The Rolling Stones are due to launch their Hackney Diamonds tour in April, and it looks like frontman Mick Jagger has started getting himself ready to take the stage.

Although he doesn’t often play guitar during Stones shows, the rocker shared video on Instagram of him practicing guitar as his less-than-interested-looking dog hangs out in the background. He captioned the clip, “Looking forward to seeing you all when the tour starts next month!”

The Hackney Diamonds tour is The Stones’ first U.S. trek since their 2021 No Filter tour. It’s due to kick off April 28 in Houston, Texas, and has them headlining the New Orleans Jazz Fest on May 2. The tour is set to run through July 17 in Santa Clara, California. A complete list of dates can be found at the rollingstones.com.

David Lee Roth appears to be giving his seal of approval to a recent cover of the Van Halen classic “Jump.”

The rocker just shared a black-and-white video featuring footage of him at various New York locations, set to Alex Melton’s recent acoustic alt-pop indie rock cover of “Jump,” which was Van Halen’s only #1 song.

Melton is known for his YouTube videos in which he takes popular songs and reworks them in different musical genres. He described his take on “Jump” as “If Jump by Van Halen was written for Millennials.”

Back in December Roth shared his own solo take on “Jump,” which he recorded live at Henson Studios in Los Angeles. It was one of several Van Halen songs he rerecorded, including “You Really Got Me,” “Dance The Night Away,” “Panama” and “Ain’t Talkin’ ‘Bout Love.”

Legendary singer Tony Bennett may be gone, but his music and likeness will live on thanks to a new deal his estate has made with the artist and brand development company Iconoclast.

Billboard reports that Iconoclast has purchased Bennett’s music catalog, along with the rights to his name and image likeness, with several projects already in the works, including a Bennett-branded restaurant in New York and a series of luxury watches with Bulova.

Plus, a new Paramount+ documentary is in the works called The Lady and The Legend, which will focus on his work with Lady Gaga.

“In working with Tony for over 40 years, my philosophy was always that I didn’t manage a career but, rather, managed a legacy,” said the singer’s son and manager, Danny Bennett. “Iconoclast … will continue this tradition.”

Iconoclast’s Olivier Chastan adds, “Tony’s legacy is one of character, integrity, kindness and courage. We are truly honored to be the custodians of this incredible and historical legend.”

Bennett passed away July 21 at the age of 98 following a battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Huey Lewis is owning up to a huge mistake he made during his career. During his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Monday, March 18, he revealed that in the height of his career in the ’80s, Bob Dylan sent him a song, and he did nothing with it.

“He sent me a cassette and a lovely note saying he liked the last record and here’s a song of mine,” Huey shared, explaining, “Not only did I not cut it, I don’t actually know where the cassette is.”

He clarified that he didn’t actually lose the tape, noting, “It’s part of my cassette collection, where there’s thousands of cassettes there. So I can probably find it eventually.”

Dylan is considered by many to be one of the best songwriters of all time and even won a Nobel Prize for his lyrics. So, why didn’t Lewis record the song?

“I have no idea. It was a big mistake, what can I say? I’m sorry,” Huey said, adding, “Note to self: when Bob Dylan sends you a song, record it.”

Huey was on Kimmel to promote his new Broadway musical, The Heart of Rock and Roll, which begins previews at the James Earl Jones Theatre on March 29 and opens April 22. Info on tickets can be found at heartofrocknrollbway.com.

Bruce Springsteen is ready to hit the road again.

After being forced to postpone the remainder of his 2023 tour to recover from peptic ulcer disease, Bruce will kick off the latest leg of his tour with The E Street Band in Phoenix on Tuesday, March 19.

The trek includes rescheduled dates from 2023 as well a few additional shows, including his first concert in Las Vegas in over 20 years and a return to Asbury Park, New Jersey, with a headlining set at the Sea. Hear. Now festival put on by Springsteen’s friend and photographer Danny Clinch.

“Greetings freaks, fans and friends from Phoenix, Arizona,” Springsteen shared in a message on Instagram ahead of opening night. “I’m coming to see you Tuesday night and I want you to be ready, be prepared, be afraid, because we are going to rock you into the ground.”

Springsteen postponed the remainder of his 2023 tour back in September in order to focus on his health, telling fans he was “heartbroken” to have to postpone the shows. Before the postponement, he’d been wowing fans with a show that reflected on aging and loss, and a set that featured a mix of classics like “Born To Run,” “Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out” and “Thunder Road” along with newer tunes like “Letter To You” and “I’ll See You In My Dreams.”

Since the postponement, Springsteen has turned up for a handful of performances, including at Stand Up For Heroes in November, Jon Bon Jovi’s MusiCares tribute in February and a John Mellencamp concert in New Jersey in March.

In addition to the U.S., Bruce has dates booked in Europe and Canada. His final U.S. show is happening at Sea.Hear Now on September 15. A complete list of dates can be found at brucespringsteen.com.

John Mellencamp walks off stage after being heckled at Toledo show

John Mellencamp doesn’t care for audiences talking back to him, and folks in Ohio learned that lesson the hard way.

Video circulating on TikTok shows Mellencamp being heckled by an audience member at his Toledo show on Sunday, March 17, and giving him a piece of his mind.

In the clip, Mellencamp is telling the audience a story when someone yells out, “play some music,” to which he responds, “What do you think I’ve been doing, you c*********?” He adds, “Here’s the thing, man. You don’t know me. You don’t f***** know me.” He then addressed someone in his crew named Joe, telling him to ” find this guy and let me see him after the show.”

Mellencamp then tries to continue his story but is interrupted a second time with a request to play “Authority Song,” prompting the rocker to respond, “Guys, I can stop this show right now and just go home.”

The audience then starts to get loud, at which Mellencamp informs them, “Tell you what I’m gonna do. Since you’ve been so wonderful, I’m gonna cut about 10 songs out of the show.” He then begins performing “Jack & Diane” before stopping to inform the audience, “Y’know what? Show’s over.”

According to The Toledo Blade, Mellencamp did walk off the stage, although the concert wasn’t actually over. He eventually returned and treated the crowd to classics like, “Rain On the Scarecrow,”“Lonely Ol’Night ”and “Pink Houses.”

The paper notes, “Overall, John Mellencamp’s return to Toledo was a mostly joyous experience, despite the presence of a few rude Toledoans who need to learn proper etiquette about behaving in public.”

Mellencamp’s tour hits East Lansing, Michigan, on March 19. A complete list of dates can be found at mellencamp.com.
