The new thriller Fresh is streaming now on Hulu and if you’re wondering what it’s all about — well, it’s about a lot of things, according to star Daisy Edgar-Jones

The movie, which also stars Sebastian Stan, is a little tricky to describe without spoiling one of its big secrets, but the actress tells ABC Audio she’s well practiced at giving a spoiler-free description of the horror comedy.

“I’ve been saying a bold and audacious thriller about the perils of modern dating. That tends to be the way I describe it,” Edgar-Jones says.

“Arguably you could say it’s an allegory for the consumption of women in society,” she adds. “It’s also sort of a celebration of the power of female friendships. It’s kind of observing this consumerist way that we date now with like apps and things like that.”

In Fresh, Edgar-Jones and Stan star as two people seemingly looking for love, with dark results. Edgar-Jones shares that it plays around with an unrealistic version of love we’ve been fed our whole lives.

“I think the kind of diet of rom-coms that we all grow up in does definitely give us the sort of slightly skewed idea of how love works,” she begins.

“You know, at the core kind of the idea that love is one of the most important parts of being a human, and relationships and connection, that I definitely agree with. And, you know, I’m a big lover of those films. But really, you know, so often when you watch them back, you’re like, gosh, that’s really interesting that the premise of this is basically the man is just incredibly persistent until the woman finally goes OK,” she explains with a laugh.

Amanda Bynes has launched an Instagram account, and so far has only one post, but it gets right to the point: She wants out of her conservatorship.

In a brief, selfie-shot message that was posted Monday, the former The Amanda Show star says, “What’s up, Instagram? Amanda Bynes here. My court date is coming up in two weeks. I want to thank you all so much for your love and support. Peace out.”

The court date to which she was referring is what’s known as a “capacity declaration” under California law. As previously reported, Bynes wants her health records updated regarding her mental health, a necessary first step to terminate her mother’s control over her financial and other affairs.

Bynes’ mother, Lynn, was put in charge temporarily following a 2013 incident in which Bynes reportedly started a small fire in a neighbor’s driveway After the driveway incident, Bynes was placed on a temporary psychiatric hold. The conservatorship was reinstated in 2014, the same year Bynes, now 35, revealed she’d been diagnosed with bipolar disorder.

Recently, Amanda’s attorney, David A. Esquibias, told People, “She believes her condition is improved and protection of the court is no longer necessary.”

Bynes wears thick-framed glasses during the brief message, which also shows off a ring in her nose and a small black heart she’s apparently had tattooed on her left cheek. Her hair is also dark, turning to silver-grey halfway down its length.

Amanda’s one and only post, tagging several entertainment outlets, has apparently blocked any comments but as of Wednesday morning had over 6,200 views.  Her profile page also says “check back for updates on new fragrance!” alluding to a perfume her attorney explained the fashion-minded actress been working on recently.

‘The Bachelor’ recap: One woman’s elimination has Clayton threatening to head home

ABC/Craig Sjodin

It’s fantasy suites week, and on Tuesday’s episode of The Bachelor, one lady’s questions had Clayton questioning the future of his journey.

Clayton and the three remaining ladies — SusieGabby and Rachel — traveled to beautiful Reykjavik, Iceland where they each enjoyed passionate dates set against the backdrop of the capitol city’s awe-inspiring landscapes. But it was here, amid the romance and breathtaking vistas, Clayton’s journey to find love was about to take a dramatic turn.

With a possible engagement just a week away, the 28-year-old Eureka, Missouri native admitted that he was possibly “falling in love” with all three women and might already be “in love” with Susie. He hoped that the overnight dates would help him find clarity.

For his part, he acknowledged, “It’s time to let my walls down” and “quit being guarded.”

Unfortunately, he realized he may have opened himself up a little too much when, after revealing to Susie that he’d already been intimate with both Rachel and Gabby and told each lady that he was in love with them, she said she couldn’t share his love with anyone else, and therefore, couldn’t move towards an engagement.

Clayton believed Susie’s bombshell announcement so late in the game left him with no other choice, but to send her home, and wondering if he should pack it in as well.

“My heart’s not in it…It’s over,” he declared.

The Bachelor returns with its two-night season 26 finale Monday and Tuesday at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.

