The 2023 Bourbon & Beyond Festival returns to Louisville, Kentucky, in September, with The Killers and The Black Keys among this year’s headliners.
The festival is set for September 14 to 17 at Highland Festival Grounds at the Kentucky Exposition Center, with a lineup of over 50 artists, including Brittany Howard, The Black Crowes, Bastille, The Gaslight Anthem, Inhaler, The Avett Brothers, Spoon and Blondie.

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band are currently on their North American tour, and E Streeter Steven Van Zandt has no time for folks complaining about the show.
When one person tweeted about being upset the band is now playing 26 songs instead of the 28 they started out with, Little Steven couldn’t keep quiet.
“Only a**holes pretending to be fans evaluate a show by the number of songs that get played or the time spent on stage,” he responded. “Real fans enjoy the intimate exchange of energy they and the band experience that is unique to the night they are there.”

John Mellencamp showed his continuing support for farmers Tuesday, joining them as they marched in Washington, D.C., at the Rally for Resilience: Farmers for Climate Action.
The Farm Aid co-founder took the stage at Freedom Park and performed an acoustic version of “Rain on the Scarecrow,” his 1985 track about a farmer dealing with the foreclosure of his land.
“Here’s all I can say – keep slugging,” Mellencamp told the farmers, according toBillboard. “We’ve been slugging since 1985 and let’s keep slugging,” referring to the year he, Willie Nelson and Neil Young formed Farm Aid. He added, “Let’s try to improve the quality of the food that we eat, the air that we breathe and the people that we are.”
Mellencamp also remarked about the faces he saw in the crowd, noting they were “much younger than they used to be.”
“And I think that’s great that there are younger people trying to improve the planet and the food that we eat. So it’s up to you guys to lead the way,” he said.
The rally comes as Congress begins work on the 2023 Farm Bill. It was part of a three-day gathering, which also included cultural events and a demonstration of climate-friendly farming practices.

Madonna certainly knows how to generate headlines. After teasing a new relationship with Josh Popper earlier this month, the singer went Instagram official with the 29-year-old boxer.
This comes shortly after Madge parted ways with 23-year-old model Andrew Darnell.
The 64-year-old singer shared a snap of the two locking lips to her Instagram Story. She and Popper were dressed in all black, including masks, for what appeared to be a party celebrating the Jewish holiday of Purim. The singer captioned the post, “Killers who are partying,” a reference to a song off her 2019 album Madame X.
Madonna revealed on her Story that she dressed as the historical figure Queen Esther for the celebration. Esther is also Madonna’s self-given Hebrew name.
The party came days after Madonna sat ringside at Popper’s fight at Manhattan’s Classic Car Club, according to Page Six. She reportedly left as soon as his match ended, which he won.

The festival, now in its ninth year, is happening September 23 and 24 in Franklin, Tennessee, with The Lumineers also headlining night one. Other artists on the bill include Better Than Ezra, Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats andThe Head & The Heart,as well as country artists like Zach Bryan, Ashley McBryde and Margo Price.

Legendary music producer Sir George Martin, often referred to as the so-called “fifth Beatle,” passed away at age 90.
With a career that spanned more than six decades, Martin produced all but one of The Beatles’ albums, including 1967’s Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, which became the first rock album to win the Grammy for Album of the Year.
Martin won six Grammys throughout his career and had 23 number-one singles in the U.S. In addition to The Beatles, he produced works by such artists as Elton John, Jeff Beck, Kenny Rogers, Cheap Trick and others.
Among his many honors, Martin was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1999 and received a knighthood in 1996.
You don’t often associate rock ‘n’ roll with daylight, but that’s exactly when actress Jamie Lee Curtis wishes more rockers would hit the stage.
While talking to The Hollywood Reporter on the red carpet, the Oscar-nominated actress revealed her preference for going to bed early, and offered up a “taunt” and a “suggestion” to stars like Bruce Springsteen, U2 and Coldplay to do shows earlier in the day so she could enjoy them before her bedtime.
“U2, do a matinee. Coldplay, do a matinee,” she says. “What about a 12-noon concert, Coldplay? What about it?”
Addressing The Boss, she offers, “Bruce Springsteen, do a f***ing matinee. You’re old. Why wouldn’t you let me come see you, Bruce Springsteen, in your glory days — pun intended — and do it at noon or one o’clock? Two o’clock. Two o’clock matinee — theater in New York, two o’clock.”
She adds, “I will come and hear your five-hour concert, Bruce, at two o’clock, then I’m gonna be home and in bed by 7:30.”
Some classic rock and roll performances from the ’70s and ’80s have just become available on YouTube for the first time in nearly 50 years.
A new YouTube channel has just launched dedicated to the popular ’70s/’80s late night music program The Midnight Special. It features clips of the show’s classic performances from stars like Elton John, David Bowie, Tina Turner, Fleetwood Mac and more.
“The Midnight Special was a groundbreaking and revolutionary show that pushed the boundaries of what was possible on television as not one broadcaster had programming available after 1:00 AM back then,” the show’s producer/creator, Burt Sugarman, tells Deadline. “I insisted on live performances in front of an audience, there was no lip syncing.”
He adds, “I’m thrilled that it will be available for all fans, as well as a new generation of viewers who may not be familiar with the show. Audiences can enjoy hours of classic performances and interviews from the biggest stars of that era.”
Other of the hundreds of artists who appeared on The Midnight Special, which ran from 1972 to 1981, include Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, KISS, Aretha Franklin and more, in addition to comedians like Billy Crystal, Richard Pryor, George Carlin and others.
South By Southwest kicks off Friday and Rock & Roll Hall of Famers The Zombies will be there for several shows, which frontman Colin Blunstone is thrilled about.
“It’s a very exciting place to be, Austin at South by Southwest,” Blunstone tells ABC Audio. “There are bands playing everywhere, in every doorway and every bar.”
And as it turns out, when he says everywhere he means it.
“I remember one of our early ones, I really hope we play back there, it’s someone’s bicycle shop, you know, Fred somebody’s bicycle shop,” he recalls. “And somebody said to me afterwards, ‘What a great name for a club.’ And I said, ‘No, it’s not a club, it’s a bicycle shop. We just play in there amongst the bicycles.’” He adds, “You know you just play in the strangest places and in some ways, it sort of adds to the excitement really.”
The Zombies will also be celebrating their new documentary, Hung Up On A Dream, which will have its world premiere at the festival on March 12, with another screening on March 17.
“It’s a little bit of everything,” Blunstone says of the doc. “They did follow us, there will be some live playing in it and there is some old video, as well. I’m sure it’ll be great. The people who filmed it are wonderful professionals and made us feel very easy.” (
Tears For Fears is celebrating the 40th anniversary of their debut album, The Hurting, with a brand new reissue.
The band will reissue the 1983 album as an Abbey Road half-speed mastered vinyl, as well as a Dolby Atmos mix by mixer Steven Wilson. There will also be a limited edition standalone Blu-ray disc featuring the Dolby Atmos mix, a 5.1 mix, an instrumental mix and the original album master, as well as previously unreleased versions of the songs “Mad World” and “Watch Me Bleed.”
The Hurting, released March 7, 1983, was written solely by Tears For Fears’ Roland Orzabal. Its three singles, “Mad World,” “Change” and “Pale Shelter,” hit the top 5 in the U.K., and the album also reached number one on the U.K. album chart.
“It’s a very consistent album with its own distinct personality,” Orzabal shares. “I’m not sure if we’ve made a more emotional record since, but I’d like to think we’ve hit higher musical peaks.”
The Hurting reissue will be released May 12 and is available for preorder now.
