The Rolling Stones headlined a surprise show at Sir Morgan’s Cove club in Worcester, Massachusetts. The concert was a warm-up show ahead of their American tour, and they were billed as Little Boy Blue & The Cockroaches.
After a local radio station spilled the beans on the secret, over 4,000 fans showed up to try and get into the 350 capacity venue.
Lucky fans who did get in got to see The Stones play such songs as “Under My Thumb,” “Honky Tonk Woman,” “Start Me Up,” “Sympathy for the Devil,” “Brown Sugar,” “Jumpin’ Jack Flash” and more.
The Stones’ full tour kicked off September 25 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

After postponing a concert in Indianapolis due to unspecified illness, Pearl Jam resumed their tour on Wednesday, September 13, in Fort Worth, Texas, albeit with a slightly different lineup.
The show featured ex-Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist and current PJ touring member Josh Klinghoffer on drums in place of Matt Cameron, who, according to Fort Worth Star-Telegram‘s recap, is recovering from a bout of COVID-19.
Additionally, the Star-Telegram reports that Eddie Vedder was battling the flu, though he still powered through the 27-song set, which included a cover of Van Halen‘s “Eruption.”
Cameron previously missed a few Pearl Jam shows in 2022, during which Klinghoffer filled in on drums alongside Jeff Ament collaborator Richard Stuverud, original drummer Dave Krusen and even a local high school student.
Pearl Jam’s tour will continue with a second show in Fort Worth on Friday, September 15. The Indianapolis date, which was originally scheduled for September 10, has yet to be rescheduled.

Can you believe Justin and Hailey Bieber have been married for five years? On September 13, 2018, the two tied the knot in a New York City courthouse, just two months after their engagement. Justin marked the milestone with a sweet Instagram post on Wednesday.
Next to a series of photos of themselves together, Justin wrote, “To the most precious, my beloved. 5 years. You have captivated my heart. I know from the depths of my soul down to my bones that this journey with you will only exceed our wildest expectations. So let’s keep dreaming big baby. Cheers to forever and ever. I love you with every fiber of my being.”
There’s still some time before Drake‘s new album drops, but fans won’t have to wait that long for a new song, because he’s dropping a new track with SZA.
Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, September 13, both Drake and SZA unveiled what appears to be the single’s artwork. The artwork features a playful image of Halle Berry getting slimed at the 2012 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards.
The Certified Lover Boy captioned the post with a shocked face emoji and green heart, while the R&B singer chose the vomiting emoji, hand over mouth emoji and eyes emoji.
Drake has been building anticipation for his upcoming album For All The Dogs, due out September 22, and he’s been dropping hints about a new song.
During a recent stop on his “It’s All A Blur Tour” in Austin, Texas, Drake excitedly informed the audience, “I know y’all are excited to hear the album. I know it’s like two weeks out, but I’m gonna drop a song this week – just to let you know what’s up,” according to UpRoxx.
Drake and SZA had a low-key relationship back in 2008, which remained a well-kept secret until Drake revealed it in his 2020 track “Mr. Right Now.”
After weeks of rumors and teases, *NSYNC has finally confirmed their first new song in 20 years, which will appear on the soundtrack of the animated film Trolls Band Together.
It’s called “Better Place” and it’s featured in the latest trailer for the film, along with a clip of the classic *NSYNC tune “I Want You Back.” As previously reported, the plot concerns Justin Timberlake‘s character, Branch, teaming up with his long-lost brother to rescue another brother and reunite their family boy band, BroZone.
You can hear a longer snippet of the song on TikTok, and you can presave it now: It’s due out September 29. Trolls Band Together, featuring the voices of Anna Kendrick, Camila Cabello, RuPaul, Amy Schumer, Eric André, Zooey Deschanel, Daveed Diggs, Kid Cudi, Troye Sivan, Zosia Mamet and many, many more, hits theaters November 17.
By the way, a comment that *NSYNC’s Chris Kirkpatrick wrote on bandmate Joey Fatone’s Instagram on Wednesday now makes sense. Chris wrote, “We’re so excited to see you excited!” Turns out one of the lyrics of the new track goes, “I’m so excited/to see you excited.”
This will be the first new song that *NSYNC has released since 2002’s “Girlfriend,” featuring Nelly.
R.E.M.’s Mike Mills is reminiscing about the band’s music in a new interview with Vulture and says he’s still surprised that “Losing My Religion” wound up being such a big hit for the group.
“When we started out, radio was still the dominion of what people disparagingly referred to as ‘corporate rock.’ It was safe and there was nobody taking many chances on it,” he says. “So the fact that we were able to break some of those doors down was very gratifying.”
Mills says “Losing My Religion” was only expected to be a “warm up track” to help get the next single played on the radio, but it took off.
“Nobody would expect a five-minute song with no chorus and a mandolin being the lead instrument to be played on the radio at all — much less become a worldwide number-one hit,” he says. “It was just crazy. Anybody that says they saw that coming is lying to you.”
The tune was so big, Mills says they were once riding in the jungle in Paraguay and heard it being played on the radio. “That was pretty surprising,” he says. “That’s when we knew we had a worldwide hit.”
Released February 19, 1991, “Losing My Religion” was the first single off R.E.M.’s hit album Out of Time. It reached #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 and is the band’s highest-charting single to date. It also topped the Billboard Alternative Airplay and Mainstream Rock charts.
Twenty-five years ago — September 14, 1998 — pop culture got a new hot spot: MTV’s Total Request Live, which provided fans with a single place to get up close and personal with their favorite stars, from boy bands to movie idols. Former TRL co-host Dave Holmes tells ABC Audio there’s no way to overstate just how big it was to that moment in time.
“TRL was TikTok and YouTube and Twitter and a skywriter and a blockbuster movie,” said Holmes, now an editor-at-large for Esquire. “It was everything. It was the epicenter. We live in too ‘niche-ified’ a world, really, for kids to understand how important it was.”
Holmes suggests one reason TRL became so influential was that in 1998, pop culture was more mainstream, with music, movies and TV shows that everybody knew. And, he says, “Everybody who was a face and a name and a voice in that popular culture had to stop by Total Request Live.”
The other reason was the sudden emergence of teen pop — Britney, Backstreet Boys, *NSYNC — leading to what Holmes calls a symbiotic relationship.
“It was the perfect timing. A new show was starting … and it just happened at the exact same time that there was pop music … that had faces and voices and players who the kids could invest in.”
Holmes, who was there at TRL’s launch — and confirms the fans’ votes really did count — thinks one particular video sums up the show: “I Want It That Way.”
“When it would come on [TRL], everybody would sing along,” he recalls. “Not only the girls that it was made for, but the boys who were a little ashamed. And me with my thing in my ear and a producer yelling at me, and the camera guy. It was undeniable.”
