Van Halen is sharing another preview of their upcoming box set, The Collection II, which revisits the band’s Sammy Hagar era.

In case you missed it, Van Halen recently released a remastered version of “It’s About Time,” a tune the band recorded in 2004 when they temporarily reunited with Hagar, who had left the group in 1996. Two other songs from that time, “Up For Breakfast” and “Learning To See,” also appear on the set.

The Collection II, dropping October 6, will feature newly remastered versions of the band’s four #1 albums with Hagar: 1986’s 5150, 1988’s OU812, 1991’s For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge and 1995’s Balance, as well as a fifth album, Studio Rarities 1989-2004, featuring eight nonalbum Hagar-era tracks.

The Collection II is the follow-up to Van Halen’s first box set, The Collection, which was released in 2015 and featured the band’s six studio albums with David Lee Roth. It is available for preorder now.

Lil Durk is leaning into a hip-hop legend for a new track with a sample of Missy Elliot‘s 2001 hit “Get Ur Freak On.”

He took to social media over the weekend with a 25-second preview of the unreleased song, later shared by Rap Alert and The Shade Room, that sees him rapping his usual drill-style flow over the iconic beat.

The short clip follows another music tease Durk dropped online — an upcoming collaborative project with the Chicago native alongside rising rapper Sexyy Red

“Y’all go ask @lildurk when we droppin!!” Sexyy Red wrote in a video post later retweeted by Durk.

Both music teasers come at a time when Durk’s deluxe edition of Almost Healed is expected. He first revealed the expanded album was set to drop in August by way of a special T-shirt worn during his walk-out appearance at fighter Jake Paul‘s match against Nate Diaz last month.

Durk also recently joined Jay-Z for a photo op after the two of them attended one of Beyoncé‘s Renaissance world tour shows.

“Trenches to billions,” he captured the Instagram post.

The late songwriting team of Burt Bacharach and Hal David has returned to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart for the first time in almost 20 years, thanks to Doja Cat

Doja’s latest single, “Paint the Town Red,” tops the Hot 100 this week. The track samples the songwriting pair’s classic “Walk On By,” which was made famous in 1964 by Dionne Warwick

Thanks to a sample in Twista’s “Slow Jamz,” featuring Kanye West and Jamie Foxx, Bacharach and David last earned a songwriting credit on a #1 song in 2004. That song, which spent one week on top of the chart,  samples Luther Vandross’ cover of Warwick’s 1964 release “A House Is Not a Home.”

And with Warwick’s voice used in Doja’s track, it marks the first time her voice has appeared in a #1 song since 1986, when her classic “That’s What Friends Are For,” which also featured Elton JohnStevie Wonder and Gladys Knight, hit #1.

Doja Cat has broken country music’s lock on the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Her new song “Paint the Town Red” ascends to #1 on the chart in its fifth week. It’s Doja’s second #1 hit, following 2020’s “Say So,” and the first rap song to top the Hot 100 in more than a year.

Country songs have ruled the Hot 100 for the past six weeks; in the year since a rap song, Nicki Minaj‘s “Super Freaky Girl,” made it to #1, the top spot has been occupied by more country, as well as pop, R&B and rock.

Doja’s song, from her upcoming album, Scarlet, samples Dionne Warwick‘s classic song “Walk On By,” which means the legendary singer’s voice is on top of the chart for the first time since 1986, when she hit #1 with the charity single “That’s What Friends Are For.” That song also featured Gladys Knight, Elton John and Stevie Wonder.

When “Paint the Town Red” came out in August, Dionne posted a video saying how much she liked it.

Scarlet arrives September 22.

Dustin Lynch has announced his new album, Killed The Cowboy.

Arriving September 29, the 12-song set features a collaboration with Jelly Roll and its dramatic title track, out now.

“When I’m off the road and working on my farm, I have a lot of inner dialogue. It’s a boxing match inside of me, between living in the moment and enjoying where I am, versus what’s the best version of me five, 10, or 20 years down the road,” Tyler shares of his upcoming sixth album. “What do I want to be? What do I want life to look like? Who do I want to be around? Killed The Cowboy is that back-and-forth.”

“It’s me asking myself, ‘Am I okay? Or am I weird for not having found my person yet? And is she even out there?'” he details. “My hope is that this album finds someone who needs to hear it. I want Killed The Cowboy to embrace the single people of the world and lift them up, to let them know that you don’t have to live a ‘normal’ life to still be happy in your own skin.”

Dustin’s currently top 10 on the country charts with “Stars Like Confetti.” The euphoric track is off 2022’s Blue In The Sky, which spawned the hit singles “Thinking ‘Bout You” with Mackenzie Porter and “Party Mode.”

Killed The Cowboy is available for presave now.

Here’s the track list for Killed The Cowboy:

“Killed The Cowboy”
“Honky Tonk Heartbreaker”

He always found beauty in nature and never took anything too seriously.”

The family also shared a message with fans, thanking “those who loved him for taking the time to look at his contributions in life through a unique lens.”

Metallica‘s Robert Trujillo took the stage a little early ahead of the band’s headlining performance at Phoenix’s State Farm Stadium on Saturday, September 9.

The bassist joined his old band Suicidal Tendencies, with whom he played from 1989 to 1995, during their opening set for the show. The onstage collaboration, which also included Trujillo’s son Tye, featured a performance of the ST song “I Saw Your Mommy.”

“Thank you Metal[l]ica, Phoenix, and Robert for coming on to play ‘Saw Your Mommy’ with his son Tye!” the “Institutionalized” outfit writes in a Facebook post. “Was [definitely] a night to remember.”

Metallica played Phoenix on Saturday after postponing the show from September 3 due to vocalist James Hetfield catching COVID-19. During the rescheduled performance, Metallica sold a poster with the original show’s date.

“That just makes it more of a collectible, right?” Metallica says.

Metallica’s next show is scheduled for the much-anticipated Power Trip festival, which takes place October 6-8 along with AC/DC, Guns N’ Roses, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Tool.

Michigan club declares “we are not ever rescheduling Puddle of Mudd” after concert cancellation

Michigan club declares “we are not ever rescheduling Puddle of Mudd” after concert cancellation

If Puddle of Mudd plans to ever play Flint, Michigan, again, it won’t be at The Machine Shop.

The venue has announced that it will no longer be booking the “She Hates Me” rockers after they canceled their upcoming shows at The Machine Shop, set for September 15 and 16.

“This is not a ‘due to circumstances beyond our control’ cancellation,” The Machine Shop writes in a Facebook post. “This is 100% [frontman] Wes [Scantlin].”

The post doesn’t offer any other context regarding how or why Scantlin canceled the shows, but he has made headlines over the years for various legal issues and erratic onstage behavior.

“The Machine Shop, his band and everyone involved are very disappointed,” the venue adds. “We will not be postponing the shows as we are not ever rescheduling Puddle of Mudd.”

Puddle of Mudd hasn’t publicly commented on the cancellation. ABC Audio has reached out to a rep for the band for comment.

Meanwhile, Puddle of Mudd dropped a new album, Ubiquitous, last Friday, September 8.
