Aerosmith is currently on their Peace Out final tour, and they’re throwing some surprises into their set for fans.
According to setlist.fm, at the band’s Friday, September 9, show at UBS Arena in Belmont Park, New York, they performed the Joe Perry sung tune “Bright Light Fright” for the first time since 1994. The song appeared on Aerosmith’s fifth studio album, 1977’s Draw The Line.
The show also included the tour debut of “Walking The Dog,” the Rufus Thomas cover that appeared on the band’s 1973 self-titled album.
If that wasn’t enough, the concert ended with the crowd joining the band to sing “Happy Birthday” to Perry, who turned 73 on September 10. They also brought out a cake for the celebration.
Next up, Aerosmith brings their Peace Out tour to Toronto, Canada, on Tuesday, September 12. A complete list of dates can be found at aerosmith.com.
Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke is featured in the new book The Singers Talk, in which musician and writer Jason Thomas Gordon interviews different singers about their voices. In an excerpt from the book, which was posted by Rolling Stone, Yorke talks about his early vocal influences and how hearing Neil Young allowed him to come into his own as a singer.
“I always felt that my register was uncomfortably high or awkward, or that my voice was too soft,” Yorke shares. “When I was 18, I took a year and recorded music for most of it. Then I sent the tape off, and it won, like, ‘Demo of the Month’ in this free music magazine, and this review said, ‘Who is this guy? He sounds just like Neil Young!'”
“I went, ‘Who’s Neil Young?'”Yorke laughs. “I’d never even heard Neil Young, so I went out and bought After the Gold Rush and was like, ‘Wow! It’s OK to sound like that?’ Because he’s slightly higher than me, but there was a softness and a naiveté in the voice which I was always trying to hide. Then, it was like, ‘Oh, maybe I don’t need to hide it.'”
During the interview, Yorke also shares his favorite all-time singers, including Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone, Scott Walker, Michael Stipe and Tom Waits, and picks his dream duet partner.
“John Lennon,” Yorke says. “It would sound awful though, awful, UGH. It wouldn’t mix well at all.”
The Singers Talk is out now. It also features interviews with Stipe, Ozzy Osbourne, AC/DC‘s Brian Johnson, Jane’s Addiction‘s Perry Farrell and Karen O of Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
Tyler co-wrote the song with Jessie Jo Dillon, Geoff Warburton and David Garcia, and it follows his self-titled debut album, which dropped in January.
“We had that title, and then we just started telling stories and reminiscing and just thought, man, this would be really fun to write,” Tyler recounts. “Let’s write a nostalgic song that kind of encompasses the heart of being present and living life in the moment and living life to the fullest and the simple things in life, you know, making time to enjoy those things.”
Demi Lovato was thunderstruck when she met her boyfriend Jutes aka Canadian musician Jordan Lutes.
In an advance clip of the LadyGang podcast obtained by People, Demi says she met Jutes, with whom she’s been linked since August of 2022, when he participated in a recording session for her 2022 album, HOLY FVCK.
“The way that I met my boyfriend was actually in a session. He is a musician himself, but he also co-writes on other people’s music,” Demi tells the podcast hosts. “So he came into the session and I literally was like, ‘Who is this guy?’”
“I texted my friends and was like, ‘Oh my God, the hottest guy just walked In. I am so nervous. I don’t know what to do with myself,’” she continues.
However, because Jutes kept everything professional, it took “a couple months” for them to become a couple. “He was just so focused on the music,” Demi explains. “So we were friends for a while and then told each other how we felt.”
Starting out as friends turned out to be a huge help in their relationship, she notes.
“I’ve dealt with that in the past of people having different motives and it’s just such a let down,” Demi says. “So I think when you’re able to build that friendship with someone, the trust is there that you don’t really always get when you first start dating somebody. Dating can be scary.”
Celebrating Demi’s birthday last month, Jutes wrote on Instagram, “happy birthday to my best friend. you’re obvs the most beautiful and talented person to ever do it. but more importantly you’re weird af and u make me cry laughing … i didn’t know the perfect person existed until i met u … i couldn’t be more proud to call u my baby.”
Erica Campbell, one-half of the Grammy-winning sister duo Mary Mary, will soon release her new album, I Love You.
The singer’s third studio project, expected out on September 15, was preceded by songs “Positive” and “Feel Alright (Blessed), both of which spent weeks at number 1 on Billboard‘s gospel charts.
“The “I Love You” record is special to me because it is a culmination of me totally receiving God’s love,” Campbell said in a statement. “These songs have taken time to record and write, and I believe it will reignite our desire for love and God’s love. Unfortunately, many people are hopeless and don’t have high expectations because of past trauma, but I promise you, this love record will reconnect you to God’s love.”
Featured on I Love You are fellow music superstars PJ Morton and D Smoke as well as Campbell’s sisters and the three children she shares with husband Warryn Campbell II: Krista, Warryn III and Zaya.
On Friday, September 15, she’ll celebrate the album’s release with a listening party at New York’s Sony Hall.
Prior to going solo in 2013, Campbell spent close to two decades singing the gospel alongside her sister Tina Campbell.

Paul Simon opened up about his hearing loss during an appearance at the Toronto Film Festival to promote his new Alex Gibney-directed documentary, In Restless Dreams: The Music of Paul Simon.
“I haven’t accepted it entirely, but I’m beginning to,” he told the audience at the Princess of Wales Theatre, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Simon says he still plays the guitar every day, sharing it’s not only an outlet to “express myself creatively,” but “It’s where I go for solace. If I’m feeling … ‘whatever.’”
“So it’s a very crucial thing to me,” he added. “You know, something happens to you when you have some sort of disability that changes your awareness or changes how you interact with life.”
Due to the hearing loss, Simon wasn’t able to tour behind his most recent album, Seven Psalms, noting that when he’s on the road, “I have the opportunity to really investigate the piece. And then it evolves to another standard and goes further.”
He is exploring new ways to get back out on the road.
“Although a week from now I’m going to try and work with two guitarists who will play the parts that I played on the record, and see if I can sing the piece,” Simon shared. “I’m not sure how I can integrate my voice with the guitars.”
So far, there’s no word on when In Restless Dreams: The Music of Paul Simon will hit theaters.
