Texas native Cody Johnson recently got to practice his roping skills halfway across the world in Australia.

The real-life cowboy and country star was in Australia opening for Luke Combs and got to rope at a rodeo Down Under.

This was a dream come true for Cody, who previously told Australia’s KIX Country radio station, “If I won a buckle in Australia, I’d probably never take it off. Just throwing that out there.”

In an Instagram Reel shared by Cody, Australian country singer Wade Foster cuts into the radio station’s TikTok video and says, “I see you want to go team roping in Australia? I can help ya.”

Cody and Wade eventually meet at an Australian rodeo and go team roping together, striking off an item on Cody’s wish list.

“Y’all on TikTok made this happen! Roping video – @kjewelz,” Cody captioned the Instagram Reel. “Australia, Ya’ll surpassed my expectations!” he added via onscreen text in the clip.

Fellow country singer Jelly Roll commented on Cody’s Instagram Reel, “International Cowboy! Love you bubba.”

You can watch Cody’s Australian adventure in full on Instagram.

Cody’s currently approaching the top 40 on the country charts with his latest single, “The Painter.”

Maynard James Keenan is taking his love for wine to the next level.

The Tool frontman, who’s long operated a winery where he lives in Arizona, has announced the launch of a new winemaking complex, set to open October 6 in Cottonwood, Arizona.

According to a press release, the facility boasts “a new winery and cellar, tasting room, restaurant, and food production greenhouse, gelateria, set amidst a vineyard in the heart of historic Old Town Cottonwood.”

“In the many years I’ve been working towards this moment, one of the things I discovered when it comes to bridging the hurdle of exposing people to Arizona wine is context,” Keenan says. “So by putting a place like this in the middle of Cottonwood with five acres of vines, to winery facilities with a full greenhouse, and a full kitchen, all the context becomes visible, and you kind of break down the barriers of whatever preconceptions you have of Arizona wine.”

Keenan’s enthusiasm for wine is well documented, and he even appeared in a 2021 Good Morning America segment to talk about Arizona’s wine scene.

In related Tool news, guitarist Adam Jones has unveiled the latest installment in his ongoing Les Paul Custom Art Collection series in collaboration with Epiphone, which features recreations of his Silverburst Les Paul with unique artwork by one of five handpicked artists.

The new piece, titled “Sensation,” features the work of painter Korin Faught, who’s also married to Jones. You can check it out now via Epiphone.com.

Tool will launch a U.S. headlining tour in October.

Coi Leray has dropped her new EP, Blue Moon – perfectly timed to the rare Super Blue Moon, set to appear in the sky Wednesday night.

The EP features five tracks, including the single “Isabel Marant,” which also has an accompanying music video.

“This EP, I get vulnerable,” Coi writes on Instagram. “I got tired of ‘trying’ new things and wanted to just do what I do BEST. I have a hard time with telling my story because I get wrapped up in the media narratives, however music is the best way for me to tell it.”

Wednesday, August 30, marks the last time a Super Blue Moon will rise until 2037, according to NASA.

Before Harry Styles became a globe-trotting, chart-topping solo superstar, he was just a teenage kid who got weepy at the idea that he was getting a shot at a music career. You can see it happen in 30 minutes of previously unreleased X-Factor UK footage from 2010.

The unseen footage shows the newly minted members of One Direction — Harry, Liam PayneNiall HoranZayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson — during the Judges’ Houses part of the competition, rehearsing several songs. They had auditioned separately, but judge Nicole Scherzinger decided to put them together in a group.

In the footage, the boys rehearse Natalie Imbruglia‘s “Torn” and perform it for judge Simon Cowell, who pronounces himself very impressed with how good all five of them are, “particularly the kid with the curly hair” — that’d be Harry. The boys also serenade Simon with a never-before-seen performance of Kelly Clarkson‘s  “My Life Would Suck Without You.”

After Simon tells the boys they’re through to the next round, they scream, cry and hug Simon. “I promise you, something magic has happened here,” Simon tells them. “Magic.”

Simon was right. Even though 1D didn’t win X-Factor, they quickly became one of the biggest acts in the world, breaking chart records, filling stadiums and eventually selling 70 million records worldwide. They went on permanent hiatus in 2016.

ABC/Randy Holmes

If you’re a Metallica fan who’s always wanted to be in the Snake Pit for a show, then this new video may have you yelling at your screen.

In an Instagram post, the metal legends have shared footage of someone from their team walking around the stadium during a recent show offering fans free tickets to the Snake Pit, an exclusive section right next to the stage. However, their mission proved slightly more difficult than expected, as many fans walked right by without realizing what they were saying no to.

“Didn’t think we needed to say this, but if someone approaches you with Snake Pit passes … take them!” Metallica writes in the caption.

Some of the fans did indeed take that advice, though they often took a lot of convincing that the tickets were actually legit. Prepare to hear the phrase “No way!” a lot.

Metallica’s current M72 tour, which supports their new album, 72 Seasons, kicked off in the U.S. earlier in August. It continues Friday, September 1, in Phoenix.

Michael Jackson’s daughter, Paris Jackson, paid tribute to her father on what would have been his 65th birthday Tuesday, August 29.

She posted some videos to her Instagram Story, acknowledging that her dad didn’t like celebrating his birthday.

“That being said, social media is apparently how people express their love and affection these days and if you don’t wish someone a ‘Happy Birthday’ via social media, it apparently means that you don’t love them, that you don’t care about them,” she said.

Paris posted a clip from her show in Colorado on Tuesday, where she spoke about her dad. “He put 50 years of blood, sweat and tears and love and passion into doing what he did, so that I can stand up here on stage in front of you and scream into a microphone. So, I owe everything to him,” she told the audience.

Her siblings, Prince and Bigi, also honored their dad’s birthday with a rare public appearance at Cirque du Soleil’s Michael Jackson ONE show in Las Vegas.

Michael died in 2009 at the age of 50.
