The Police’s Andy Summers and King Crimson’s Robert Fripp joined forces to make music together in the ’80s, and now a new box set is celebrating that collaboration.

The Complete Recordings 1981 – 1984, dropping March 28, is a three-CD/Blu-ray set that includes their two released albums, 1982’s I Advance Masked and 1984’s Bewitched, along with a third album, Mother Hold the Candle Steady, featuring previously unreleased or unheard material.

The Blu-ray will feature high quality mixes of the three albums, along with the original mixes of the two original albums and audio commentary, titled Can We Record Tony?, taken from Fripp’s archival cassettes that feature the duo’s exploratory improvisations. The package comes with a 16-page booklet with photos and interview notes from both guitarists.

Also on March 28, a 2024 stereo mix of I Advance Masked will be released on 200-gram audiophile vinyl. The release includes two unreleased tracks, “Skyline” and “Entropy Pulse.”

Both The Complete Recordings and the I Advance Masked vinyl are available for preorder now.

Fleetwood Mac’s Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham have always had a volatile relationship, but their bandmate Mick Fleetwood would love to see that change.

Nicks and Buckingham dated in the ’70s, but broke up in 1976 while they were in the band. Their relationship has been tense over the years, and they had a final falling out in 2018, the same year Buckingham was fired from the band. But Mick shares in a new interview that he would love to see them be friends again one day.

“I always have a fantasy that [Stevie] and Lindsey would pal up a bit more and just say everything’s OK for them both,” Mick told Us Weekly at the Janie’s Fund Grammys viewing party on Sunday. “But we’ve had such an incredible career.”

As for the future of Fleetwood Mac, Mick seems to agree with previous comments Nicks made that she didn’t see a future for the band after Christine McVie’s 2022 passing. But he’s hoping to keep playing music, even if it’s with someone new.

“I miss playing as much as we used to. I’m hoping next year, one way or another, some band somewhere will say, come and play with drums or something,” he said. “So I always love to do whatever I can do working on an album that next year we may tour with it. I don’t know, [but] not Fleetwood Mac.”

The Beatles picked up another Grammy Award Sunday night, with their final song “Now And Then” winning best rock performance. Neither Paul McCartney nor Ringo Starr were on hand to accept the award in person, but now Ringo has reacted to their latest honor.

“Wow, another Grammy. Well, done everybody,” he shared on Instagram, next to a photo of him giving the peace sign. “I send you peace and love. That’s right the beat goes on. thanks, peace and love Ringo.”

So far McCartney has not commented on the win.

The win was The Beatles’ eighth Grammy Award and their first in 28 years. Their last wins came in 1997 when they won best pop performance by a duo or group with vocals; best music video, short form for “Free As A Bird”; and best music video, long form for The Beatles Anthology.

They were also honored with a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2014.

While The Beatles did win best rock performance, they lost in the major category, record of the year. That honor went to Kendrick Lamar for “Not Like Us.”

Monica Barbaro earned an Oscar nomination for playing Joan Baez in the Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown, and it sounds like Baez herself thinks the actress is deserving of all the praise she’s gotten.

“I loved what she did in the film,” Baez tells the Marin Independent Journal. “If I didn’t think she was good at it, I probably wouldn’t have enjoyed it in general. But she looked enough like me and she had my gestures down. You could tell who it was.”

She adds, “She worked so hard. Kudos to her for taking the role on.”

As for the movie itself, Baez shared, “I thought the music was fantastic. I may be blocking my feelings, but it’s an amusing movie. It was fun.”

Baez did note one issue she had with a make-out scene between her and Dylan, played by Timothée Chalamet.

“It was pleasantly brief,” she said, noting that her college-age granddaughter didn’t really care for it. “She said, ‘I don’t want to see my grandmother making out in a film.’”

Marc Cohn has revealed that he has Parkinson’s disease, but the “Walking In Memphis” singer says he’s not letting it keep him from performing for his fans.

Marc writes on Instagram, “About 5 years ago, I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. I waited this long to tell you about the diagnosis because I needed time to process the unsettling news myself. But the good news is this: I’m doing everything I can to stave off Parkinson’s progression, and with those efforts, I have been able to continue playing shows for you all.”

He continues, “Some nights have been more difficult than others, but there were moments of healing and deep gratitude for my ability to stand at the microphone and continue to do the job I love so much.”

“These past few years have been a time of reflection and a reminder of the preciousness of every moment. Thank you for making my music part of your daily lives,” Marc adds. “I feel like I’ve been a guest at your weddings, your delivery rooms, your first dances, and all the passages we all go through. This is just another passage… another opportunity to learn another dance.”

He notes that he plans on “continuing to do shows for as long as possible,” ending with an invitation to “come meet us on the road somewhere.”

This isn’t the first time the Grammy-winning artist has faced a health challenge. In 2005 he was shot in the head during an attempted carjacking, but amazed doctors by emerging relatively unscathed. The carjacker was sentenced to 36 years in prison in 2006.

Musicians Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and “The Big Bopper” J. P. Richardson died in a plane crash near Clear Lake, Iowa.

The trio was touring together as part of the Winter Dance Party tour. In order to not have to travel on a cold tour bus, Holly chartered a plane to the next venue. Richards got his spot on the plane because he had the flu, and Valens got the last spot on the plane in a coin toss with one of Holly’s band members Tommy Allsup.

The pilot, who also died in the flight, lost control of the plane due to poor wintery conditions.

The trio’s death became known as “The Day the Music Died,” after singer Don McLean referred to it as that in his classic 1971 song “American Pie.”
