Foghat is gearing up for the release of their new studio album, Sonic Mojo, and they’re giving fans yet another preview of what to expect. The band has released the third single from the record, “I Don’t Appreciate You,” written by drummer and founding member Roger Earl.

“This song was written about the most obnoxious people in our lives, but in the most polite-ful way,” Earl shares. “And as our lead singer Scott Holt says when he announces the song onstage, ‘It is the most polite F/U song you will ever hear!’”

You can listen to “I Don’t Appreciate You” now via digital outlets and watch the video you YouTube.

Sonic Mojo, Foghat’s first new album in seven years, is due out November 10 and the band will be celebrating with two record release shows. The first is happening November 12 at The Iridium in New York City, followed by a November 17 show at The Coach House in San Juan Capistrano, California.

Foghat has several other concerts on the books for 2023; even after more than 50 years with the band, the 77-year-old Earl wouldn’t have it any other way.

“I’m going to roll till I’m old and rock till I drop,” Earl tells ABC Audio. “I love what I do and I play in a great band. And when I can’t play anymore, I guess that’s when it’ll end.”

Britney Spears‘ 2002 film Crossroads returns to theaters on October 23 to coincide with the October 24 release of her memoir, The Woman in Me. Britney writes that filming Crossroads wasn’t easy because she wasn’t able to separate herself from her character, so much so that she “became this other person.”

Speaking to ABC Audio, Crossroads director Tamra Davis says she wishes Britney had had a community of other actors at the time she could have spoken to about that struggle.

“I’m sad that she might have had some kind of emotional struggles through that,” Davis says. “But, I mean, that’s a common actor thing to happen.”

Davis notes that she did work “really, really hard” to make sure Britney delivered a convincing performance as Lucy, a high school valedictorian escaping her overprotective father.

“She couldn’t be Britney. Britney had to go away for her to be Lucy,” she says. “Every word had to be real and true and authentic … she had to become that character for it to be real.”

Davis says she hopes the new screening will allow Crossroads, written by Shonda Rhimes, to be reevaluated as an important film for women and girls. Back in 2002, she expected male critics to savage it — and they did.

“I just rewatched it again myself and oh my God, I got so mad,” she says. “I was like, ‘Who are you to criticize girl culture? … This is girls making movies for girls, by girls.”

Given what we now know about Britney, Davis says fans should resist the temptation to read Crossroads — with a plot that includes unfaithful boyfriends, overprotective parents and a pregnancy loss — as a reflection of Britney’s struggles at the time.

“That was what we all go through. We all as women have to deal with all of those things. And Shonda wrote a story about that,” Davis notes. “And so I feel like it’s not just her story. It’s a women’s story.”

Brandy mixes early music with new Stella Rosa Brandy partnership

Samuel Joseph @samshoots__

When Brandy walked into the designated interview room at Ada’s Place at Legacy Records, she expressed her excitement, and nerves, about discussing her newest business venture into the world of alcoholic beverages.

Her chat with ABC Audio revealed that her anxiety stems from caring so much about each of her projects — including her collaboration with Stella Rosa’s new brandy.

After joining forces with the wine company for a variety of reasons, Brandy said she was especially excited to bring some of her music into the mix.

She did so with the custom-made B Rocka cocktail, one of three original drinks offered to attendees at the special introduction event in New York last week. It’s most notably an extension of the singer’s moniker and the popular 2002 “B Rocka Intro” featured on her third studio album, Full Moon.

The singer, who recently started enjoying brandy thanks to the partnership, said she’d choose the song-inspired drink if she had to drum up a concoction of her own. And, considering the track’s often-cited connection to her evolvement and empowerment as an artist, it falls in line with why she loves it and even why the brand collaboration made sense to her.

“I love working with people that love working with me,” she said of the “natural partnership,” adding that it felt like the right connection.

The right connection not only because of the naming of it all, she said, but also because of the possibilities.

“I just think the product is so good, and it’s unique and it’s modern,” Brandy said.

It’s not every day that an undergraduate gets to intern for a Grammy winner. But that was certainly the case for rising country artist Megan Moroney.

While studying at the University of Georgia, Megan did an internship with Sugarland‘s Kristian Bush and his brother, Brandon. Speaking to ABC Audio recently, Megan recounted how that exciting opportunity happened and how it led to him producing her debut album.

“From the music business program, they made you get an internship. And the head of the music business program over there, David Barbee, was like, ‘This is the best opportunity I can give you. You need to go be a publishing intern for the Bush brothers. I know it sucks that you have to drive to Atlanta and there’s easier ones here that you could just go to and just check the box of having an internship,'” Megan recalls of their conversation.

“But he was like, ‘This is the best thing.’ So I interned for them,” she shares.

