Lil Durk‘s latest single, “Smurk Carter,” gets Lil Wayne‘s stamp of approval.

After taking a listen to the new song, credited as Durk’s homage to the rap icon — and another of his idols, Jay-Z — Wayne said he liked what he heard.

“That b**** was bad, that b**** hard,” Wayne said in a video shared to Durk’s Instagram Story. “Shout out to that boy, man.”

The “Smurk Carter” music video, which premiered November 10, the same day he released the track, sees Durk channeling early 2000s Wayne with a purple camouflage BAPE hoodie, similar to the one the “A Milli” rapper wore to 2005 BET Awards.

On the matching cover art, Durk sports a few face tattoos that match the ones permanently etched into Wayne’s forehead and cheeks.

When sharing the release news with his followers on Instagram, Durk posted a clip of the music video, captioning the post with lyrics “Duffle Bag Boy,” which is also the title of Playaz Circle‘s 2007 hit featuring Lil Wayne.

Cardi B says fans might just be in for new music before the end of 2023.

The rapper took to social media with the update that she’s pondering the thought of dropping a project, but she’s not quite sure what it’d be.

“I was thinking about being really quiet, really private but I don’t know.” Cardi is heard saying in a voice note shared by The Neighborhood Talk.

She added, “Maybe I should just — maybe I should put a little something, something out before the year ends.”

Cardi then threw out the idea of her creating something simple, like a music video from the comfort of her own home kitchen. “Would y’all mind?” she asked.

“I don’t really have nothing planned for right now” she continued, adding she’ll put more thought into the idea.

Cardi wrapped by noting that she’s compelled to put out music because “I feel like I gotta talk my s*** a little bit.”

Cardi’s latest projects include her latest Megan Thee Stallion collaboration, “Bongos,” which she performed at the 2023 MTV VMAs, as well as a series of songs with her rapper husband, Offset, including “Jealousy” and “Freaky.”

Dave Grohl rocked with his daughter Violet onstage for a joint rendition of Nirvana‘s “Heart-Shaped Box” during a concert in Los Angeles on Saturday, November 11.

The Foo Fighters frontman reprised his Nirvana role on drums while Violet handled lead vocals. Footage of the father-daughter jam was posted to Instagram by rock TV personality Matt Pinfield, who was in attendance.

According to setlist.fm, the show, which featured longtime David Bowie pianist Mike Garson, saw Dave and Violet performing a variety of Bowie covers, including “The Man Who Sold the World,” which Nirvana famously covered on MTV Unplugged. They also sang the Foos song “Show Me How.”

Garson shared photo from the concert in a social media post. “What a wonderful night together!” the caption reads.

Dave and Violet previously performed “Heart-Shaped Box” in 2020.

Dua Lipa explains hair color change, talks “psychedelic” new album

Tyrone Lebon

Dua Lipa is heading into her new era with a new song, “Houdini,” and a new look: She’s dyed her hair red. It turns out, she’s got an unusual reason for switching up her hair color.

Speaking to Zoe Ball on BBC Radio 2, Dua explained, “When I was working on my new album, a lot of the songs I just saw in the color red —  there was just a feeling I had. And I was like ‘Oh I think I could do that change.’ And also I felt like it wouldn’t be as horrible on my hair as the blonde was! That was a little bit traumatic for me, the bleach, it was all just fizzling away.”

She added, “This is a little bit more manageable and I feel like it’s a change … it just gives you like a little bit of something different, and a fresh start.”

Dua also told Ball that fans were correct in thinking the smashed mirror ball in the video for her hit “Dance the Night” was her way of saying bye to disco as she moves into her next era.

“It’s definitely more psychedelic-leaning,” she said of her new album’s feel. It also seems to have a concept: While speaking about “Houdini,” Dua told Ball, “It’s the first story in a chronological series of stories of the fun parts of singledom, essentially.”