‘The Batman’ star Zoë Kravitz now says Catwoman casting flap is “untrue”

‘The Batman’ star Zoë Kravitz now says Catwoman casting flap is “untrue”

The Batman star Zoë Kravitz has taken to Instagram to throw cold water on a story that made headlines, in which she seemed to say that she was turned down for the role of Catwoman in 2012’s The Dark Knight Returns because she was considered too “urban.”

That’s how the story appeared in The Guardian, with the actress quoted as saying, “I don’t know if it came directly from [director] Chris Nolan. I think it was probably a casting director of some kind, or a casting director’s assistant.”

On her Instagram Story, however, the 33-year-old actress now claims it never happened.

“I was NOT told I was too urban to play Catwoman,” Kravitz said plainly, adding, “It would have made NO sense for me to even be considered for that role at that time.”

The part was landed by Anne Hathaway.

“I wanted to AUDITION for a small part in the film,” Zoë corrected, “and was told (I do not know who said this…) that they were not going ‘urban’ on the part. This is something I heard a lot 10 years ago — it was a very different time.”

She added, “I did not mention this to point any fingers or make anyone seem racist, namely Chris Nolan, the film’s producers or anyone on the casting team, because I truly do not believe anyone meant any harm.”

Kravitz concluded, “I was simply giving an example of what it was like to be a woman of color in this industry at that time. Again this was many years ago when words like that were thrown around very casually and although I’m very glad that we are attempting to evolve — let’s all calm down — as well as fact check before we write things that are untrue.”

‘P-Valley’ season two coming this June

Welcome [back] to the Pynk! The long-awaited return of the hit Starz show P-Valley, is finally here.

Brandee Evans, Nicco Annan and J. Alphonse Nicholson, who play Mercedes, Uncle Clifford and Lil Murda, respectively, joined other cast members in announcing the series return in a video posted on the show’s official Instagram page.

P-Valley’s first season, which gained positive critical acclaim from many outlets, including Rotten Tomato’s 100% “fresh” rating, aired on Starz in July 2020. While there is no specific date for season two June’s release, the show’s “Pynk Posse” is beyond ready for its return.

P-Valley is a television adaptation of creator Katori Hall’s stage play of the same name. Centered around “The Pynk,” a popular Mississippi strip club, the show highlights and embraces dance culture and is based on Hall’s personal experiences, according to The Playlist.

“I actually grew up going to strip clubs, so it was just a part of Southern culture, Southern Black culture,” says Hall. “It was something that we didn’t necessarily look at in a shameful way. And I think it had a lot to do with the fact that the dancers were seen through a lens of athleticism. It wasn’t that they were just taking off their clothes, they were actually performing the Cirque du Soleil-esque skills….”

Hall told Deadline she predicted P-Valley’s success, and while it surprised executives at the network, she knew there was an audience for it.

“I would kid to the executives, ‘Yeah, the number’s going to be, like, 10 million, 20 million.’ And they were like, ‘Girl, those are Super Bowl numbers, be quiet.’ But then, boom, I was, like, ‘Nine million, good, for the first season’” the Pulitzer Prize winner said.

You can catch up on season one of P-Valley on Starz.

(NOTE LANGUAGE) Taron Egerton, star of Rocketman and the Kingsman movies, took a bow on a West End stage Monday night, days after collapsing during a performance of the Mike Bartlett‘s play C**k.

The actor was nearing the end of the preview performance Saturday night, according to patrons, when he apparently fainted. A doctor in the audience tended to Egerton, and an understudy took over for the duration of the performance after a 40-minute delay.

The next day, Egerton told fans on social media, “…I am completely fine. Slightly sore neck and a bruised ego but I’m fine.” According to People, he also added, he “would appreciate it if anyone who was in the theatre last night just said that I gave such a committed, electrifying performance that my body couldn’t handle it and I checked out.”

After Monday night’s performance, Taron cheekily said in another Instagram story, “Did the second preview, didn’t pass out, so…” flashing a thumbs-up.

The play has Edgerton playing the boyfriend of Bridgerton‘s Jonathan Bailey, who finds his relationship complicated when he falls for a woman.
