A new book called Rebel Music: Bob Marley & Roots Reggae, in stores November 7, features contributions from Patti Smith, Bruce Springsteen, Lenny Kravitz, Paul Simon, Keith Richards and more.

The book comes from photographer Kate Simon, who met Bob Marley in 1975 and gained unprecedented access to him, his band and his fellow reggae stars. Originally released in 2004 in a sold-out limited edition, this marks the first time Rebel Music: Bob Marley & Roots Reggae has been widely available.

Patti Smith wrote the intro for the book, Kravitz wrote the foreword, and Richards wrote the afterword. Other artists’ contributions come in the form of essays or paragraphs, included alongside the more than 400 photographs Simon took of Marley and his circle.

Kravitz writes that Marley was “raw, powerful, vulnerable” and “a genius without pretense,” while Smith says he “kept his spiritual sense intact, even at the height of public acclaim” and “set an example for the rest of the world.”

Richards adds that Marley “never got over” discovering reggae in Jamaica in 1972, and Bruce writes, “He filled your spirit, made you dance and sharpened your thoughts.” Bob Marley & the Wailers opened for Springsteen in 1973.

Dan + Shay have been celebrating several 10th anniversary milestones.

On December 7, 2022, they commemorated 10 years since they first met, and this past October, they hit the 10th anniversary of the release of their first single, “19 You and Me.” One more’s in store for them in 2024.

“We’re coming up on the 10-year anniversary [of] our first album, [Where It All Began], [which] came out in April of 2014,” Dan Smyers tells ABC Audio. “Ten years is crazy. Time flies.”

Coming up, Dan + Shay will perform their latest single, “Save Me the Trouble,” at the 2023 CMA Awards. They’re ecstatic about this opportunity because it was one that they dreamed about since the song’s inception.

“When we wrote that song, we were like, ‘Dude, if we end up recording this song and it becomes a single, wouldn’t this be sick on the CMAs?’ And here we are. It’s climbing the chart just around [the] top ten on country radio, and we get to perform it,” says Dan.

“And honestly, as a fan of Shay’s voice, hearing him sing that song, it’s a very vocally acrobatic song. He’s going to absolutely kill it,” he adds. “It’s going to be an amazing performance. We’re fired up and [it’s our] first time performing it on an award show.”

The 57th CMA Awards, hosted by Luke Bryan and Peyton Manning, air live from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena Wednesday, November 8, at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.

Missy Elliott‘s mom seems to have been drinking from the fountain of youth.

After the newly inducted Rock & Roll Hall of Famer treated the internet to rare images of her mother, Patricia Elliott, fans were stunned by her youthful appearance and beauty.

Missy, who became the first female rapper inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, unveiled not one but two selfies of her mother, who smiled and posed for the camera during this year’s Hall of Fame festivities.

“Fun fact,” Missy tweeted, reiterating the surprising news that her mother never seen her perform live. “I said Lord she gonna gag hearing some of these songs.”

Missy said that she couldn’t have her mom miss her induction ceremony, where fellow rapper Queen Latifah presented her the honor on November 3, so she invited her — but did so with a cautionary message: “I said momma close ya ears when I say sumn crazy.”

The thousands of complimentary messages poured in. “Mom?! She looks like your sister!! She’s a beautiful lady,” one user wrote

“So this is where you get all of that beauty from!!! Wowww your mother is STUNNING!” another said.

“Excuse me? Your what??? Black people really age like wine & I’m just happy to be apart of it,” another commented.

One fan, who, too, pointed out the “beautiful” picture of Patricia, also noted how “proud of her babygirl” Missy’s mother might be, adding of the lyrics the rapper was always hesitant to let her mom hear — she most likely could “careless what you said.”

Missy revealed her mom never watched her perform live in a conversation with Good Morning America‘s Robin Roberts. She also disclosed she’s “super shy” and that throughout her decades-long hip-hop career, “nobody has ever heard me record before.”

Bruce Springsteen wasn’t supposed to attend the annual Stand Up for Heroes benefit for the Bob Woodruff Foundation — held November 6 in New York City — but he showed up anyway.

Bruce was originally scheduled to be on the road during the annual event, which raises money for veterans’ causes. But since he postponed those concerts due to a diagnosis of peptic ulcer disease, he was able to make it to the show, along with John Mellencamp, Josh GrobanJon Stewart, Tracy Morgan and Tom Hanks.

Bruce performed solo songs and duetted with Mellencamp; the two sang “Wasted Days” from Mellencamp’s 2022 album Strictly a One-Eyed Jack. According to the Asbury Park Press, Bruce also sang “The Power of Prayer” from 2020’s Letter to YouBorn In the U.S.A. cuts “Working on the Highway” and “Dancing In the Dark,” and debuted his recent release “Addicted to Romance” from the movie She Came to Me.

The Boss also continued his tradition of telling dirty jokes in between his songs.

Mellencamp, who introduced Springsteen as the “big brother” who he’s “looked up to … my whole life,” also performed his hits “Jack & Diane” and “Small Town.”

The Weeknd‘s fans from Down Under will have to wait a little while longer to see the performer in concert as he’s postponed the Australia and New Zealand segment of his After Hours Til Dawn Tour just two weeks before the scheduled kick-off.

“Due to unforeseen circumstances, we must reschedule the Australia/New Zealand tour,” the “Starboy” singer shared in a statement posted on the tour’s website. “New dates will be announced next year, and current tickets will be valid for the new shows. Refunds will be available for those unable to attend the new dates. Deeply disappointed but can’t wait to be there with you!”

The site also shared a message from Live Nation Australia & New Zealand, expressing understanding for the fans’ disappointment and a commitment to collaborate with The Weeknd to secure a new tour schedule. Further announcements are expected shortly.

The tour was originally slated for an 11-date journey across Australian and New Zealand cities, beginning on November 20 in Brisbane and concluding on December 9 in Auckland. The After Hours Til Dawn Tour was set to celebrate his 2020 album After Hours and the 2022 release Dawn FM.

Jung Kook appeared on NBC’s Tonight Show on Monday and discussed the success of his single “Seven,” among other things.

At one point, Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon asked the BTS member if there was a Golden World Tour in our future.

“Of course I want to do a world tour as a solo artist, but I don’t think I have enough songs for that,” he replied, speaking in his native language as subtitles appeared at the bottom of the screen. “So I want to complement them more and make more songs, and maybe when I’m ready, I can do the tour in full swing.”

Meanwhile, the “Seven” singer’s first live solo concert, Golden Live on Stage, featuring songs from the album will be livestreamed on November 20.

Fallon also revealed that after “Seven” became the fastest song in history to reach 1 billion streams, the single achieved platinum status earlier on Wednesday.

“You really make it sound like I’m a huge global pop star,” he commented, drawing cheers from Fallon’s audience.
