Loki star Tom Hiddleston and his fiancée, Zawe Ashton, secretly gave birth to their first child, a source tells Us Weekly.
“Tom and Zawe are loving being new parents and are filled with joy,” says the insider. “They have been having the struggles of new parents and aren’t sleeping much but are thrilled.”
The baby’s name, gender and date of birth have not been revealed.
The 38-year-old actress announced she was pregnant back in June at the Mr. Malcolm’s List premiere in New York City. Hiddleston co-stars alongside Ashton in the film.
Hiddleston and Ashton first met when they starred in the play Betrayal back in 2019, which opened on London’s West End before heading to Broadway. They made their relationship “red carpet official” at the 2021 Tony Awards and got engaged in March of this year.
In an interview with The New York Times, Avatar series director James Cameron took another shot at the current box office superstars: superhero movies.
Cameron groused, “When I look at these big, spectacular films — looking at you, Marvel and DC — it doesn’t matter how old the characters are, they all act like they’re in college.”
He continued, “They have relationships, but they really don’t. They never hang up their spurs because of their kids. The things that really ground us and give us power, love, and a purpose? Those characters don’t experience it, and I think that’s not the way to make movies.”
Cameron might be forgetting that Avengers: Endgame saw Robert Downey Jr.‘s Tony Stark grappling with his love of his daughter versus his ability to save the world — so much so that he initially turned Captain America down for a risky rematch with Thanos.
Regardless, this isn’t the first time Cameron took a shot at superhero movies. While admitting he does like them — and before he compared the upcoming Avatar films to The Godfather — Cameron griped to IndieWire in 2018, “I’m hoping we’ll start getting Avenger fatigue here pretty soon.”
He added, “Not that I don’t love the movies. It’s just, come on guys, there are other stories to tell besides hyper-gonadal males without families doing death-defying things for two hours and wrecking cities in the process. It’s like, oy!”
Avatar’s sequel, Avatar: The Way of Water, will splash into theaters December 16 from 20th Century Studios. The studio is owned by Disney, the parent company of ABC News — and, incidentally, of Marvel Studios.
When it was announced that Melissa Villaseñor would be leaving Saturday Night Live before the show’s current 48th season, it came as a surprise to fans. The actress’s gift for impressions of stars like Dolly Parton and others were popular, so her exit after six seasons was something of a head-scratcher — and came around the time of other high-profile exits, like Kate McKinnon and Pete Davidson.
However, in a new interview with The Daily Beast podcast The Last Laugh, Villaseñor revealed it was her decision to walk.
“At the end of the day it was about my mental health,” the comedian and author of the new book Whoops…I’m Awesome says.
She continues, “Last season, I had a couple of panic attacks … I was struggling. I always felt like I was on the edge of a cliff every week. And I was like, ‘I don’t want to be doing that to myself anymore.'”
Villaseñor continued, “And it’s not like the show was mean towards me or anyone. It was just how I handle things. I think I’m an introvert. When I’m in a big group of a lot of amazing people, and everyone’s speaking over everyone else, I think I tend to get small … That’s how I was in high school, too. And so I think that’s what caused it.”
Melissa says it was “super hard” to “part ways” with the show, because she loves SNL executive producer Lorne Michaels and was “so grateful” she got a chance to be part of it. “I shared with them that this was … all I wanted as a kid. So I’m going to carry that forever in my heart, that I got to experience that in my life.”
Paramount Home Entertainment has announced that the biggest film of the year, and of Tom Cruise‘s career, Top Gun: Maverick, will come to 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD November 1.
In addition to a high-def presentation of the film, the 4K and Blu releases will come packed with featurettes about the making of the $1.3 billion-grossing film.
Included will be some 110 minutes of bonus content, including how Cruise and his co-stars, including Miles Teller, Glen Powell and Monica Barbaro, and director Joseph Kosinski actually captured the most realistic aerial scenes in Hollywood history.
Also included are videos about Cruise’s passion for flying in real life, as well as music videos for tracks from the film from Lady Gaga and One Republic.
L-R: Hale, Schaal, and Hale — Disney/Brendan Meadows
The second season of The Mysterious Benedict Society debuts Wednesday with a two-episode premiere on Disney+. Once again, Veep vet Tony Hale plays the do-gooder, the eccentric Mr. Benedict, and his nefarious twin brother Dr. L.D. Curtain.
Benedict has gathered a new group of talented kids, but the second season sees him and faithful assistant Kristen Schaal‘s Number Two kidnapped, leading the children to call upon their special skills to find their lost comrades.