As soon as Megan stepped into their studio, she was in awe of the numerous Grammy awards on display. “OK, we’re keeping our mouth shut. I’ve written one song,” she laughs, recounting what she told herself then.

Megan’s relationship with Kristian was reignited when she arrived in Music City to pursue her singer/songwriter career.

“Once I actually moved to Nashville, [Kristian] checked in a couple of months after and I was like, ‘Hey, do you think you guys can maybe make some demos?'” Megan shares. “He checked in to see how things were doing, and I was like, ‘I need your help.’ And yeah, he helped me and then became my producer. So it’s really cool.”

Megan’s Kristian Bush-produced debut album, Lucky, is out now.

Fresh off the release Hackney Diamonds, The Rolling Stones‘ first new album of original material in 18 years, frontman Mick Jagger showed off his comedy skills with a surprise appearance on Saturday Night Live on Saturday, October 21, featuring host and musical guest Bad Bunny.

Jagger appeared in two sketches. The first revolved around the taping of a Latin soap opera, in which Punkie Johnson was cast even though she didn’t speak Spanish. Jagger, in a white suit and fake mustache, popped in at the end to break up a fight between brothers Bad Bunny and SNL cast member Marcello Hernández by slapping them around.

In the second, Jagger played “Sister Kevin,” a man posing as a nun to sleep with the other nuns, although throughout the sketch it was implied that Bad Bunny was the imposter.

Lady Gaga, who performed with The Stones at their Hackney Diamonds record release party on Thursday, October 19, also made a surprise appearance on the show, introducing Bad Bunny as musical guest. Plus, Pedro Pascal turned up during the monologue and in a sketch.

Pop Evil has premiered the video for “Skeletons,” the title track off the band’s latest album.

In keeping with the track’s twangy vibe, the clip finds a man in a cowboy hat riding through a desolate town looking for supplies. Unfortunately, he lives in a world that’s been overrun by robot creatures trying to hunt him down.

“Sometimes the little things in life come with the hardest challenges to overcome,” muses frontman Leigh Kakaty. “It was awesome to team up with our long-time friend and director, Johan Carlén, to tell this tale of one man’s determination; to risk it all in a world that is constantly coming after him.”

He adds, “With so much chaos in the world today, we feel it is important now, more than ever, to remember we are only human.”

You can watch the “Skeletons” video streaming now on YouTube.

The album Skeletons was released in March. It also includes the singles “Eye of the Storm” and “Paranoid (Crash & Burn).”

Pop Evil will launch a U.S. tour in support of Skeletons October 28 in Fort Smith, Arkansas.

The Rolling Stones’ Mick Jagger reveals what he misses most about Charlie Watts

The Rolling Stones’ new album, Hackney Diamonds, is out now. It’s the first record they’ve made without drummer Charlie Watts, although he does appear on the songs “Live by the Sword” and “Mess It Up.”

It’s been over two years since Charlie’s death, and in a new interview, Mick Jagger opens up about what he misses the most about his late bandmate.

“It’s a couple of years now, and I still think about Charlie a lot,” Jagger tells The Guardian. “I miss his laconic humor. His taste in music. His elegance. His don’t-care attitude – he didn’t get intense. Keith (Richards) and I get a bit intense.”

Regarding that intensity, Mick says he’s trying to be a bit more like Watts.

“I’m not as intense as I used to be,” he says. “I think about him when I’m playing, and what he would have played; whether he’d have liked this song, because I’d always bounce things off him. I’d be playing him the silly pop songs of the moment, and he’d love all that.”

Losing friends is hard and Mick says it doesn’t get any easier the older you get.

“But I hate to say this: as you get older, a lot of your friends die,” he says. “There’s a lot of people around your age, they’re dying all the time. I don’t have any friends older than me, only one. Apart from the band, all my friends are much younger.” He added, “It’s easier that way!”

Country group Restless Road has dropped their long-awaited debut album, Last Rodeo. The 18-track record includes “On My Way,” a motivational anthem about not giving up on one’s dreams. “We’ve been through so many ups and downs as a band, and that’s what this is about. Never giving up and always keeping your eyes on the road,” Restless Road shares.

Yellowstone actor and rising singer/songwriter Luke Grimes has rolled out his debut EP, Pain Pills or Pews. The eight-song set features one of Luke’s favorite tracks, “Ain’t Dead Yet.” “To me Pain Pills or Pews should feel like the very beginning of a story. The songs were chosen because they felt the most personal and even the outside songs felt almost biographical,” says Luke.

American Idol alum Colin Stough has released his debut EP, Promiseland. “This EP represents who I am and where I’m from. It speaks to my life these past few years and has become a source of comfort for me. Maybe that’s why I called it Promiseland. I hope it can be that for you, too,” Colin shares. Listen to the Charles Kelley-penned “If Not for Me” and the rest of the project now.
