Darius Rucker has dropped a nostalgic new song, “Southern Comfort.”

Chris LaCorte, Matt Rogers and Josh Osborne penned the track, and the breezy hometown ode finds Darius reliving heartwarming memories of life back home.

“That gentle breeze makes me think I’m three sheets to the wind/ When the fireflies light me up right makes the whole world spin/ If sunsets were like whiskey, man, I’d be seeing double/ Ain’t nothing in this bottle gets me drunk as Southern Comfort,” Darius sings over a rootsy neotraditional production.

“Southern Comfort” is the latest preview of Darius’ forthcoming album, Carolyn’s Boy, and follows earlier releases “Fires Don’t Start Themselves” and “Have A Good Time.”

Of the project’s title, Darius told NBC’s Today in November 2022, “I wanted to name the record Carolyn’s Boy because Mom never got to see any of my success. She died before any of this happened, so it’s just another homage to the greatest woman I’ve ever known.”

Carolyn’s Boy arrives October 6 and can preordered now.

Rhino

Pretenders’ brand new album, Relentless, is out now, and they’ve just shared another single from the record,  “Losing My Sense Of Taste,” which was inspired by the pandemic.

“That song was more a take on the whole lockdown experience,” Chrissie Hynde shares. “It is called ‘Losing My Sense Of Taste,’ though, as a matter of fact, I never lost mine during the Covid period.”

She adds, “But it did kick off the idea for the song – losing my sense of taste, my sense of smell, and sometimes the whole culture just seems tired. Not now of course, because there’s a new Pretenders album out.”

Relentless is Pretenders’ first studio album in three years. “Losing My Sense of Taste” is the fourth single they’ve dropped from the album following “A Love,” “Let The Sun Come In” and “I Think About You Daily.”

Pretenders currently have a handful of tour dates left for 2023. They play BBC Radio 2 in the Park in Leicester, England, on Sunday, September 17, and return to the U.S. with a set at the Ohana Festival in Dana Point, California, on October 1. A complete list of dates can be found at thepretenders.com.

Koryn takes a moment in the new track to reflect on God’s blessings and reminds listeners to do the same.

She sings in the first verse, “Sitting here counting my blessings uh, Ain’t no need for stressing my life/ My enemies, they might form weapons Yeah, but I know I’m protected by the blood, Protected by the love of God.”

Along with the song’s release on September 15, Koryn delivered the official music video, which sees her in angelic fashion, singing among clouds and blue skies, and in nature settings of grass fields and mountains.

Known for her ability to transcend genres, including gospel, hip-hop and R&B, Hawthorne rose to notoriety after appearing on Team Pharrell in season 8 of The Voice, where she placed fourth in the finals.

After signing to RCA Inspiration, she released her smash hit “Won’t He Do It,” which went on to earn RIAA-certified Gold status.

Art of Anarchy announces return with new lead singer

Art of Anarchy has returned with new music and a new singer.

The band, which was previously fronted by Scott Weiland and then Scott Stapp, now features lead vocals by onetime Journey singer and Sons of Apollo frontman Jeff Scott Soto. They’ll release a new album, Let There Be Anarchy, on February 16.

The lead single from Let There Be Anarchy, called “Vilified,” is available now via digital outlets. Its accompanying video stars Cuba Gooding Jr., is narrated by ex-Queensrÿche frontman Geoff Tate and makes reference to the 2019 Joker movie. You can watch that streaming now on YouTube.

Art of Anarchy, which was founded by brothers Jon and Vince Votta alongside ex-Guns N’ Roses guitarist Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal, was announced in 2015 with a lineup that also included Weiland and Disturbed bassist John Moyer. However, Weiland quickly distanced himself from the project, clarifying that while he did record with Art of Anarchy, he was never actually in the band.

The self-titled Art of Anarchy album was released in 2015 with Weiland’s vocals. Any chance of reconciliation between the two parties was lost when Weiland died later that year at age 48.

Art of Anarchy then released their second album, The Madness, in 2017, with Stapp on lead vocals. However, that relationship also turned sour, ending in a lawsuit claiming that Stapp did not properly commit to Art of Anarchy and refused to take part in certain promotional activities.

With Let There Be Anarchy, the Art of Anarchy lineup includes the Vottas, Thal, Soto and new bassist Tony Dickinson in place of Moyer.

Richie Sambora is once again getting Bon Jovi fans’ hopes up, suggesting in a new interview that his return to the band may happen.

Sambora recently appeared on the Shred With Shifty podcast, hosted by Foo Fighters guitarist Chris Shiflett, and he asked him whether a reunion with his old bandmates was going to happen, to which Sambora replied, “We’re talking about it.”

Shiflett then asked Sambora to clarify what that meant, wondering whether Sambora was saying he and Jon Bon Jovi are actually talking. Sambora replied, “Yeah, it’s that” and added, “There’s a demand out there for it, you know — especially outside of the USA.”

Sambora didn’t offer any further details, but if it does happen, it will be the first time he has played with Bon Jovi since 2013 when he left the group prior to a show in Calgary, Canada.

Back in February, he hinted that a reunion with Bon Jovi could be happening, telling Absolute Radio, “We’re talking about it. I don’t think there’s any reason not to at this point.”
