Chappell Roan has responded to Brazilian soccer star Jorginho Frello, after he claimed her security confronted his 11-year-old daughter for just looking at the pop star.

Frello wrote on his Instagram Story that his wife and daughter were staying at the same hotel in Brazil as Roan, who was there to headline Lollapalooza. He said his daughter was “extremely excited” because Roan was someone she “admired a lot.”

At breakfast, Frello says his daughter saw that Roan was there too but insists she didn’t bother the singer.

“She just passed by the singer’s table, looked over to confirm it was her, smiled, and went back to the table with her mom,” he wrote. “She didn’t say anything, didn’t ask for anything.”

Frello wrote that after that, a security guard confronted his family and spoke “extremely aggressively” towards his wife and daughter, accusing his daughter of “disrespect” and “harassment,” which scared her and left her crying.

But in a video posted to her Instagram Story, Roan insisted the person who confronted the 11-year-old was not part of her “personal security.”

“I didn’t even see a woman and a child … No one came up to me. No one bothered me,” she said. “I did not ask the security guard to go up and talk to this mother and child.”

“It’s unfair for security to just assume someone doesn’t have good intentions when they have no reason to believe because there’s no action even taken,” she added, noting, “Like, I do not hate people who are fans of my music. I do no hate children. Like, that is crazy.”

Roan also apologized to Frello’s wife and daughter if they “felt uncomfortable” noting, “that makes me really sad. You did not deserve that.”

Actor Michael Shannon and his musical partner Jason Narducy have been touring in celebration of the music of R.E.M. since 2023, and R.E.M.’s Mike Mills says the shows have given him some insight into his own band.

“One of the ironies about being in R.E.M. is that I could never see my band play. I could never truly know the effect our music had on our fans, or what it might have felt like to see us at any point in our musical journey, especially the early days,” he writes on Instagram, noting that he “was able to get an idea of what it might have been like to see R.E.M. perform” thanks the pair and their band.

He adds, “This band not only reinforced what I thought we sounded like, but gave me an idea of the power, and the joy, of an R.E.M. show.”

Mills notes that Shannon and Narducy aren’t “imitators” or “copycats,” but “seriously talented musicians, and a real band who loves our music as much as we do, and that love shows in their performance.”

Mills has joined them on stage during their tours, and he says getting to play with them “was more fun than I’ve had doing almost anything in quite a while.”

Finally, Mills adds, “Thank you, guys, for being so much more than a mirror, for being a great band, and for keeping the joy of our music alive for us, and for our fans.”

Shannon and Narducy’s most recent R.E.M. tour was in celebration of the 40th anniversary of R.E.M.’s fourth studio album, Lifes Rich Pageant. They will kick off another leg of the tour in September.

Ronnie Wood is not just a rock ‘n’ roll star. He’s also known for his art, and he just debuted two new pieces of Rolling Stones-inspired artwork.

The first piece, Philadelphia 1981 III, is a painting of Wood and guitarist Keith Richards at Philadelphia’s JFK Stadium during The Stones’ Tattoo You American Tour. The second, Sympathy for the Devi, is an action shot of frontman Mick Jagger from the Voodoo Lounge tour, with Jagger wearing a feathered top hat and sunglasses.

Both prints, signed by Wood, come unframed and are available for preorder now, with shipping to start March 26. They are both limited to just under 300 copies each.

More info on these prints, and other pieces of Ronnie Wood art, can be found at RonnieWood.com.

While there’s been no word on whether The Rolling Stones have any plans to tour anytime soon, Wood is planning to take the stage in 2026. He recently announced two shows with his band at the Paradiso in Amsterdam, Sept. 7 and 8.

He is also playing Burg Clam castle in Sperken, Austria, with Van Morrison, on July 16, and the Lucca Summer Festival in Tuscany, Italy, on July 17.

New music Friday: RAYE, Niall Horan and more

Ahead of the March 27 release of her new album, This Music May Contain Hope, RAYE has shared another track. She’s been performing “Click Clack Symphony,” a collaboration with famed movie composer Hans Zimmer, on her current tour, which arrives in the U.S. at the end of March. “The song is about the sounds that high heels make,” says RAYE. “It’s about those times in our life when you need your best friends or your siblings to drag you out of the house and say ‘I know you’re not in the best place right now but we need to get outside.'”

