Katy Perry may make a special appearance this week — in court.

Bloomberg reports that Katy may take the stand as soon as Friday in a trial over the ownership of a $15 million mansion in Montecito, California. The seller of the home, Carl Westcott, founder of 1-800-Flowers, signed a deal in July 2020 with Katy’s business manager, agreeing to sell her the house for $15 million.

But then Westcott, 83, changed his mind, according to his son. He claimed he wasn’t in his right mind when he signed the contract because he was taking painkillers after surgery and that he no longer wants to sell the house.

Katy wouldn’t back down, though. Not only did she want the sale to go through, she wanted an additional $1.4 million from Westcott, which she says represents the money she could have made renting out the property if the sale had gone through as planned.

Westcott then sued Katy’s business manager in an attempt to cancel the sale. Lawyers for the business manager argue that Westcott knew exactly what he was doing when he signed the contract: He hired a broker,  looked for somewhere else to live, arranged for Katy to tour the property and then submitted a counteroffer, which Katy accepted. Two days later, Westcott changed his mind.

Westcott’s son has power of attorney for his father and has taken over the case; the son says Westcott’s mental health and physical health are failing. He says he offered to pay Katy to walk away, but she wouldn’t. He tells Bloomberg he was “appalled” at how he and his father have been treated.

Bloomberg reports Judge Curtis Kin of the Superior Court of Los Angeles will decide who gets the estate.

Universal Music NZ Ltd.

Lorde is looking back at her landmark 2013 debut album, Pure Heroine, in honor of its 10th anniversary.

“You may (like me most of the time) hold the opinion that this album has been MYTHOLOGIZED QUITE ENOUGH,” the artist writes in a letter to fans posted by the Lorde’s Email Archives Tumblr. “But a milestone is a milestone, so I thought coming here and typing some s*** to u about this time would be a fun thing for those who care.”

Lorde goes on to reflect on the circumstances that led up to Pure Heroine, working with producer Joel Little, her approach to fashion — “God, this aesthetic, It’s just TOO MUCH,” she quips — and the technology of the time.

“A lot of stuff isn’t good after ten years,” Lorde writes. “But I am still totally touched by this sweet record. I have deep respect for the vision of the little one making it.”

Pure Heroine was a handful of Photo Booth selfies and emotional Word documents and Tumblr posts (and a gorgeous over-decorated bedroom) before it was even one song,” she continues. “I had no reason, on paper, to believe that I was capable of anything. But if you can trust that the first impulse you had to create came from a place of deep wisdom, develop a few principles for your decision-making, and absorb a lot of stuff you find inspiring, you’ll have something special on your hands.”

Metallica is commemorating the anniversary of bassist Cliff Burton‘s death.

In a Facebook post on Wednesday, September 27, the metal legends write, “We miss you, Cliff,” alongside a video of a recent performance of the song “Orion.”

The instrumental “Orion” appears on Metallica’s Master of Puppets album and was largely written by Burton. Following his death, “Orion” became a tribute song to Burton.

Burton played on Metallica’s first three albums: 1983’s Kill ‘Em All, 1984’s Ride the Lightning and 1986’s Master of Puppets. He died September 27, 1986, in a bus accident. He was 24.

Metallica then recruited Jason Newsted to play bass. After Newsted’s departure in 2001, Robert Trujillo joined in 2003 and has remained Metallica’s bassist ever since.

Post Malone‘s baby girl turned 1 year old in May, but he has yet to share any photos of her, or even reveal her name — though he did tattoo her initials, DDP, on his forehead.

Speaking to CR Fashion Book for its Muses issue, Post explains, “I feel like a lot of people feel entitled to know every single detail of everyone’s life and it’s why I don’t want to post any pictures of my baby, because I want her to be able to make that decision whenever she wants to and is ready.”

But Posty is happy to share stories about his daughter, including how much fun he has dressing her in “everything camo.” As he puts it, “It’s so fun and I love seeing how far with her mom I can push it. Like, see if I can get her a tiny little night vision helmet and stuff like that.”

