Hulu has released the first trailer to Prey, its new film set centuries before the other offerings in the Predator universe.

The show centers on a young Comanche woman, played by Indigenous actress Amber Midthunder, whose tribe finds itself in the sights of the fearsome alien hunter first seen in the 1987 Arnold Schwarzenegger sci-fi action classic.

“They hunt to live. It lives to hunt,” a title card teases.

The weapons of 300 years ago are no match for the alien’s skill and advanced tech, leaving Midthunder’s Naru alone with only her skill and her cunning against the extraterrestrial predator.

“It knows how to hunt. I know how to survive,” she says.

“I can kill it.”

Prey streams August 5 on Hulu.

On Tuesday, Amazon Prime dropped a teaser to A League of Their Own, the series reboot of the late Penny Marshall’s 1992 hit starring Tom Hanks and Geena Davis.

Set in a musically anachronistic choice, to Steve Nicks‘ “Edge of Seventeen,” the show is set in 1943 and again centers on the real-life All-American Girls Professional Baseball League, which took up America’s Pastime while World War II kept millions of men overseas.

Broad City creator and star Abbi Jacobson is among the cast, along with D’Arcy Carden, Kate Berlant and Chanté Adams subbing for the team from the original film, which included Oscar winner Davis, Rosie O’Donnell, Lori Petty and Madonna.

The snippet doesn’t show any dialog, but gives glimpses into the characters and their relationships. According to its producers, “A League of Their Own evokes the joyful spirit of Penny Marshall’s beloved classic, while widening the lens to tell the story of an entire generation of women who dreamed of playing professional baseball.”

Amazon Studios adds, “The show takes a deeper look at race and sexuality, following the journey of a whole new ensemble of characters as they carve their own paths towards the field, both in the league and outside of it.”

The series debuts August 12 on Amazon Prime.

Robert De Niro on celebrating ‘The Godfather’ turning 50, what keeps him going at nearly 79
Tribeca Film Festival

Robert De Niro turns 79 in August, but he’s showing no signs of slowing down. He’s about to launch his 21st Tribeca Film Festival on Wednesday — the first non-COVID-restricted event in two years.

On top of that, his Killers of the Flower Moon, a reunion with his Goodfellas director Martin Scorsese and his This Boy’s Life co-star Leonardo DiCaprio, debuts in November, and the screen legend joins fellow Oscar winner Jamie Foxx, and Emmy and Tony winner John Leguizamo next week to start the action movie Tin Soldiers

So what keeps him going? “What else am I gonna do, go play golf?” he said with a laugh to ABC Audio.

“I can do that. But some people — you know, like the old [saying], ‘Some of my best friends … ?’ Some of my best friends play golf. But — and it’s interesting — but I’m, that’s not my [thing],” he admits.

He says of his still-growing filmography, “It’s a form of keeping busy, of course, I like to do what I’m doing, you know.”

As he nears a milestone birthday himself, we wondered about the recent 50th birthday of The Godfather. Of course De Niro scored an Academy Award for playing a young version of Marlon Brando‘s Vito Corleone in 1974’s The Godfather Part II.

“It’s great,” the icon says of the attention the original film got around its anniversary in March, beginning with a salute at this year’s Academy Awards.

“I mean, 50 years, 49 for me or 48 really because I’m in II, but still it’s long enough,” he smiled.

“No, I think it’s great. I think … it was a nice, it’s a nice celebration, if you will.”

With his Jurassic World: Dominion alter-ego Owen Grady tackling dinosaur detail in theaters this weekend, Chris Pratt is back at home on diaper duty.

The star and his wife Katherine Schwarzenegger welcomed their second daughter, Eloise in May.

To E! News, Pratt joked that while the baby’s diapers “smell worse” than the “dino droppings” his raptor-wrangling character has to deal with, the output is comparatively “much smaller,” and thus “much more manageable.”

Pratt, who married Schwarzenegger in 2019, added of his new wife, “Katherine just has the most amazing maternal instincts. She just really knows what to do. I’ll follow her lead.”

The pair’s first daughter, Lyla Maria, was born in 2020.

Pratt also shares 9-year-old son Jack with ex-wife Anna Faris.

Dave Chappelle reportedly booked an unexpected weekend show in Buffalo and then surprised the audience by announcing he would be donating all the proceeds from the event to the families of victims of the recent mass shooting there.

“He said, and I’m paraphrasing, I came here to Buffalo to recognize the victims and for these families,” director of marketing and communications for Shea’s Performing Arts Center, Kevin Sweeney, recalled the comedian saying during Sunday’s last-minute show, according to Deadline.

Ten people were killed and three others were injured in a mass shooting at a supermarket in New York’s second-largest city on May 14. A white 18-year-old man targeted the predominately-Black neighborhood in what police called “racially motivated violent extremism.” The alleged shooter has been charged with 25 related crimes, including murder and attempted murder.

Chris Lane and Lauren Bushnell are about to become a family of four!

