Maren Morris and Hozier are teaming up for an upcoming episode of CMT Crossroads.

The show will feature collaborative performances of songs including Maren’s “The Bones,” “My Church,” upcoming song “The Tree” and Hozier’s “Take Me to Church.”

“Hozier is such a necessary artist to these times,” Maren says. “He meets every moment with tenderness, clever wit and a strong moral stance for what is right. I’ve loved becoming friends with him over the years and I truly consider him to be one of the best of our generation. It was so much fun to collaborate again.”

“Getting to share songs with Maren Morris for CMT Crossroads was a uniquely rewarding and fun experience,” adds Hozier. “I’ve often felt a great deal of kinship between her work and my own. Getting to explore that and work alongside someone so outrageously talented was a joy. There were moments on that stage that I got to be a musician, a performer, collaborator and an audience member to Maren’s beautiful new music all at once.”

Maren and Hozier previously released a duet version of “The Bones” in 2019.

CMT Crossroads: Hozier & Maren Morris premieres September 22 on CMT. You’ll also be able to watch it on CMT.com and via the MTV app starting September 23.

Maren’s two-pack release, The Bridge, drops Friday, September 15, and can be presaved now.

Duran Duran gets in the Halloween spirit with the just-released video for their latest single, “Danse Macabre.”

The animated clip, directed by Linc Gasking, seems to channel Tim Burton’s classic “The Nightmare Before Christmas” and features animated versions of band members Simon Le BonNick RhodesJohn Taylor and Roger Taylor.

“I like the idea that if you can imagine something you can make it come to life, well at least in animated form … With the ‘Danse Macabre’ video we did exactly that,” Rhodes shares. “We began by deciding who would be on the ultimate Halloween party guest list, then a selection of witches, mythical beasts, vampires and demons were rapidly developed, using the latest AI animation techniques.”

Those techniques helped speed up the animation process, with Rhodes noting, “Over a period of a few days we created a whole new universe populated with beautifully strange inhabitants to celebrate the release of ‘Danse Macabre’ with a gothic dream.”

“Danse Macabre” is the title tack off Duran Duran’s upcoming album, dropping October 27. The album will feature three new songs along with covers and new takes on old Duran Duran tracks. It is available for preorder now.

A new documentary about disgraced late ’80s/early ’90s pop duo Milli Vanilli is set to premiere October 24 on Paramount+, and a new trailer for the film has been released.

The film, Milli Vanilli, which had its world premiere at the 2023 Tribeca Film Festival, seeks to tell the true story of Robert “Rob” Pilatus and Fabrice “Fab” Morvan, who rose to superstardom with their debut album, Girl You Know It’s True. It all came crashing down when it was revealed that they didn’t sing a word on the album and were recruited by music producer Frank Farian to be the face of his recording project.

The duo had sold millions of records and even won the Best New Artist Grammy in 1990 but were forced to give it back when their deception was revealed.

The documentary, directed by Luke Korem, features never-before-seen archival footage and interviews, including a new interview with Morvan and interviews with those in the group’s inner circle. According to The Hollywood Reporter, it also includes an audio interview with Pilatus, given just two months before his April 1998 death at age 32.

Spinal Tap’s Derek Smalls declares he “Must Crush Barbie” with new single

Bottomland Productions/Immortal Records

Barbie may have been a huge hit this summer, but not everyone is a fan.

Derek Smalls, former vocalist and bass player of the heavy metal band Spinal Tap, has released his first new song in five years, “Must Crush Barbie,” in which he blasts everyone’s favorite doll.

“Been spending the last year or so as Brand Ambassador for BruegelCoin, the Dutch cryptocurrency,” Smalls shares. “Since it was cratering this past spring, I was following the news more than usual, which is where I got bombarded by all the Barbie BS.”

He adds, “I don’t know which angered me more, but it’s really hard to write a song about crypto. But the overwhelming shroud of pinkness definitely deserved a major pricking. And that’s where I came in.”

You can listen to “Must Crush Barbie” via digital outlets and on YouTube.

Released in 1984, This is Spinal Tap was a mockumentary about the fictional rock group Spinal Tap, made up of Harry Shearer as Smalls, Christopher Guest as guitarist Nigel Tufnel and Michael McKean as guitarist David St. Hubbin. Directed by Rob Reiner, the film poked fun of the ridiculous behavior of pretentious rock stars. In 2002, it was chosen by the Library of Congress for preservation in the National Film Registry.

It sounds like there is more Spinal Tap on the way. In 2022, Reiner revealed that he was working on a sequel to the film, which will be celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2024.
