Noah Kahan reflects on Grammy experience: “It was the privilege of a lifetime to be there”

Stewart Cook/CBS

Noah Kahan has shared a reflection on his experience at the Grammys.

In an Instagram post, the “Stick Season” artist writes, “It was the privilege of a lifetime to be there, to be a part of it.”

“To feel deserving of something so great was a real challenge, but with all of your support and the support of my team, and my loved ones, I feel like I did grow in confidence and finally feel proud of myself,” Kahan writes.

Kahan was nominated for Best New Artist, but the trophy ended up going to R&B artist Victoria Monét.

“I am so proud of and excited for Victoria Monet,” Kahan writes. “[She] deserved winning, and you could tell how much it meant to her.”

“That is all you can hope for for somebody else; to watch them live out their dreams if only to be reminded that dreams do come true, and that magic exists,” he continues. “To Victoria and my other fellow nominees, you are MAGIC. Every single one of you was deserving, and you handle your lives and careers with such grace.”

Kahan notes that he’s “very competitive” and that it “hurts to lose out on an award, or to feel like I’ve failed in some way.”

“The truth is though, that this was not a failure,” Kahan writes. “It has been a celebration. It’s been a celebration of what we have achieved together, of all of the beautiful moments we’ve shared this year. It’s been a postage stamp and a ribbon put on this absolute gift of a journey.”

“Thank you to everybody who cheered me on this week, and over these last 8 years,” he adds. “Someday we will be back, and I know you’ll still be by my side.”

Report: Céline Dion wanted to “show everyone that she’s back” at Grammys

Sonja Flemming/CBS

Céline Dion made a surprise appearance at the Grammy Awards on February 4 to hand out the Album of the Year trophy, which went to Taylor Swift. And an insider tells Page Six that the Canadian diva was unbothered by what Taylor did or didn’t do while they were onstage together.

While some viewers thought Taylor should have hugged Céline or paid more attention to her, the insider says, “I don’t think Céline cared and they talked backstage afterwards. But Céline was just gracious and happy to be there.”

“She wanted to show everyone that she’s doing alright,” the insider added of the singer, who is living with stiff-person syndrome and has been unable to take the stage. “She has good days and bad days … it’s a painful disease, but it’s not a death sentence.”

“She’s clearly capable of doing things and she wanted to show everyone that she’s back,” noted the insider. “She looked fantastic. The hope is that she will be able to perform.”

The insider also told Page Six that while she was at the Grammys, Céline sang backstage with Stevie Wonder, caught up with Oprah Winfrey and was on her way home to Las Vegas by 9:30 p.m. local time.

As previously reported, a documentary about Céline’s recent struggles is coming to Amazon Prime Video.

Taylor Swift threatens legal action against student who tracks her plane

Taylor Swift has a serious problem with stalkers, which is why she’s threatening legal action against a Florida college student who has a history of posting the location of her private jet.

As first reported by The Washington Post, in December Taylor’s team sent a cease and desist letter to the student, Jack Sweeney, who has a history of posting the locations of other celebrities’ jets. In fact, Elon Musk offered to pay Sweeney to stop posting the information.

A letter Taylor’s legal team sent Sweeney, which Sweeney confirms to ABC News he received, reads in part, “We are aware of your public disputes with other high-profile individuals and your tactics in those interactions, including offering to stop your harmful behavior only in exchange for items of value.”

“While this may be a game to you, or an avenue that you hope will earn you wealth or fame, it is a life-or-death matter for our Client. Ms. Swift has dealt with stalkers and other individuals who wish her harm since she was a teenager,” the letter adds.

“Because the Offending Accounts share ‘live’ updates on her destination and the exact time our Client will arrive at a given location, you essentially provide individuals intent on physically harming her, or with nefarious or violent intentions, a roadmap to carry out their plans,” the letter continues.

A spokesperson for Taylor tells ABC News, “We cannot comment on any ongoing police investigation but can confirm the timing of stalkers suggests a connection. His posts tell you exactly when and where she would be.”

Sweeney’s accounts have since been taken offline by Meta.

Sweeney tells ABC News that he means no harm, but believes “in transparency and public information.” He also claims that a year ago, in response to headlines about the carbon emissions created by her jet, Taylor’s team told the media the plane is rarely used by the singer because it’s often loaned out.

“The statements by her team directly contradict each other,” Sweeney tells ABC News.

Deep Purple releasing ‘Machine Head: Super Deluxe Edition’ in March

Rhino

Deep Purple is celebrating their classic album Machine Head with the release of a new Super Deluxe Edition, dropping March 29.

The set features new stereo and Dolby Atmos mixes of the 1972 original album, courtesy of Dweezil Zappa. There’s also the 1974 quadrophonic mix and a new 2024 remaster of the original album.

The deluxe edition includes two live performances. The first was recorded on March 9, 1972, at the Paris Theatre in London. The second is a previously unreleased April 1971 concert at Montreux Casino in Switzerland, the same venue where Deep Purple had planned to record Machine Head before it burned down during a Frank Zappa concert. That fire inspired Deep Purple’s biggest hit, “Smoke on the Water,” which appeared on Machine Head.

To coincide with the new announcement, the first track from the new set has just been released: Zappa’s remix of “Smoke on the Water.” You can listen to it now via digital outlets and on YouTube.

Machine Head: Super Deluxe Edition will be released as a three-CD/LP/Blu-ray set. It is available for preorder now.