Niall Horan has dropped the title track from his upcoming album Dinner Party, due June 5. Niall describes the album as “a thank you to the past and a hello to the present, covering the big life events and the small, sometimes messy, in-between moments that actually make them up.”

Lizzo starts her new era with a new song and video called “Don’t Make Me Love U,” which she refers to as “THE NEW NATIONAL ANTHEM.” The video, according to a press release, “gives a surreal and visually striking look into a familiar relationship of grappling with your past-self, reflecting and eventually evolving through learning and growth.”

Jelly Roll is out with “Lighter,” a song produced by Canadian songwriter and producer Cirkut that features him singing with Mexican artist Carín León. It’s from the Official FIFA World Cup 2026™ Album, and it’s meant to represent all three of the tournament’s host nations.

“A Lot More Free” singer Max McNown is out with a new single, “Standstill (My, My, My).” He says the song is about a person who met the love of their life, which “seemed to freeze this person in time, and ultimately change their trajectory completely.”

Def Leppard has joined in on the viral “what were you like in the ‘90s” trend, but with a twist.

The trend has celebrities and social media users posting a current video of themselves, and then following it up with photos and video of them in the ’90s, with many of the clips set to the Goo Goo Dolls’ hit “Iris.”

Well, Def Leppard is throwing it back to a different decade, posting a video that starts out with current clips of band members Joe Elliott, Phil Collen, Rick Savage and Rick Allen, and the question, “What were you guys like in the 80s?” The newer videos are followed by several throwback photos of the band in the ’80s, with the clip soundtracked to “Photograph,” their #1 hit from 1983.

They captioned the post, “All I’ve got is a photograph #defleppard #80s.”

It’s important to note that guitarist Vivian Campbell isn’t featured in the clip, because he didn’t join Def Leppard until 1992.

Def Leppard recently wrapped a Las Vegas residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace. They are set to launch a tour of India on Wednesday, with a European tour to follow. A complete list of dates can be found at DefLeppard.com.

Mike WiLL Made-It has released his new album, R3SET, inspired by his personal and creative reset after hitting rock bottom following the loss of his hard drive containing his music.

“We all go through ups and downs and bumps and turbulence and all that kind of stuff during whatever journey,” he tells The Associated Press. “So I definitely was going through that, but then at the same time, I’m just being creative as well too because I feel like even over that time, I was able to do a lot of reflection and look at the landscape of the game and just really learned a lot.”

After fulfilling label obligations and questioning his next musical direction, Mike said he felt stuck and discouraged, especially as relationships shifted.

“When you hot everybody in your face … they rocking with you,” he said. “If you’re not in their face, if you not on them charts or you not hot, the conversation just a little different. You not able to reach the same folks at the same time so that kind of gets discouraging.”

“Then I had to realize every artist, every person is their own corporation,” he continued, adding he had to stop putting so much pressure on himself and just believe. “I’m him, I am the hard drive,” he said.

R3SET features previously released singles “D33P3R” featuring Teezo Touchdown and Ludacris; “ROOMS” featuring YoungBoy Never Broke Again and Chief Keef; and “STANDING O” with Travis Porter and Monaleo. Other guest appearances include 21 Savage, Young Thug, 2 Chainz, CeeLo Green and J. Cole.

The album is now streaming, with a limited-edition double disc 12-inch vinyl and a standard CD available on his website.

Keith Urban was honored with the Randy Owen Angels Among Us Award Thursday at Country Radio Seminar in Nashville.

The accolade is named for the Alabama legend and the band’s 1993 hit, recognizing his work that’s raised more than $1 billion for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital since 1989.

Keith’s history with the Memphis nonprofit dates back to his first visit in 1998.

“Being recognized with the Angels Among Us Award is not something I take lightly,” he says. “I’ve witnessed the courage shown by the children and families at St. Jude for more than 20 years, and it never ceases to amaze me. By standing together, we’ve been able to help St. Jude continue advancing research and treatment for children around the world with cancer and other life-threatening diseases. It is an absolute honor to stand behind a mission this meaningful.”

On a musical note, Keith revealed he’s working on a new yacht rock project, previewing it during MCA’s annual lunch Thursday at the Ryman.
