The original members of Talking Heads — David ByrneJerry HarrisonTina Weymouth and Chris Frantz  reunited at the Toronto Film Festival, September 11, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of their iconic concert film Stop Making Sense

According to Consequence, the audience was up on their feet dancing during the world premiere of the newly restored 4K version of the film, with some of the band members reportedly joining in.

“When I was watching this just now, I was thinking, ‘This is why we come to the movie theaters. This is different than watching it on my laptop,’” Byrne said after the screening. “This is really different.”

The screening was followed by a Q&A, moderated by Spike Lee, who called Stop Making Sense “the greatest concert film ever.”

While relationships in the band have been rocky over the years, Frantz told the audience, “It’s so good to be here with my bandmates tonight,” adding, “I’m very grateful to be here tonight and to be able to watch this and to enjoy it so much.”

Regarding the appeal of the film, Harrison noted, “one of the reasons of the lasting power of the film is you see that we are having so much fun on stage.” Weymouth added, “I love that show. It was magical. Everything about it was so special. Love. Between us and the audience.”

One thing that wasn’t revealed was whether this reunion will lead to any new concerts or music from the band. In fact, the subject wasn’t even brought up during the Q&A.

Meanwhile, the screening of Stop Making Sense played in IMAX theaters across North America and it sold out 25 screens at 165 locations, making it IMAX’s biggest live screening event ever, earning $640,839.

Maren Morris has announced a forthcoming two-pack, The Bridge.

Arriving Friday, September 15, the two-song set includes new tracks “The Tree” and “Get The Hell Out Of Here.”

“BRIDGE; a connecting, transitional or intermediate route or phase between two adjacent conditions. ‘The Bridge’ honors where I’ve been and but also feels like a forward step into the sun,” Maren shares on Instagram.

“As I’ve been working on my record nonstop this year, I realized these two songs deserved a moment on their own – a story in their own right, written a day apart from each other – a tender duo and bridge to my next album,” she continues. “I welcome, celebrate and grieve the changes that have happened these last few years and these songs say it better than I ever could in a caption or interview.”

“The album is coming but in the meantime, let’s cross the bridge together,” adds Maren. “‘Wherever I’m going, hope I’m not the only.'”

Maren’s latest studio album is 2022’s Humble Quest, which spawned the singles “Circles Around This Town” and “I Can’t Love You Anymore.”

Rage Against the Machine will be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in November, but they’ve just earned perhaps an even more prestigious honor: a shoutout from Olivia Rodrigo.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, the “drivers license” star declares the “Killing in the Name” outfit to be her “favorite band right now.”

“I would just play it over and over again on my way to and from the studio,” Rodrigo says, adding that she wants to attend the Rock Hall induction ceremony on November 3  “so bad,” but can’t due to “some immovable schedule conflict.”

“I am literally going to cry myself to sleep about it,” she says.

During the interview, Rodrigo also talks about crediting Hayley Williams as a co-writer on her song “good 4 u” due to its similarities to Paramore‘s “Misery Business.”

“I was a little caught off guard,” Rodrigo says. “At the time it was very confusing, and I was green and bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. Is that the phrase?

“It’s not something that I was super involved in,” she adds. “It was more team-on-team. So, I wouldn’t be the best person to ask.”

Rodrigo’s new album, GUTS, is out now.

It looks like the big moment at the MTV VMAs on Tuesday night, September 12, won’t involve any of this year’s nominees. Instead, it appears we’ll be getting a big nostalgic moment.

Entertainment Tonight has learned that *NSYNC will reunite to present an award at the show. The last time the group reunited for the VMAs was in 2013: They performed as Justin Timberlake was being honored with the Video Vanguard Award.

The appearance ties in with the rumors that the group, which never officially broke up, has come together in the studio to record a new song for the upcoming animated film Trolls Band Together, starring Justin. An official announcement of said song may come at tonight’s telecast.

Taylor Swift is the leading nominee this year, with 11 nods. It’s not clear whether or not she’ll attend, but she was seen Monday night in New York City, close to the show’s Newark, New Jersey, location.

The show airs Tuesday night at 8 p.m. ET.
