stage.

“Working on a Super Bowl commercial for Instacart blew my mind,” Benson says in a statement. “However, adding Ben Stiller to the equation… diabolical.”

Benson has got his eye on the prize for the future. He tells Billboard, “I think down the line — like, far down the line — I could really rip a Super Bowl halftime show.”

He also shared his Instacart order with Billboard. “Fruit snacks …. When I’m in the studio, I’ll eat, like, 20 a day , and Martinelli’s apple juice,” he says, acknowledging that it sounds like “a 5-year-old’s diet.”

Dustin Lynch is a good-looking, muscular, multi-talented country star — but is he “Easy to Love?”

“I don’t think I am, which is kinda the song,” he says of his current hit. “It’s a little bit of a deceiving lyric because, you know, the lyric is ‘this heart ain’t easy to love,’ but it feels happy, you know?”

“And it’s a great sing-along,” he continues, “a little autobiographical, loosely based, I think, on me, about a troubadour and a guy that’s kinda riding the wave of life, figuring it out.”

If you missed Dustin and Scotty McCreery‘s Two for the Road Tour that wrapped in early December, chances are you’ll have another chance to check it out.

“We should probably run this back another year at some point and hit some more markets with it,” Dustin told ABC Audio midway through the trek. “We’re only doing 12 stops, just trying it out. But man, the crowds are electric. I’m getting in front of new fans of his that I’ve never been in front and vice versa. It’s just a great combination.”

Next up for Dustin, he plays Scottsdale, Arizona, on Feb. 7, before an appearance on the Grand Ole Opry Feb. 11.

Tool has unexpectedly been in the news after climber Alex Honnold said he listened to a playlist featuring Maynard James Keenan and company while completing his free solo scaling of the Taipei 101 skyscraper in Taiwan that streamed live during a Netflix special Saturday. If you were wondering, the story of Honnold’s climbing feat and music choice did indeed make its way to Keenan.

“Not everybody and their mother texted me every three seconds telling me about it or anything,” Keenan jokes while speaking with ABC Audio.

When he first heard of Honnold’s ascent up one of the world’s tallest buildings without any ropes, Keenan’s reaction was, “Jesus, what b****.”

“What the heck were you thinking, dude?” Keenan says. “It’s impressive! It’s extremely impressive, but, I mean, I wouldn’t make it past the first floor. I would fall to my death.”

Needless to say, Keenan was happy that Honnold was the one doing the climbing while he provided the soundtrack. Barring that, he has an idea of what role he can play if Honnold embarks on another climb.

“I’ll be the guy down below eating french fries making fun of him,” Keenan says.

Keenan will release a new album with PusciferNormal Isn’t, on Feb. 6.

Ronnie DeVoeBobby BrownRicky BellMichael BivinsRalph Tresvant and Johnny Gill are hitting the road, and they’re doing it the New Edition Way.

The New Edition Way tour launches Wednesday and will feature the group performing on an immersive 360-degree stage, alongside co-headliners Boyz II Men and Toni Braxton. Ronnie says the concept was driven by a desire to reach as many fans as possible.

“Those NE 4 Lifers and Toni and Boyz II Men fans [who] have been following us for decades…we want to squeeze as many of them as possible in that place so they can experience the joy and the feelings that they had when those songs came out,” he tells ABC Audio.

“It’s also just to be able to give people a different experience and we’re excited about it,” he continues. “[We’re] looking forward to impacting people’s lives and pouring back into communities that have been really supporting us and propping us up for a long time.”

With a discography spanning decades, Johnny Gill acknowledges it’s impossible to satisfy every fan’s wish with the set list.

“It’s a great problem to happen,” he says.

Despite the challenge, he assures there will be no filler songs: “It’s hit after hit after hit.”

The goal, he adds, is to gift fans with an unforgettable experience.

“We want them to understand that this tour…it’s for them,” he says. “We appreciate the NE 4 Lifers that have been here and have supported us for many years.”

“We love hearing when the fans come to our show and they talk about how it took them back and how they were like teenagers again and just had so much fun,” he continues. “That’s what it’s all about for us…We wanna make sure that they leave…with a great experience.”
