Amazon launched its latest series The Peripheral over the weekend, and for stars Chloë Grace Moretz and Jack Reynor, it was a bit of art imitating life.

Based on sci-fi author William Gibson‘s book of the same name, the series has Chloë playing Flynn, a young woman who along with her brother Burton, played by Reynor, scrape a living in a near-future small-town America thanks to her skill as a VR gamer.

However, in testing out some bleeding-edge tech, Flynn exposes a real world and a deadly conspiracy from the future.

With that in mind, ABC Audio wanted to know how far Chloë’s real-life gaming experience goes. Simply put, if you’ve played the first-person shooter Modern Warfare 2, there’s a pretty good chance the actress has taken you out.

Chloë admitted with a laugh, “It’s funny, actually…I stopped tweeting for a long time, and then recently I started getting back into tweeting, and it’s because I was playing the Modern Warfare 2 beta, — we were actually playing together,” to which Reynor corrects, “We were killing it together!”

Chloë continues, “And I was really tweeting about it! And everyone was like, ‘Chloë’s gotten hacked again. Like what happened to her?’ I was like, ‘No, I just really I like the game but I don’t usually tell people about it.'”

She adds, “But Jack and I actually we play a lot together and it’s always been a big part of my life, gaming. So yeah, I’d like to say I think I’m good at it!” Reynor continues, “She is. I’ll second that.”

“Conversations with a Killer: The Jeffrey Dahmer Tapes” – Netflix

If you’re looking to portray one of America’s most infamous serial killers this Halloween, don’t bother looking on eBay.

The online auction giant has been removing costumes that were being sold on the site in the wake of the runaway popularity of Netflix’s Dahmer: Monster and the streaming service’s popular Conversations with a Killer, which features the convicted murderer.

A rep for eBay confirmed it wasn’t a recent decision regarding Dahmer specifically but said the company was merely enforcing its “Violence and Violent Criminals” policy, which states, “Listings that promote or glorify violence or violent acts, or are associated with individuals who are notorious for committing violent acts, are not allowed.”

Starring Evan Peters as the titular killer and Niecy Nash, Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story became one of the most-watched series in Netflix’s history.

“I am back as Superman”: Henry Cavill thanks fans as he makes his return official

In what won’t be news if you stayed for the end-credits to Black Adam — or if you came across spoilers about it — Henry Cavill will be returning to the DC universe as the Man of Steel.

In an Instagram video post that began with an image of himself once again dressed as the Last Son of Krypton, Cavill admitted he “waited until the weekend was over” to give people a chance to see the movie starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and reveal his big news.

“I wanted to make it official — I am back as Superman,” the lantern-jawed English actor said. He teased, “The image you see on this post, and what you’ve seen in Black Adam are just a very small taste of things to come.”

Cavill added, “there’s a lot to be thankful for, but most of all, thank you for your support and for your patience. I promise it will be rewarded.”

The actor was referring to the fact there hasn’t been a proper sequel to 2013’s Man of Steel. Prior to the post-credits stinger for Black Adam, however, Cavill appeared as Superman in 2016’s Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, 2017’s Justice League and the re-cut Zack Snyder’s Justice League, which debuted on HBO Max in 2021.

Cavill captioned his post, “A very small taste of what’s to come, my friends. The dawn of hope renewed…”

The rumors of a Man of Steel sequel began coming to a boil as Johnson promoted Black Adam. The superstar pushed hard for a storyline that would put the two god-like characters on a collision course — which is just what the post-credits scene teases.

Marvel Studios

Marvel Studios has dropped the official trailer for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

The film, the third focused on Paul Rudd‘s Ant-Man/Scott Lang and the second featuring Evangeline Lilly‘s Hope van Dyne/the Wasp in the title, will kick off Phase Five of the Marvel Cinematic Universe when it opens in U.S. theaters on Feb. 17, 2023.

Set to Elton John‘s “Goodbye, Yellow Brick Road,” the trailer also features Michael Douglas and Michelle Pfeiffer also returning as Hope’s parents, Hank Pym and Janet van Dyne — the original Ant-Man and the Wasp, respectively.

Kathryn Newton has been re-cast as Cassie Long, Scott’s daughter, who in the trailer invents a gadget that sucks the gang into the Quantum Realm and puts them face to face with Jonathan Majors‘ Kang the Conqueror, first seen in season one of Loki on Disney+.

According to the film’s official synopsis, the heroes’ adventure “will push them beyond the limits of what they thought was possible.”

In July, director Peyton Reed and the cast joined Kevin Feige onstage at San Diego Comic-Con for a Q&A and first look at the film. Rudd told the crowd that “Scott is pretty pleased with himself in his role with saving the universe” after the events of 2019’s Avengers: Endgame. Even as the trailer hints, some people confuse him for Spider-Man.

Newton added that the new film will explore the dynamic between Scott and Cassie, as her father missed years of her life while trapped in the Quantum Realm. “Cassie is becoming who she’s supposed to be,” she teased. “And I don’t want to say anything else!”

Marvel Studios is owned by Disney, the parent company of ABC News.

While the Star Wars universe has been expanding apace on Disney+, its big screen fortunes have been less clear: Patty JenkinsRogue Squadron has been waved off, and amid reports both Mandalorian veteran and Thor movie director Taika Waititi and Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige were headed to that galaxy far, far away, nothing concrete has emerged.