On Monday, the Bachelor alumna, 32, and her country star husband, 37, revealed they are expecting their second child together. Sharing an adorable snapshot of the growing family to social media, Lauren, who already shares 11-month-old son Dutton Walker with Chris, announced, “Party of 4, coming October 2022. I cannot wait to see you as a big brother, Dutty!”

In an interview with People, the couple dished on how they found out their family would be expanding, with Lauren admitting, “To be quite honest, I’ve never been more shocked in my entire life, because this was very much an unexpected surprise.”

Lauren shared that she took a pregnancy test and was so surprised that she interrupted Chris as he was putting their son down for a nap.

“We had planned on having at least two kids, so we’re very thankful that it was able to happen for us, even if it wasn’t necessarily on our exact timing,” she added. “We’re both just incredibly excited.”

The pair, who wed in October 2019, also shared their thoughts on whether baby number two will be a boy or girl. While the “Big, Big Plans” singer said “all the guys in our family, we make a lot of boys,” Lauren thinks “because of that, the Lane family could use some female energy in there.”

Jared Leto had some fun with ‘Morbius’ memes ahead of ill-fated theatrical rerelease

Apparently never hearing of the tragedy of Snakes on a Plane, Sony Pictures saw endless memes of its superhero movie Morbius as a good thing and rereleased it in theaters this weekend.

Even star Jared Leto got in on the fun, with a viral social media post of himself getting caught reading the script for Morbius 2: It’s Morbin’ Time.

However, “any publicity is good publicity” didn’t quite translate to a theatrical goose to the poorly performing movie’s bottom line.

The critic- and fan-panned film jumped back into 1,000 theaters on Friday and swiftly proved fans had been laughing at and not with the filmmakers: The movie made just $85,000 on its first day of rerelease.

The situation was avoidable, had the studio remembered the lessons of 2006’s Snakes on a Plane, starring Samuel L. Jackson — a movie whose trailer was so thoroughly memed, before memes were a thing — that it led to reshoots.

There, too, however, fan-suggested improvements like Jackson’s character insisting he’d “had it with these emmer-effing snakes on this emmer-effing plane” didn’t help the movie’s box office fate. Then again, the budget was small, so it ended up turning a profit on paper.

Unlike its immortal vampiric hero, Morbius now appears dead for good — but the jokes live on.

“Sony has announced MORBIUS will be released once a month until their demands are met,” snarked one Twitter user.

“It’s a hard pill to swallow but…the risk will never be zero. we will always be on the verge of another morbius release,” jabbed another.

Netflix/ Lara Solanki

More than 25 years after she joined the Scream franchise, and the very year she reunited with her cast members for a hit reboot, Neve Campbell is apparently done.

“Sadly I won’t be making the next Scream film,” she said in a statement obtained by ABC Audio.

“As a woman I have had to work extremely hard in my career to establish my value, especially when it comes to Scream. I felt the offer that was presented to me did not equate to the value I have brought to the franchise.”

The Lincoln Lawyer star added, “It’s been a very difficult decision to move on. To all my Scream fans, I love you. You’ve always been so incredibly supportive to me. I’m forever grateful to you and to what this franchise has given me over the past 25 years.”

The sixth film in the franchise is getting underway this summer with Melissa Barrera, Jasmin Savoy Brown and Jenna Ortega returning, along with Scream series O.G. Courteney Cox back as Gale Weathers.

The film is slated for a March 31, 2023, release.

Vampires are immortal, and so far, so is the mockumentary series about them, What We Do In The Shadows. FX has renewed the show for season 5 and 6, before its fourth season premieres in July.

In a statement, Nick Grad, FX’s president of original programming, said, “There’s a lot of life left in our favorite vampires from Staten Island and FX couldn’t be more thrilled to commit to two additional seasons of this phenomenal series.”

He added, the show “excels on every level, from the brilliant cast and surprising guest stars to the producers, writers, directors and crew. We can’t wait for everyone to enjoy season four, knowing that the next two are on the way.”

Based on the cult hit feature film by Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi, the series stars Kayvan Novak, Matt Berry, Natasia Demetriou, Mark Proksch and Harvey Guillén. In two seasons the show has received 10 Emmy nominations, including one for Outstanding Comedy Series.

Its guest stars have included Marvel movie star Benedict Wong, Hayley Joel Osment, Star WarsMark Hamill and Nick Kroll.

Prosksch told ABC Audio the guest stars are the cherry on top of the show’s success. “You kind of catch yourself in that moment where you say to yourself, ‘If 10 years ago I had all of a sudden landed right here in this moment, I wouldn’t believe it.’ I’m standing in front of Mark Hamill, my childhood hero … and I’m getting to act with him. That’s something that you really pinch yourself about.”

He also says he’s been tickled seeing fans cosplaying as the show’s cast. “[S]eeing stuff like that and people really responding to your character is special. I mean, that doesn’t happen too often anymore.” (AUDIO IS ABC 1-ON-1)

The show’s fourth season premiere debuts July 12 at 10 p.m. Eastern time on FX.
