Mick Mars bears no ill will toward John 5 for replacing him in Mötley Crüe.
John joined the “Kickstart My Heart” outfit after Mars retired from touring in October 2022. Said retirement has since led to a lawsuit over a financial dispute between Mars and his now-former band, but that hasn’t affected his opinion of John 5.
“Well, I’ve never disliked John, I’ve always liked him and still do,” Mars tells Guitar World. “He’s been a really good friend of mine for a long time.”
Mars adds that he feels Mötley “made a very, very wise choice with John.”
While he’s no longer in Mötley Crüe, Mars just dropped his debut solo single, “Loyal to the Lie,” on Halloween. He’ll drop an album, The Other Side of Mars, on February 23.

In their own picture, posted to Facebook, Ozzy dressed head-to-toe in black clothing, while an otherwise naked Sharon held a pillow.
Ozzy and Sharon previously teased the costume in an episode of The Osbournes Podcast.

Glamour has announced its 2023 Women of the Year list, naming Mary J. Blige and QuintaBrunson among the honorees.
“We didn’t think hip-hopwould ever make it to 50 years,” Mary said in her cover story. The nine-time Grammy winner, known widely as the “Queen of Hip-Hop Soul,” is recognized for the vulnerability in her music throughout her decadeslong career and the “hard-fought ‘now'” that’s prepared her for her next chapter.
“This is not an overnight success,” Blige told Glamour. “This is not an easy thing, this new me, this new Mary. This is hard work. When you’re happy and you’re strong, and you’ve been…[as] miserable as I’ve been in life and went through as much hell, it’s easy to revert back to the residue.”
Brunson, on the other hand, a new-ish kid on the entertainment block, is recognized for her recent TV and media success. Deemed the “head of her class” in her cover story, the Emmy winner discussed in a Q+A feature her upbringing in Philadelphia, her smash series Abbott Elementary and her desire to achieve much more.
“I think that part of me feels like I still have more to show,” Brunson said. “Abbott Elementary is only scratching the surface of what I’m capable of, and sometimes I feel that people think that making Abbott is easy, and it’s not.
Brunson added she often feels like the underdog, but it’s the fuel that keeps her going.
“I feel like I have more to show creatively. And I just got here. I just need more time,” she said.

The late Jimmy Buffett will be remembered at the 57th annual CMA Awards, airing live from Nashville, Wednesday, November 8, on ABC.
The show will pay tribute to the legendary artist with a performance featuring Buffett’s good friends Kenny Chesney, Alan Jackson, Zac Brown Band and Coral Reefer Band member Mac McAnally.
Buffett and Jackson had a hit with the 2003 track “It’s Five O’clock Somewhere,” which spent eight weeks at #1 on the Hot Country Songs chart, while Buffett and Chesney collaborated on the track “Trying to Reason with Hurricane Season.”
Buffett and Zac Brown Band did a CMT Crossroads together in 2010 and went on to collaborate several times, most recently in 2022 with a version of Zac Brown Band’s song “Same Boat.”

When boygenius sang “Will you be a satanist with me?” on their song “Satanist,” they probably weren’t thinking of Dave Grohl. Nevertheless, the Foo Fighters frontman made a surprise guest appearance during the trio’s Halloween night show at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.
Grohl reprised his role in Nirvana as he hopped on drums during boygenius’ performance of “Satanist.” Footage of the onstage collaboration was posted to social media by the Phoebe Bridgers fan account @BridgersonTour.
The original “Satanist” appears on boygenius’ debut album, the record, which was released in March.
In addition to sharing the stage in LA, boygenius is following Grohl’s steps to the Saturday Night Live stage: Foo Fighters played the show on October 28, while Bridgers, Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker will make their SNL debut together on November 11.

Tyla‘s rise to mainstream music fame continues. Her latest achievement: earning the title of Billboard‘s Rookie of the Month for October.
Tyla, a 21-year-old South African native, became a TikTok favorite with her breakthrough single, “Water,” and its accompanying viral hip-and-booty dance that many, like Ciara, try to imitate. She recently made her U.S. TV debut on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon with a performance of “Water.”
In speaking to Billboard about her newfound fame, Tyla said, “It’s crazy just being a normal girl in South Africa, and then living this dream that I’ve always wanted to live.”
She added, “I used to be so jealous watching all of the American celebrities on TV, like the Kardashians, Adele, Rihanna … NickiMinaj. I was like, ‘One day, I’m gonna be there.'”
The singer then opened up about her belief that “only Americans could be famous.”
“I did not know it could happen for us because it didn’t really happen very often for people in Africa and especially South Africa,” she said.
In the Q+A story for Billboard,Tyla also delved into career and personal topics, like her first introduction to amapiano music, coming up with her signature “popiano” sound, other songs she’s released — including her debut, “Getting Late” — signing with Epic Records in 2021 and more.
Is November 1 too early to start getting into Christmas mode? Nope — because Mariah Carey‘s just given us all permission to start decking those halls.
The self-styled Queen of Christmas has posted an elaborate video showing a vault, which opens to reveal Mariah encased in a block of ice, being “defrosted” by a group of helpers with hair dryers. But Mariah finishes the job for them by singing out, “It’s t-i-i-i-i-me!” As she hits one of her famous whistle notes, the ice shatters, and Mariah, dressed in a red-and-white Santa jumpsuit, is revealed.
As “All I Want for Christmas (Is You)” kicks in, Mariah is transported to a winter wonderland, where she frolics in the snow with her twins Monroe and Moroccan and some friends, amid presents and Christmas trees. She blows a big kiss as the words “It’s time!” appear to close out the festive video. She added the hashtag #MariahSZN.
Mariah’s Merry Christmas One and All! tour kicks off November 15 in Highland, California, and wraps up December 17 at Madison Square Garden in her New York hometown.