However, The Hollywood Reporter says that Damon Lindelof, veteran of Lost and HBO’s Watchmen series, is writing what could be the first Star Wars film since 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker, with Ms. Marvel director Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy behind the camera.

Officially, ABC News’ parent company, Disney, has two untitled Star Wars films left on its release slate following Rogue Squadron‘s deletion from the schedule. Those are set for December 2025 and December 2027, but there’s no word as to what they are.

What do you do when your private plane can’t whisk you and your entourage to Vegas for your glamorous birthday bash? Kim Kardashian and her crew experienced that first-world problem Saturday night, and she solved the snafu by hitting up an In-N-Out.

As Kim detailed on an Instagram Story, she, as well as her sister Khloé, her mom Kris and their friends, were dressed to the nines and ready to party for the reality show queen and entrepreneur’s 42nd birthday at the Vegas eatery Carbone, before taking in Usher: My Way at the Dolby Live venue.

Next to a photo of herself emerging from a “party bus to nowhere” wearing shimmery satin pants and a matching bikini top, Kim wrote, “tried to land twice at two difference [sic] airports and it was too dangerous so safety first always and we flew home…”

Dangerous wind conditions crimped the star’s party plans, so back in Los Angeles, they instead decamped, undaunted, to the famous burger joint. Wearing a feathered boa to cover her famous curves, Kim and company chowed down on In-N-Out burgers and cheese fries, instead of Carbone’s high-end Italian fare.

Incidentally, Kim’s Kardashians crew made it to the show ahead of her and got to enjoy Usher — who saw Kim’s IG posts and sent her a special Instagram birthday message inviting her to reschedule to come see his show any time.

A fourth installment in the Conjuring franchise is in the works with Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom writer David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick penning the script, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Plot details are being kept under wraps. Returning to produce are James Wan and Peter Safran, the filmmaking team behind every film in the Conjuring Universe. The films are based on the real-life case files of paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren. Their investigations over the years into cases including the Amityville murders, and the books they wrote about them, also inspired film franchises including The Amityviille Horror, The Nun and Annabelle. Neither Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga, who have portrayed the Warrens in the three previous movies, as well as in spinoff Annabelle Comes Home, have signed on to the new film as yet…

True to his word, Jimmy Kimmel has lined up comedian Ariel Elias to appear on his ABC late-night talk show, Jimmy Kimmel Live! Elias famously had a full beer thrown at her onstage by the husband of a belligerent heckler, which turned it into a viral moment when the comic picked up the beer and chugged it. When Kimmel praised her “gutsy performance” on Twitter, Elias made another gutsy move by asking Kimmel if she could make her “late night debut” on his show. Jimmy replied, “definitely,” and is making good on that promise…

ABC has given The Rookie: Feds a full 22-episode season order at ABC, according to Variety. Feds, a spinoff of The Rookie, stars Niecy Nash-Betts, reprising her Rookie role of Simone Clark, a plain-talking newbie FBI agent. The Rookie: Feds, also starring Frankie R. Last week’s box office champ, Halloween Ends, fell to fourth place in its second week of release with an estimated $8 million weekend. ‘House of the Dragon’ season finale leaks online days before premiere

It appears some fans of House of the Dragon could not wait to find out what will happen to the Targaryens.

The season finale, titled “The Black Queen,” leaked online early Friday morning, Deadline has confirmed. It was meant to air on HBO and stream on HBO Max Sunday night.

“We are aware that the 10th episode of House of the Dragon has been posted on illegal torrent sites,” an official HBO spokesperson said. “We’re disappointed that this unlawful action has disrupted the viewing experience for loyal fans of the show, who will get to see a pristine version of the episode when it premieres Sunday.”

House of the Dragon stars Emma D’Arcy and Olivia Cooke as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen and Alicent Hightower.

The actors found themselves the subjects of a viral meme moment recently when an interview segment about the cocktail they prefer — a Negroni Sbagliato with Prosecco in it — was spread widely throughout TikTok.

Now Google is in on the joke. Searching the words “Emma D’Arcy,” “Olivia Cooke” or “Negroni Sbagliato” on the site will cause an animated pop-up of D’Arcy and Cooke’s arms cheers-ing while dressed in their signature House of the Dragon costumes. How stunnin’, as Cooke would say.

Alec Baldwin posts photo of Halyna Hutchins on one-year anniversary of her death on the ‘Rust’ set

Alec Baldwin is honoring the memory of Halyna Hutchins

To mark the one-year anniversary of Hutchins’ death, the actor shared a photo of her operating a camera with the caption, “one year ago today….” Hutchins was a cinematographer for the film Rust that Baldwin is starring in and producing.

Hutchins, 42, was accidentally killed on the set near Santa Fe, New Mexico, on October 21, 2021, when the prop gun that Baldwin was holding discharged a live round of ammunition. Director Joel Souza was also injured.

Baldwin and assistant director Dave Halls insist Baldwin did not pull the trigger and did not know the gun was loaded.

Filming has been on hiatus since the tragedy, but is scheduled to resume in January 2023 following a settlement with Halyna’s husband, Matthew Hutchins. The Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office is still conducting a criminal investigation. No charges have been filed against Baldwin.