Hale tells ABC Audio he was excited to see the series return. “It’s really encouraging because what the books bring by Trent Stewart, I just so believe in…the fact that these kids, they don’t have the superpowers,” he says. “Their superpower is their intellect, their creativity and their empathy. And just that idea that everybody has a unique gift and can be a hero. And not to sound cheesy, but the uniqueness of that each child is what they bring to the table. And I love that!”
Season 2 sees some changes, however, Hale explains. “Both Kristen and my characters were kind of thrown for a loop because the guy that we ousted the first season, who is the, quote, bad guy, now all of a sudden, he’s a self-help guru selling happiness. And we’re just like, what?!” he says.
Schaal, who famously voices Louise on Bob’s Burgers, says she gave a lot of autographs out to her young co-stars just for that reason. She also loves what makes Number Two tick. “That character is so fun because she definitely is very efficient, very good at things, which I am not,” she expresses.
She adds of her young colleagues, “They’re so talented and fun and capable…So it’s just been a real pleasure to get to work with them.”

Wednesday is a good day for Star Wars fans who have Disney+: The streaming service has not only dropped the eighth chapter of its well-received 12-episode series Andor, but it also debuted its animated series Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi.
Lucasfilm’s anthology series of shorts was created by Dave Filoni, the producer of the Emmy-winning Star Wars: The Clone Wars and the co-creator of another Emmy-winning series, The Mandalorian.
Darker in tone than one might expect, the show delves into events that have unfolded in the Star Wars prequels and the Clone Wars series.
Fans will be treated to seeing the earliest days of Ahsoka Tano as well as unseen elements of her training with teacher Anakin Skywalker. Clone Wars vets Ashley Eckstein and Matt Lanter both reprise their respective voice roles.
Also key to the series is the fall of Count Dooku. The villain, played by the late Christopher Lee in the Star Wars prequels, is shown in a different light in the shorts. The Jedi master to apprentice Qui-Gon Jinn — played by Liam Neeson in the prequels and in Tales — is conflicted and fed up with the corruption of the Galactic Senate. This makes Dooku a powerful potential ally to be swayed by his eventual master Darth Sidious, voiced by Star Wars movie veteran Ian McDiarmid.
The show also features the voices of Jurassic World series star and Mandalorian director Bryce Dallas Howard, Clancy Brown, Theo Rossi and another Clone Wars star, James Arnold Taylor.
The cause of death has been revealed for beloved Harry Potter series star Robbie Coltrane. According to U.K.’s Mirror, the Scottish actor’s death certificate reported he passed away last on October 14 from multiple organ failure. He was 72. Jules Bass, who along with Arthur Rankin Jr. produced the beloved stop-motion Christmas classics like Frosty the Snowman and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, has died. Variety reports Bass’ daughter confirmed that her father passed away Tuesday at 87 years old, at an assisted living facility in Rye, New York. Rankin passed way in 2014…
Grey’s Anatomy alum Jesse Williams has been tapped for a role in season thre of Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building in a recurring role, according to Entertainment Weekly. The nationwideDisney Princess – The Concert is underway, which features Broadway actresses who embodied the beloved princesses on the Great White Way.
“This is an opportunity for all of you who love the movies and the music from movies to come in and celebrate,” Syndee Winters, who played Nala in Broadway’s The Lion King, told ABC Audio. “We have a 40-foot LED screen that projects all of the animation from the films. This is a combination between a Disney show, a Broadway show and a pop concert.”
The cast shares stories about their Broadway experiences while singing more than 30 favorite Disney songs.
“The audience gets to shout back to us, sing along with us, give us feedback. We laugh, we make jokes. It’s super fun, and it’s an opportunity for the audience to relive their VHS glory days,” Winters added.
Sarah Uriarte Berry, Beauty and the Beast’s Belle, noted the show “hit[s] you on so many other levels.”
While the concert is perfect for all ages, the cast revealed it’s the adults who bring the energy and make them feel like they’re the Spice Girls.
Said Isabelle McCalla, Jasmine in Broadway’s Aladdin, “We are these rock stars for them because we just happen to be the vehicles for these songs that are so much bigger than all of us. And it just feels truly magical.”
“My favorite is when we just hint to what Disney princess is next and you hear this eruption from the crowd,” added Christy Altomare, who played Anya in Anastasia.
Altomare also encourages everyone who plans on seeing the show to “wear your best royal attire no matter what!”
