David Lee Roth made a surprise appearance at Coachella Friday, turning up during pop star Teddy Swims’ afternoon set.

After Swims finished his song “Mr. Know It All,” the sound of a doorbell chimed, and Swims told the crowd, “I’ll get it. I wonder who it could be this time.” Swims then opened the door to Roth, shouting, “Oh my god it’s David Lee Roth from the best f****** band of all time, Van Halen.”

The pair then joined forces to perform Van Halen’s #1 song “Jump,” from their album 1984. Roth was all smiles during the performance, and towards the end of the song he even took a triumphant strut down the catwalk while twirling his mic stand. Once the song was over he left the stage through the same door he entered through.

“Touchdown, Coachella,” Roth later wrote on Instagram next to a picture of him hugging Swims on stage.

Roth was one of three guests Swims brought out for his Coachella set. He was also joined by Joe Jonas and Vanessa Carlton.

Roth is set to kick off a new tour on April 16 in Airway Heights, Washington, with dates confirmed through June 20 in Milwaukee. He’s also performing at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in Sturgis, South Dakota, on Aug. 7. A complete list of dates can be found at DavidLeeRoth.com.

As Violet Grohl prepares to release her debut album, Be Sweet to Me, she’s very aware that her father is one of the biggest names in rock music.

“Obviously, doors are open for me because of my last name,” the daughter of Dave Grohl tells The Forty-Five. “It’s not something I’m ever going to hide behind or say, ‘No, I worked so hard for this! You guys shouldn’t say that! That hurts my feelings.’ I don’t care – I really don’t.”

“I’ve heard that since I was 13 years old,” Violet continues. “So call me a Nepo Baby all you want. It’s ‘whatever’ to me. I just hope that eventually people will give me a shot.”

If you have any doubts about Violet’s musical talent, she simply advises you to listen to her album or see her perform.

“Come see me live,” she says. “Come listen to my music and then you can decide for yourself if I’m worthy of this career or not.”

Be Sweet to Me is due out May 29. Violet will be playing England’s Reading & Leeds in August and the Shaky Knees Festival in Atlanta in September.

The first single off Paul McCartney’s upcoming solo album, The Boys of Dungeon Lane, has put the two-time Rock & Roll Hall of Famer back on the Billboard charts.

The tune, “Days We Left Behind,” has debuted at #22 on the Adult Contemporary radio airplay chart. It’s McCartney’s highest debut on that chart since the Wings track “With a Little Luck” debuted at #21 in 1978.

The rocker’s last appearance on the AC chart was back in October 2018, when “Come On To Me,” from his album Egypt Station, peaked at #10, becoming McCartney’s 19th solo top-10 single. His first appearance on the chart as a solo artist was in 1971 with “Another Day,” which peaked at #4.

But that’s not the only chart where “Days We Left Behind” is making its mark. The song also debuted at #7 on the Rock Digital Songs chart.

The Boys of Dungeon Lane will be released May 29. It is McCartney’s first solo album since 2020’s McCartney III.

If you want to get to know Ella Langley better, she says all you need to do is listen to her much-anticipated second album, which is out now.

Dandelion is a natural next phase after hungover,” she says, referencing her debut album. “hungover is what brought people to the table, and Dandelion is what makes them sit down and eat.”

“This album explains who I am as an artist and as a person,” she continues. “It reflects on what made me this way while giving a glimpse of what’s next. It’s my favorite project I’ve ever done, it’s the most ‘me’ I’ve ever put out.”

The 18-track record is bookended by Ella’s version of the folk song “Froggy Went A Courtin’,” one of the first songs she remembers, and one her grandfather taught her.

She co-produced the album along with Ben West and Miranda Lambert, the album’s only guest on “Butterfly Season.”

Miranda also co-wrote the Platinum-selling “Choosin’ Texas,” which is currently spending its fifth record-setting week atop Billboard‘s all-genre Hot 100.

Ella kicks off The Dandelion Tour May 7 in Toledo, Ohio, her first time headlining arenas.

Myles Smith has released his new song, “My Mess,” and he posted a heartfelt message to go along with it.

The British singer wrote to fans on Instagram, saying he’s been reading their messages since the song dropped and it’s been “a bit overwhelming in the most beautiful way.”

“This song was never about being the biggest or the loudest moment,” he says. “It was always meant to be an honest one. Something that brings you into the world of my album… properly. No filter, no pretending.”

“And today, seeing how many of you have found yourselves in it… people telling me they cried for the first time in years, people saying they felt seen, understood… that’s everything to me,” he adds. “That connection. That feeling. That’s why I do this.”

He goes on to say he feels lucky to have “the most incredible fan base in the world.”

“I’m still figuring things out,” he writes. “I still have my struggles. But you make me feel less alone in them. And that means more than I can ever explain. Thank you for letting this song be yours as much as it is mine.”

Myles’ album, My Mess. My Heart. My Life., arrives June 11.
