Static-X has premiered a new single called “Stay Alive,” a track off theirupcoming album, Project Regeneration: Vol. 2.

Like its predecessor, 2020’s Project Regeneration: Vol. 1, Vol. 2 features the final vocal recordings and compositions of late frontman Wayne Static. “Stay Alive,” which features lyrics about a “professional addict,” was one of the last songs Static was working on prior to his death in 2014.

“We knew that if we were going to release this song, we wouldn’t be able to tip toe around this tragic subject,” says bassist Tony Campos. “The first draft of the video was really hard for all of us to watch, so we ended up removing many of the more graphic scenes.”

“As dark as this piece of art may be, it is also a very honest representation of where Wayne was at during this controversial time,” Campos adds. “My hope is that when people see this, that they understand the cautionary tale that Wayne’s life ultimately became and can avoid some of those pitfalls.”

You can listen to “Stay Alive” now via digital outlets and watch its accompanying video streaming now on YouTube. Project Regeneration: Vol. 2, which also features a previously released cover of Nine Inch Nails‘ “Terrible Lie,” is due out November 3.

Original Static-X members Campos, guitarist Koichi Fukuda and drummer Ken Jay reformed the band in 2018. Since then, they’ve been touring with an unidentified singer known only as Xer0, who wears a mask onstage replicating Static’s signature look.

Static-X will launch a U.S. co-headlining tour with Sevendust in October.

Olivia Rodrigo‘s hit song “deja vu” mentions strawberry ice cream, which you can enjoy this weekend in an Olivia-inspired cone.

Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream is launching a promotion inspired by Olivia’s new album GUTS. On Friday, when GUTS arrives, through Sunday, all of its U.S. shops are offering a colorful cone option.

“This weekend only! We’re turning all Buttercrisp Waffle Cones & Bowls purple to celebrate @oliviarodrigo’s new album GUTS (drops Friday, 9/8). Catch the purple cones 9/8-9/10 in all shops nationwide,” the ice cream chain announced on Instagram.

According to the chain’s website, Olivia is a fan of the brand and even has a suggestion for what you should order during the promotion: the “Home Scooped Girl,” featuring a scoop of Brambleberry Crisp and a scoop of Wildberry Lavender on a purple Buttercrisp waffle cone. The name is a reference to one of the songs on GUTS: “Ballad of a Homeschooled Girl.”

Jimmy Buffett’s daughter Sarah Buffett, who goes by the name Delaney, is remembering her late father, who passed away September 1 after a four-year battle with with Merkel cell skin cancer.

Delaney shared a tribute on Instagram, writing, “I knew my dad my whole life but in his final days, I saw who he was: a man who spirit could not be broken,” adding that even though he was in pain, “he smiled everyday. He was kind when he had every excuse not to be. He told us not to be sad or scared, but to keep the party going.”

As for that party, Delaney says Jimmy “loved his weed and his wine, but the truth is, most of the time, he was high on life, and that is what he wanted for everyone: to enjoy the fantastic trip that life can be.”

“My dad was the joy he sang about. He was the hardest working person I’ve ever seen,” she explained, noting that while fans have thanked her for sharing her father with them, “I know he would have wanted me to thank his fans for sharing their lives with him.”

“We are his family but the stage was his home, and you, his band, and everyone on the road gave him the strength to keep going back,” she writes. “I’ll pass something along my mom said to me, ‘Whenever you feel sad or lost, look for the messages in the music. There are plenty.'”

She concluded with a message to her dad, writing, “You turned nothing into something and gave me everything. I will never be able to repay you or my mom for my beautiful life. I will love you forever, and I will always keep the party going (responsibly, of course).”

Charlie Puth has finally found someone willing to give him “Attention” for the rest of his life.

The singer, 31, is engaged to his girlfriend Brooke Sansone, 24. Charlie posted a series of Instagram photos of the two eating pizza — with Brooke’s huge pear-cut engagement ring on full display — and wrote, “I flew to New York to ask my best friend to marry me, and she said yes.”

“I am the happiest, best version of myself and it is all because of you Brookie,” he continued. “I love you endlessly forever and ever and ever.”

New Blink-182 music may be imminent, if the band’s website is any indication.

The site has been updated with a page called “Stall,” which first features a pop-up reading, “Site closed for maintenance.” Once you click through that, you’ll see a clip of someone dressed in a hazmat suit attempting to clean up a bathroom wall tagged with various Blink-182 references.

In August, returning member Tom DeLonge teased that Blink “music video(s) and album are only weeks (days) away.” That will follow October’s “Edging” single, which marked Blink’s first new material with DeLonge in over a decade.

Meanwhile, Blink is set to return to the road Friday, September 8, for a European tour. The trek had originally been scheduled to launch on September 1 but was delayed due to Travis Barker needing to return home due to an “urgent family matter.” Barker’s wife, Kourtney Kardashian, later revealed that she underwent fetal surgery to save their unborn baby.

Billy Joel is ringing in the New Year close to home. The Rock & Roll Hall of Famer will headline a special New Year’s Eve concert at UBS Arena in Belmont Park, New York.

The show will be Joel’s first time playing the arena, which opened in 2021. It is also his first concert on Long Island since ringing in the New Year at Nassau Coliseum in 2018.

“We are thrilled to welcome Long Island’s own Billy Joel to UBS Arena at Belmont Park,” said UBS Arena President Kim Stone. “To have such an iconic artist as our New Year’s Eve show is an honor. We look forward to ringing in the New Year with him and our guests later this year.”

A Citi presale kicks off Monday, September 11, at 10 a.m., with the public onsale beginning Friday, September 15 at 10 a.m.

Joel has a long history of celebrating the New Year onstage, including several New Years shows in the New York area. In addition to the 2018 Nassau concert, in 2013, he rang in the New Year at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. He also welcomed the new millennium at New York’s Madison Square Garden in 2019.

Britney Spears happy her “iconic” Pepsi ad will re-air during the MTV VMAs

Britney Spears happy her “iconic” Pepsi ad will re-air during the MTV VMAs
Pepsi

Remember back in the ’80s, ’90s and early 2000s when some of the biggest music stars in the world starred in Pepsi commercials? Pepsi is bringing them back for this year’s MTV VMAs.

To celebrate its 125 anniversary, Pepsi has rereleased some of its most famous ads. Versions two of them — Britney Spears‘ “Joy of Cola” spot from 2001 and Madonna‘s 1989 “Like A Prayer” commercial — will air during the VMAs on September 12.

In a statement to People, Britney says, “It’s exciting to see Pepsi celebrating our ‘Joy Of Cola’ spot as part of the 125th anniversary celebrations. This was such an iconic music video-styled spot that we shot 20 years ago, and [it] still resonates so much with fans. [I’m] excited to watch the spot re-air during the VMAs next week!”

As for the Madonna Pepsi commercial, she used it to debut the song “Like a Prayer” as part of a $5 million deal with Pepsi, marking the first time that kind of cross-promotion had been attempted.

The next day, she released the actual music video for “Like a Prayer,” which featured images of burning crosses, and Madonna kissing a Black saint. The video caused so much controversy — with even Pope John Paul II urging Italian fans to boycott Madonna — that Pepsi dropped the singer, reportedly allowing her to keep the $5 million.

Pepsi has also posted to its YouTube channel three other iconic videos: Tina Turner‘s 1986 “Taste for Pepsi” spot, Robert Palmer‘s 1989 “Simply Irresistible” ad and the truly legendary Ray Charles commercial from 1991, whose tagline, “You got the right one, baby!” became a popular catchphrase.
