The Police earned their first U.K. #1 with “Message In A Bottle” from their debut album, Reggatta de Blanc.
The song went on to become a classic track for the rockers, although it was initially far from a hit in the U.S., peaking only at #74.
“Message in A Bottle” was one of five U.K. #1 singles for the future Rock & Roll Hall of Famers. In the U.S., The Police had only one #1 tune, but it was a huge one: “Every Breath You Take” spent eight weeks on top of the Billboard Hot 100 in 1983.
GloRilla‘s showing off her footwork in her latest song and video, “Cha Cha Cha” featuring FivioForeign.
The upbeat dance anthem is a mashup of GloRilla’s hardcore rap style and Fivio’s drill flow along with sounds of Nas‘ 2000’s hit “Oochie Wally.”
“We brought Memphis to NY to show Fivio how we do it,” GloRilla wrote of the new song.
“Cha Cha Cha” shows up on Gangsta Art 2, the 18-track compilation out by YoGotti and artists on his CMG record label.
Joining MoneybaggYo, 42Dugg, ESTGee, Mozzy and other CMG members are album guests Sexyy Red, BlacYoungsta and singer LehlaSamia.
Prior to the September 29 release of Gangsta Art 2, GloRilla took to Instagram with a self-shot video of herself dancing and throwing money to the project’s seventh track, “Pop It.”
While Oprah Winfrey has yet to weigh in, her bestie Gayle King is disappointed with Cindy Crawford‘s headline-grabbing comments about the talk show titan in Apple TV+’s new documentary The Super Models.
As reported, Crawford said she feels humiliated by her 1986 appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show, during which she was asked to stand up and model her body for the crowd.
“I was like the chattel or a child, be seen and not heard,” Crawford confessed, adding she didn’t get it at the time, when she was 20. “When you look at it through today’s eyes, Oprah’s like … ‘Show us why you’re worthy of being here.'”
Re-watching the clip, Cindy said, “that was so not OK really. Especially from Oprah!”
Entertainment Tonight caught up with King in New York City Thursday night, and she said she’s disappointed at the comments.
“I haven’t seen it, and I want to see it, but I’m surprised and a little disappointed,” King expressed. “Because I know Cindy’s been on her show many, many, many times and it has always been a pleasant experience.”
She added, “It’s not Oprah’s thing to humiliate or make anybody feel badly,” saying of the clip, “I have to see it, but, as far as I know, everything is good between Oprah and Cindy.”
It’s going to take Aerosmith a bit longer to say Peace Out to the road.
The band kicked off their Peace Out farewell tour in early September but were forced to postpone several dates after frontman Steven Tyler injured his vocal cords. Well, it seems Tyler needs even more time to recover because they’ve pushed back the whole tour to next year.
“Unfortunately, Steven’s vocal injury is more serious than initially thought. His doctor has confirmed that in addition to the damage to his vocal cords, he fractured his larynx which requires ongoing care,” read a statement from the band. “He is receiving the best medical treatment available to ensure his recovery is swift, but given the nature of a fracture, he is being told patience is essential.”
Tyler adds, “I am heartbroken to not be out there with Aerosmith, my brothers and the incredible Black Crowes, rocking with the best fans in the world. I promise we will be back as soon as we can!”
Aerosmith says the tour will resume “sometime in 2024″ and that new dates will be announced “as soon as we know more.” All previously purchased tickets will be honored for the new shows, and fans will be able to get refunds if they are unable to attend the rescheduled dates.
The tour, featuring special guests The Black Crowes, kicked off September 2 in Philadelphia and was supposed to run through February 29 in Cleveland, Ohio.
Britney Spears wants her fans to know that they shouldn’t worry about her — even if she’s dancing with what look like real, very sharp knives.
ABC News confirmed that this week, deputies from the Ventura County Sheriff’s office performed a wellness check on Britney after a division of LAPD received a call from someone who knew the star personally, expressing concern after she posted video of herself dancing with the knives. They determined that Britney wasn’t in danger after speaking to her head of security and her attorney. Now Britney herself says everything is fine.
On Instagram, she posted yet another video of herself dancing with the knives, and wrote, “know I spooked everyone with the last post, but these are fake knives that my team rented from Hand Prop shop in LA. These are not real knives.”
“No one needs to worry or call the police,” she added. “I’m trying to imitate one of my favorite performers Shakira … a performance I was inspired by !!!Cheers to us bad girls who aren’t afraid to push boundaries and take risks.”
It’s a great day to be an *NSYNC fan. The group’s long-awaited reunion single, “Better Place,” has finally been released — and there’s a new Justin Timberlake movie streaming on Netflix.
“Better Place” is from the soundtrack to the upcoming movie Trolls Band Together, which hits theaters November 17. In it, Timberlake’s character, Branch, goes on a quest to reunite the boy band that he and his brothers used to be in. It’s no wonder Justin decided to reunite his *NSYNC brothers for their first new recording in more than 20 years.
While each *NSYNC member gets a chance to shine, Timberlake carries the chorus of the upbeat pop track, singing, “Just let me take you to a better place / I’m gonna make you kiss the sky tonight / Yeah, if you let me show the way / I’m so excited to see you excited.”
As for the new JT movie that’s now streaming, Reptile is a neo-noir crime thriller starring Benicio Del Toro and Alicia Silverstone. Justin plays Will, a real estate agent whose girlfriend/colleague is murdered. The two fought the previous night, giving Will a motive — but in this film, everyone seems to have one.
Reptile director Grant Singer, who’s helmed music videos for The Weeknd and Ariana Grande, can’t say enough about Justin’s talents.
“He’s very special in many ways, primarily because he’s not just an actor. He’s not just a musician, he’s not just a singer. He’s, like, one of the greatest living entertainers,” Singer tells ABC Audio. “He’s, like, the most phenomenal dancer and performer. He’s like this very multifaceted … multidimensional renaissance man.”
“I’ve never seen Justin in this, in a role that’s so vulnerable,” Singer adds. “I thought he inhabited it so well. He brings such a nuance to it. It’s such an incredible performance.”
U2 is ready to hit Las Vegas. The Irish rockers will kick off their new residency, U2: UV Achtung Baby Live at Sphere, at The Venetian Resort on Friday.
The residency will be the first-ever show at the new state-of-the-art venue Sphere, which boasts a 160,000-square-foot wraparound interior LED screen with 16K resolution, along with an exterior that features 580,000 square feet of LED displays.
“Over playing a theater, most music venues are sports venues … they’re built for sport, they’re not built for music, they’re not built for art,” Bono previously told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe about the venue. “So this building was built for immersive experiences in cinema and performance … you can’t come here and see an ice hockey game.”
The Edge added, “The sound has been designed as a priority from the beginning. Best sound I’m sure we’ll ever hear.”
Unfortunately, the residency will be happening without the band’s drummer, Larry Mullen, Jr., who is sitting out the shows as he recuperates from surgery. Drummer Bram van den Berg will be filling in behind the drum kit.
Ahead of the residency debut, U2 gave fans a bonus treat with the release of new single “Atomic City.” “It’s a love song to our audience … ’where you are is where I’ll be,’” Bono says of the track, which features a nod to Blondie’s “Call Me.”
The Rock & Roll Hall of Famers, including Mullen, shot the video for the song earlier this month on Fremont Street in Las Vegas, the same location where they shot the video for “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” back in 1987.
U2: UV Achtung Baby Live at Sphere will consist of 25 shows, wrapping December 16. A complete list of dates can be found at U2.com.
