Have The Who just given fans hope they’ll be touring more in the future?

The Rock & Roll Hall of Famers just announced the relaunch of their official fan club, The Wholigan. In doing so they may have hinted at their upcoming touring plans, because membership comes with presale tour codes “for any future tour announcements,” suggesting that there may soon be tickets to buy.

Other perks of the fan club include discounts on The Who Official Store merchandise, as well as exclusive Wholigan merch, a Live at the Oval CD or vinyl and a limited-edition Wholigans pin.

There are three levels of Wholigan memberships ranging in price from $65 to $100. They are all for one year, and the more expensive ones come with extra merch.

More info can be found at TheWho.com.

As of now, The Who only have two more shows on their schedule for the year, both in Italy: July 20 in Padua and July 22 in Milan. In addition, frontman Roger Daltrey has three U.K. shows left on his solo tour.

Guitar greats Joe Satriani and Steve Vai announced in December they were coming together to form the SatchVai Band, and now they are sharing the band’s first single.

The pair just released the aptly titled song “I Wanna Play My Guitar,” featuring former Deep Purple singer Glen Hughes.

“This song depicts all that Joe and I used to think about as teenagers. All of the things we loved about pounding rock and roll and the glorious guitar,” Vai tells Guitar Player. “It is an absolute phenom for us to be able to present to you now our teenage aspirations in this song.”

He adds, “It feels like freedom and joy and I recommend everybody find some time in their life to play the guitar. And to be able to hear the mighty voice of one of our childhood heroes on this track, the great Glenn Hughes is more than the icing on the cake, enjoy!”

“I Wanna Play My Guitar” is available now via digital outlets.

SatchVai Band is set to launch The Surfing with Hydra tour of the U.K. and Europe on June 13 in York, England. So far they haven’t announced any U.S. shows. A complete list of dates can be found at SatchVaiBand.com.

Ann Wilson says a music exec once sent Paula Abdul to teach Heart choreography

You don’t usually think dance music when you think of Heart, but apparently one record exec in the ’80s hoped to change that.

Heart’s Ann Wilson chats with pop star Chappell Roan and indie artist Lucy Dacus on the latest episode of her After Dinner Thinks with Ann Wilson podcast, revealing that the exec in question took a surprising step to get her and sister Nancy Wilson moving onstage.

Looking back at her career, Ann says that when it comes to performing she’s “always kinda struggled against the idea that it be a rehearsed act,” noting that in the ’80s “that was at an all-time high.”

She then offered up an example, sharing, “You know, one time we were getting ready to go out on tour and somebody at the record company had this big bright idea to send Paula Abdul in to teach us dance moves.” She said the goal was for them to dance in synchronicity “like Prince and the Revolution.”

“It obviously didn’t work,” Ann quipped. “But that was the pinnacle of what I’ve always felt was wrong.” She noted that adding choreography to a show “would make me disinterested right off the bat. I’m done.”

Heart, without those dance moves, did pretty well and is still touring to this day. They kick off a new tour, An Evening With Heart, on May 31 in Atlantic City, New Jersey. A complete list of dates can be found at Heart-Music.com.

Wolfgang Van Halen‘s new song with his band Mammoth, “The End,” will probably remind you of Eddie Van Halen with its tapping guitar riff. Fittingly, Wolf recorded the part with his late father’s signature Frankenstein guitar.

“Fun fact, I recorded the main tapping of the song, and the slap part with the Frankenstein!” Wolf shares in a social media post. “Makes me feel closer to Pop that such an important part of his history can live with mine every time I record.”

“The End” may also remind you of Van Halen with its video, which includes a shot of Wolf walking down a stage while playing a solo in a possible reference to the “Hot for Teacher” video.

Mammoth, formerly known as Mammoth WVH, has released two albums, and a third is on the way. They’ll be touring the U.S. through the spring and summer while playing dates with Seether and Creed before launching their own headlining tour in the fall.

Jerry Garcia is one step closer to being immortalized with his own street in San Francisco.

SF Gate reports that the San Francisco Board of Supervisors has approved a resolution to rename Harrington Street, a one-block street in the Excelsior District of San Fran, Jerry Garcia Street.

Many fans of the Grateful Dead are well aware of the significance of Harrington Street, which is only about a tenth of a mile long. The block, between Alemany Boulevard and Mission Street, is where Garcia’s grandparents had a home, and fans are known to visit the yellow house where the rocker spent a good amount of time during his childhood.

Supervisor Chyanne Chen, who represents San Francisco’s 11th District where the house is located, introduced the resolution.

“Over the course of his lifetime, Jerry would become one of the most influential and revered musicians of all time, whose memory continues to unite people in their love of music,” read the resolution. It noted that in addition to being a co-founder of “the world’s most renowned band,” Garcia “believed in making music more accessible and giving back to his community, and his memory still brings the neighborhood pride and a sense of camaraderie.”

Garcia, Bobby Weir, Ron “Pigpen” McKernan and Bill Kreutzmann co-founded the Grateful Dead in the San Francisco Bay Area in 1965, with drummer Mickey Hart and lyricist Robert Hunter joining the group in 1967. Garcia passed away Aug. 9, 1995.

Queen is once again revisiting their 1973 self-titled debut album.

Last year the band reissued a remastered version of the album, retitled Queen I, as part of an expanded collector’s edition box set, and now they’re releasing the album in Dolby Atmos for the very first time.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Famers just announced that Queen I will be released as a limited edition Dolby Atmos Audiophile Blu-ray on June 13.

“I’m particularly excited about this new Dolby Atmos version of what we now call Queen I,” Queen’s Brian May, who executive produced the project with bandmate Roger Taylor, shares. “There are now a few nice adventurous Easter eggs in there, which those who know the album intimately will hopefully enjoy. Nobody has ever heard our first album quite like this!”

Taylor adds, “At last we get our first album to sound as we imagined it should sound … phew!”

The Queen I Dolby Atmos Audiophile Blu-ray is available for preorder now.

Released in October, the Queen I expanded collector’s edition box set featured six CDs and one LP, with 63 tracks with 43 brand new mixes. It included the original album with a new track listing, along with its originally intended running order, and the addition of “Mad the Swine,” a song that was absent from the 1973 release. There were also alternative takes, demos and rare live tracks.

Jimmy Page sued over Led Zeppelin’s ‘Dazed and Confused’

Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page is being sued by a songwriter who claims he is owed credit for writing the band’s hit song “Dazed and Confused.”

Songwriter Jake Holmes argues in legal documents that he is “sole owner of the copyright” of the song,  which appeared on the band’s 1969 self-titled debut album.

According to the documents, Holmes wrote the song in 1967 and Page first recorded a reworked version in 1968 when he was a member of the Yardbirds. After their breakup, Page recorded the song with Led Zeppelin and gave himself sole credit as writer.

Holmes went on to sue Page over the song and the case was settled in 2011, with the recent legal documents noting that Page acknowledged that Holmes “created and had and has complete ownership” of the composition.

The new case argues that live recording of both the Yardbirds and Led Zeppelin versions of the song were featured in the recent documentary Becoming Led Zeppelin and credited as “written by Jimmy Page, inspired by Jake Holmes.” He argues that is false and that he hasn’t been compensated for their use. He also argues that since the 2011 settlement Page has released other live versions of the track without Holmes being credited or compensated.

Holmes is suing for copyright infringement and breach of contract, and has named Sony Pictures as one of the defendants in the case. He is seeking damages of at least $150,000 for each instance of infringement.
