A new documentary about Neil Young is set to have its world premiere at the upcoming Woodstock Film Festival in Woodstock, New York.

The flick, Coastal, was directed by Young’s wife, actress Daryl Hannah, and is described as a behind-the-scenes look at Young’s 2023 tour, which was his first time back out on the road following the COVID-19 pandemic.

“From his everyday observations on the bus to his candid banter with his audience,” the film’s description offers. “Coastal is a rare peek behind the curtain of this unguarded iconoclast.”

The Woodstock Film Festival runs from Oct. 15 to Oct. 20, with Coastal premiering at the Bearsville Theater on Oct. 20. Tickets are on sale now.

Young was one of the last artists to return to the road following the pandemic. His Coastal tour kicked off in July 2023 and had him playing mostly West Coast dates, treating his fans to set lists filled with rarities and deep cuts.

On This Day, Sept. 19, 1981…

Former musical partners Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel reunited for a concert on the Great Lawn in New York’s Central Park.

The concert took place more than 10 years after the pair’s final studio album, Bridge Over Troubled Water.

The duo performed many of their classics songs, including “The Sound of Silence,” “Mrs. Robinson,” “The Boxer,” “Bride Over Troubled Water,” “Homeward Bound” and “The 59th Street Bridge Song (Feelin’ Groovy),” as well as Simon solo tunes like “Late in the Evening,” “Slip Slidin’ Away,” and “Fifty Ways to Leave Your Lover.”

More than 500,000 people attended the free concert, which benefited the redevelopment and maintenance of the park.

An album of the concert was released in February of 1982, and peaked at #6 on the Billboard album chart. It was later certified double platinum by the RIAA.

Paul McCartney made a surprise appearance in Los Angeles Tuesday night, turning up during a standup set by comedian Deon Cole.

TMZ reports that it happened at the Hollywood Improv, with Cole sharing video from the appearance on social media. He captioned the clip, “My friend Paul came to watch me work on new material last night. We had a blast,” then plugged his new Netflix special, Ok, Mister.

In the video, Cole is heard saying, “I got high with my friend tonight,” and then McCartney walks to the stage. Cole then joked about the “good s***” McCartney had, at which point the rocker says, “Don’t blame me.”

After complaining to the audience that they weren’t giving him any love, Cole thanked McCartney for coming out, with the Beatle noting, “I’ve just been enjoying seeing you working through this material, and you’re right some of it bombed.”

Following the loss of both her mother and her sister in August, Mariah Carey is “doing the best that she possibly can.” That’s according to her ex-husband Nick Cannon, the father of her twins, Monroe and Moroccan.

On Aug. 27, Mariah revealed to People, “My heart is broken that I’ve lost my mother this past weekend. Sadly, in a tragic turn of events, my sister lost her life on the same day.” Her mom, Patricia, was 87; her sister, Alison, was 63. Their respective causes of death haven’t been revealed.

Cannon tells Page Six, “She’s doing the best that she possibly can, considering the circumstances. But as a family, we just got to be there to support one another, show love.”

He added, “She’s really having a great time with the kids. That is, you know, the most important thing in the world to her, so it’s outstanding to see them supporting their mom the way they do.”

According to her Instagram, Mariah took the twins with her when she performed in Beijing, China, on Sept. 15 and Sept. 16; she has a show in São Paulo, Brazil, on Sept. 20.

Meanwhile, Nick tells Page Six the fact that the twins are now teenagers is hard to get used to.

“My daughter, she’s wearing makeup now … it scared me,” he said of Monroe. “Like, we were getting ready to go, we’re in Malibu about to go to dinner, and I was like, ‘What is taking her so long?’” The Masked Singer host said when he went to check, he found tons of hair and makeup products in her bedroom.

“I was like, ‘Wow, you’re just like your mom,’” he recalled. “It’s beautiful to see, but scary all at the same time.”

During Sunday’s Sea.Hear.Now festival in Asbury Park, New Jersey, Bruce Springsteen made a surprise appearance during the set by Trey Anastasio Band, and now Trey is reflecting on the experience.

“When I was 14 years old, my 16-year-old sister Kristy took me to my first-ever concert: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band at Jadwin Gym in Princeton,” Trey wrote on social media. “Bruce blew the roof off the place … My young mind was utterly blown. I’ll never forget it as long as I live.”

Trey noted all the great songs Bruce played that night, like “Rosalita,” “Badlands,” “Spirit in the Night,” “Promised Land,” “Thunder Road” and “Jungleland,” adding, “The one song he didn’t play that night, though—my all-time favorite—was ‘Kitty’s Back’ from The Wild, the Innocent & the E Street Shuffle.”

Well, Bruce made up for that by joining Trey for “Kitty’s Back,” with the Phish frontman noting, “Having the opportunity to play that song with Bruce on the beach in Asbury Park last Sunday was the honor and thrill of a lifetime.”

He added, “Thank you, Bruce, so very much. I can’t even describe how much it meant to me. Thank you!”

The wife of Queen guitarist Brian May is giving fans an update on his health.

In early September, May revealed on social media that he was recovering from a “minor stroke” that initially left him with no control over his left arm. While he called the incident “a little scary,” he assured fans that he was doing OK.

May’s wife, actress Anita Dobson, has provided an update, letting folks know that he is on the mend.

“He’s been told to rest. It’s hard to keep him resting, but he needs to, otherwise he won’t get well,” she told The Sun. “He’s doing great – he’s on the road, he’s doing really, really well. We’re very pleased.”

She adds, “I’m completely confident he’ll make a full recovery,” although she notes, “You have to take things slowly, chill a bit. He’s not that kind of animal!”