But he’s less enthusiastic about some of the other clothes his daughter wears.

“Her mom drives me nuts because she buys her Dior clothes and s*** and I’m like, ‘She’s growing out of that in a week!’” he complains. He also wasn’t thrilled about another purchase: “It’s scary because her grandpa got her a little Maybach and she loves it. It’s terrifying because I’m like, ‘You don’t like this car. You want something with better gas mileage, you want something that’s a little cheaper.’”

However, he tells the magazine he did shell out the money to buy his daughter a drum set, even though all she does right now is chew on the sticks.

Foo Fighters have shared a statement marking the one-year anniversary of the Los Angeles tribute concert to late drummer Taylor Hawkins.

In a Facebook post published Wednesday, September 27, Dave Grohl and company write, “One year ago today, 63 musicians gathered at the Los Angeles Forum to celebrate the life and legacy of our brother and bandmate, Taylor Hawkins with an emotional evening of loud love and loud music.”

“We thank each and every one of you for honoring him with us, and continue to celebrate his memory every single day,” the post continues. “Miss you, Taylor.”

Hawkins died in March 2022 at age 50. The LA concert was one of two tribute shows held in honor of Hawkins, along with one in London.

Guests across the shows included members of Metallica, AC/DC, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Blink-182, Led Zeppelin, Rush, Queen and Black Sabbath, not to mention Paul McCartney, Miley Cyrus, Joan Jett, Pink and Alanis Morissette. Both ended with Foo Fighters performing with guest drummers, including Hawkins’ son, Shane.

Among those guest drummers was also Josh Freese, who was announced as the new Foo Fighters drummer in May.

Foo Fighters released their first album following Hawkins’ death, But Here We Are, in June.

Since Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is now linked to Taylor Swift and no longer to former partner Kayla Nicole, there’s another celebrity who may be interested in spending time with Kelce’s ex.

The on-air reporter and fashion model shared bikini photos to Instagram back in July, but fans are just now noticing a comment Rick Ross made in an apparent effort to shoot his shot.

“Your future bright,” the rapper recently wrote under Kayla’s post.

Users on Instagram noticed the simple but seemingly flirtatious comment, with a few suggesting the two would make a good pair.

“She cold bro! Ross said ‘uuuuh,'” one fan said. “You shooting your shot?” another wrote.

The Rich Forever rapper’s alleged attempt at charming Kayla comes at a time when her past relationship with Kelce has resurfaced amid news that he’s now with Swift.

Kayla dated the NFL star for five years; they reportedly broke it off in May 2022.

New clue found in the search for Paul McCartney’s missing Höfner bass

ABC/Heidi Gutman

Some new information has been uncovered in the search for Paul McCartney’s missing bass.

The Lost Bass Project launched its global search to find McCartney’s original Höfner bass guitar in early September, and it’s already made some progress. The two-time Rock & Roll Hall of Famer purchased the bass in Hamburg, Germany, in 1961, but eight years later it disappeared, reportedly after being put away following the filming of 1969’s Get Back.

According to The Telegraph, over 600 emails came in within 40 hours of the search news hitting the press. One of them provided some previously unknown insight into the last whereabouts of the instrument, which has been described as “the most important bass in history.”

Ian Horne, a sound engineer with McCartney’s band Wings, revealed in an email that the last time the bass was seen was not in 1969, but on October 10, 1972.

At the time, McCartney was rehearsing for a Wings tour and recording his album Red Rose Speedway. Horne says the bass was stolen from a truck that was shuttling instruments from recording studios and rehearsal spaces in London. At the time of the theft, the truck had been parked in the Ladbroke Grove area of Notting Hill, West London.

“I knew it was Paul’s original Höfner bass that had been stolen, and I knew what it meant to him,” Horne says, noting they went door to door in the neighborhood looking for any information, but with no luck.

He says McCartney “told us not to worry, and we kept our jobs.” He added, “I worked for him for six years after the bass went missing. But I’ve carried the guilt all my life.”
