The recent documentary about John Lennon’s relationship with former assistant May Pang is getting a digital release this fall.

Deadline reports that the film, The Lost Weekend: A Love Story, has just been acquired by Briarcliff Entertainment, which plans to release it digitally and on Blu-ray on October 13, just four days after what would have been Lennon’s 80th birthday.

The Lost Weekend: A Love Story originally screened at the Tribeca Festival earlier this year. It is Pang’s account of her 18-month relationship with Lennon during a brief split from Yoko Ono in the early ’70s. The relationship was referred to as Lennon’s “lost weekend” and ended in February 1975, when Ono decided to return to Lennon.

On August 25, 1970, Elton John took the stage at LA’s famous Troubadour club to perform his first-ever U.S. concert. It was the first night of a six-date residency. By the time he had finished, word had spread: the 23-year-old singer/songwriter was a star.

In honor of the 53rd anniversary of that first show, now cited as one of the greatest concerts of the rock era, Elton has launched a new merch collection that you can shop now

The Troubadour collection includes tees, hoodies and tote bags, many of which say “Elton John Has Arrived.” That was what it said on a banner that was hung from the double-decker London bus that Elton’s record company hired to drive him into town when he landed in LA.

Elton’s set list at the Troubadour that night included songs from his debut album, 1970’s Empty Sky, as well as then-unreleased music from his upcoming self-titled album, including his future hit “Your Song.”

Not much can stop Beyoncé from putting on a great show, but a recent issue with audio at one of her Renaissance stops came close to it.

While performing for a packed house in Arizona, the Grammy winner seemed to experience a mic mishap during “Alien Superstar.”

Video posted all over social media shows the singer midway through the Renaissance song when her mic cuts out. At first, fans were unable to hear the singer but the music continued. Not long after, the music went out, as well.

Bey and her dancers continued their routine onstage for a bit, but after the audio hadn’t come back for what seemed like a few minutes, the singer left the stage.

The audience seemed unhappy with the disruption but they roared with cheers when she returned to the stage to pick up where she’d left off, in a new outfit, with the audio issue fixed.

The short setback took place a day after Beyoncé sent a special birthday request to her fans who attend shows during Virgo season.

“My birthday wish is to celebrate with you wearing your most fabulous silver fashions to the shows,” she wrote on her Instagram Story.

Ex-FFDP guitarist Jason Hook launches Flat Black band with two new songs

Fearless Records

Former Five Finger Death Punch guitarist Jason Hook has started a new band called Flat Black.

The group launches with two new songs, “It’s Your Lack of Respect” and “Halo.” Both will appear on the upcoming debut Flat Black album, title and release date TBA.

“I didn’t want to play it safe with the first release,” Hook says. “Sure, there are other songs on the album that are more geared towards radio, but to me, ‘It’s Your Lack of Respect’ makes a statement. It’s unapologetically defiant, which is how I feel as a songwriter and we feel as band in today’s seemingly homogenized rock landscape.”

“Halo,” meanwhile, has what Hook calls a “dark, sinister mood.”

“‘Its charm is all about the contrast between the piano part and the guitar riff, not to mention the big chorus and guitar solo,” Hook shares. “To me, that’s the Flat Black sound.”

Both “It’s Your Lack of Respect” and “Halo” are available now via digital outlets, while “Respect” is accompanied by a video streaming now on YouTube.

Flat Black is currently on tour with Godsmack.

(“Respect” video contains uncensored profanity.)
