Jimmy Buffett is shelving the remaining five dates on his 2022 Life on the Flip Side – Redux tour after being briefly hospitalized and experiencing unspecified health issues.

A message on the 75-year-old singer/songwriter’s official website reports, “On doctor’s orders, he must take this time to recuperate and heal. Jimmy looks forward to getting back on stage next year.”

Buffett and his Coral Reefer Band‘s concerts scheduled for October 8 and October 15 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas have been pushed back to March 4 and March 11, respectively, while a new date for his October 22 show at San Diego’s Snapdragon Stadium hasn’t been announced yet.

Jimmy’s two other 2022 shows, which had been scheduled for October in Salt Lake City and Nampa, Idaho, have been canceled.

Those who purchased tickets for the rescheduled concerts are encouraged to hold onto them, as they will be accepted at the rescheduled events. Tickets for the canceled shows will be refunded.

In other Buffett news, Jimmy has been announced as the final collaborator on Grammy-winning country group Zac Brown Band‘s upcoming deluxe edition of its 2021 album The Comeback, which is due out October 15.

Buffett will join Brown and company on a new rendition of the band’s country hit “Same Boat.” Zac Brown Band and Buffett famously collaborated on the 2011 single “Knee Deep,” which hit #1 on country radio and reached the top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100.

Former Youngbloods frontman Jesse Colin Young has three concerts lined up in Northern California in the coming week as part of the veteran folk-rock singer/songwriter’s ongoing tour in support of his 2020 solo album, Highway Troubadour.

The first show will see Young opening for the Steve Miller Band this Friday in Lincoln; the second concert, which takes place Saturday, is a headlining gig in Santa Cruz; and the final performance will be a set at San Francisco’s Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival on Sunday.

Jesse tells ABC Audio that his friendship with Steve Miller dates all the way back to 1967, after they’d both relocated to the Bay Area. Young says Steve likely will hit the stage with him in Lincoln to perform The Youngbloods’ classic 1960s hit “Get Together.”

“He loves that song as much as I do, I think,” Jesse maintains.

Joining Young at all of the gigs will be his daughter Jazzy, a singer/songwriter in her own right who recorded a duet version of Cat Stevens‘ “Trouble” with her dad that was released as a single last year.

While Jazzy will sing with Jesse at the end of his sets opening for the Miller Band and at the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival, Young says his daughter will get to play three of her own tunes during his headlining show.

“[S]he’s so musical and so real in the way she approaches writing about relationships,” Young enthuses.

Meanwhile, Jesse describes his performance at the San Francisco festival, which is a free event at the city’s Golden Gate Park, “a completion of the circle.”

He notes that when The Youngbloods moved to the Bay Area from New York in ’67, one of their early shows was a free performance in the famous park.

Def Leppard‘s Joe Elliott, Rick Savage and Phil Collen played “Photograph” with vocals by Miley Cyrus.
Pink joined Heart‘s Nancy Wilson for “Barracuda.”
Alanis Morissette, with whom Hawkins played drums before joining the Foos, performed “You Oughta Know” with Red Hot Chili PeppersChad Smith on drums.
–Current Yes vocalist Jon Davison, Hawkins’ childhood friend, sang “Owner of a Lonely Heart” with Taylor’s cover band Chevy Metal.
Cars guitarist Elliot Easton played “Shake It Up” with the Foos and Queens of the Stone Age‘s Josh Homme.
Queen‘s Brian May and Roger Taylor were joined by Pink for “Somebody to Love.”
Wolfgang Van Halen ripped Van Halen‘s “Panama” and “Hot for Teacher.”
Rush‘s Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson played “YYZ” with Tool drummer Danny Carey.

As with the London concert, the LA show ended with a triumphant Foo Fighters set featuring various guest drummers, including Smith, Barker, Pearl Jam‘s Matt Cameron, Omar Hakim, Weezer‘s Patrick Wilson and Hawkins’ son, Shane, who once again manned the kit for “My Hero” as well as the song “I’ll Stick Around.”

The night ended around 1 a.m. local time with a full-band performance of “Everlong.”

Proceeds from the concert are being donated to MusiCares and Music Support.

Fleetwood Mac drummer Mick Fleetwood has lent his talents to a new song called “Wouldn’t You Know,” a collaboration with the Road Recovery charity organization that was released Tuesday via digital formats.

The tune was written and recorded by Type II, the house band of Road Recovery’s Trax Program, which “offers young people the opportunity to build healthy networks during challenging times, helping them avoid self-destructive or risky behavior.”

“My message of hope [to Road Recovery youth] is to stay on track, to believe in yourselves, and to also encourage those around you that are working to the same goal,” Fleetwood says, “and the goal is to have something in your heart that really makes you feel good, to make you feel that what you are doing is really worthwhile, which it is, and knowing that you’re all there as a team of people is what you should remember.”

Footage of Fleetwood recording “Wouldn’t You Know” with the Trax Program’s participants is featured in a music video for the track that’s streaming on Road Recovery’s YouTube channel.

Fleetwood first became involved with Road Recovery in 2018 through an introduction by his good friend, producer/musician Don Miggs. Miggs, a longtime Road Recovery supporter, produced “Wouldn’t You Know.”

The track is the latest installment in the Trax Program’s recently launched Golden Promise Project series of original recordings. A song titled “Crimson Chaos” that featured Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash was released last month as part of the series.

Steve Perry released his first Christmas album, The Season, last year and now the former Journey singer is hinting he has more holiday music on the way.

On Monday, Perry posted a grinning, crazed-looking depiction of himself wearing a Santa Claus hat on his social media pages, along with a message that reads, “Here’s another one of my sketches because, ‘Maybe This Year one NEW SP original Holiday song, plus one more, could be coming!'”

Earlier in the month, Perry posted a different drawing of the same character wearing reindeer antlers and standing in front of a microphone, with the caption, “Regarding the Holidays, Maybe This Year? Sincerely Steve Perry.” In a separate post, Steve wrote, “Follow me on Spotify to get special notifications of anything I might be up to — Maybe This Year?”

The Season, which was released November 5, is an eight-song collection featuring Perry’s renditions of such classic yuletide tunes as “Winter Wonderland,” “Santa Claus Is Coming to Town,” “Silver Bells” and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.”

In an interview with ABC Audio shortly before the album’s release, Perry was asked if he’d consider putting out more holiday music in the future, to which he responded, “If I can pull it off, if Uncle Steve’s still here, I might do that, yes.”

Stevie Nicks is featured on a track called “Oil” on the upcoming album by the virtual alternative-rock group Gorillaz, Cracker Island, and the two-time Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee says she only one “demand” for taking part in the song.

Speaking with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, Nicks shares that she requested to be in the video for the track.

“That’s how I know about the Gorillaz, is because of all their crazy cartoon videos,” Nicks says. “I’m going, ‘I want to be in the ‘Oil’ video. I want to be a Gorilla, and I want to have big, false eyelashes, and I want to have blond hair, right?'”

The Fleetwood Mac singer and solo star continues, “I said, ‘This is my one demand that I will make.’ And so, they’re doing it as we speak.”

Nicks adds that she’s “so proud” of the collaboration, which she describes as “somewhere between love and war.”

“I was an honorary Heartbreaker, I was an honorary Foo Fighter,” she says. “And now, I’m an honorary Gorilla. I’m so happy.”

Cracker Island will be released February 24, 2023. It also features collaborations with artists including Beck, Tame Impala, Bad Bunny and Thundercat.

Bruce Springsteen posts enigmatic photos online, fueling speculation about new album

Something new appears to be brewing with Bruce Springsteen.

Over the last day or so, Springsteen has posted two mysterious, uncaptioned photos on his social media sites, prompting speculation that The Boss is about to announce plans for a new album.

The first photo, which was posted on Sunday, is an image of a double-yellow line on a paved road that runs off into the distance. The second pic, which was posted Tuesday, is of the steering wheel of a vintage car.

Springsteen posted some unexplained photos on his social media sites before the release of his 2019 album, Western Stars, so many fans feel these new pics are serving a similar purpose.

Earlier this month, Rolling Stone publisher Jann Wenner revealed in a Billboard interview that a new album by Bruce was “coming out soon,” but no official news about the project has been announced yet.

Meanwhile, as previously reported, Bruce and his E Street Band will kick off a 2023 tour on February 1 in Tampa, Florida.

He and wife E Street Band member Patti Scialfa will also perform this Thursday, September 29, at the inaugural Albie Awards ceremony, which will be held at the New York Public Library.

The event is being presented by the Clooney Foundation for Justice, an organization co-founded by George and Amal Clooney, and salutes global justice defenders.

“The Albie Awards … are a way to shine a protective light on the many courageous individuals who, at great personal risk, have devoted their lives to justice,” the Clooneys say in a statement.

Other celebrities who will participate in the event include Michelle Obama, Meryl Streep, Oscar Isaac, Dua Lipa, Aloe Blacc, John Oliver and Julia Roberts.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland will host a special John Mellencamp Fan Day this Thursday, September 29, that will celebrate the opening of a permanent exhibit dubbed “Legends of Rock: John Mellencamp.”

Mellencamp, who was inducted into the Rock Hall in 2008, will be on hand on Thursday to give a special performance and take part in an interview that will air live on select satellite radio stations at 5 p.m. ET.

The heartland rocker also will reveal plans for a 2023 tour during the event.

Prime access to view the performance and Q&A is sold out, but visitors will be able to listen to the presentation at the Union Home Mortgage Plaza.

Fans who purchase general admission Rock Hall tickets for Thursday will be able to check out the exhibit and enjoy all other John Mellencamp Fan Day activities. Tickets are available at RockHall.com.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of Rob Thomas‘ annual charity concert at the Borgata Hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and he’ll mark the milestone with a special one-night-only event taking place in January.

For the show, the Matchbox Twenty singer has invited some “very special guests” to perform along with him — but he is remaining tight lipped on who they are at the moment. The event is set for Sunday, January 15.

The concert benefits Thomas’ Sidewalk Angels Foundation, which he co-founded in 2003 with wife Marisol Maldonado. He explained on Twitter that his charity supports “over 20 no-kill animal shelters and animal rescues across the country” by providing them critical resources and funds.

The Grammy winner noted that COVID-19 impacted these rescues and shelters, so his charity is helping them “continue their work as well as make sure that families can continue to get the care they need for their pets.”

Tickets for the event go on sale on Tuesday, September 27, for VIP and fan club members on The Borgata‘s website. General public ticket sales start Friday, September 30.
