Camila Alves, the 40-year-old model wife of Matthew McConaughey, is modeling a not-so-enviable look on Instagram: posing in a neck brace for a photo, she told her followers she took a nasty spill down the stairs.

She explained, “I am OK but… Don’t fall people…don’t fall. Ladies hold your long dresses up or lose pants up when going by down the stairs!!”

The mother of three noted, “Wind blew mine as I was midair, pant fabric wrapped around my shoe and down the floor I went…A silly fall, turned into not so silly neck situation, recovery time ahead.”

Alves, who is Brazilian, also repeated the warning in her native Portuguese for her nearly 970,000 followers.

ABC has released a tease of star and executive producer Ellen Pompeo‘s final episode as a series regular on Grey’s Anatomy. It will air when the long-running drama returns February 23.

“Last day,” her Dr. Meredith Grey says in the clip, which also shows her Grey Sloan colleagues toasting her.

“Meredith leaves Seattle to begin again,” a legend in the spot reads.

Thursday night’s episode saw Meredith emailing her letter of resignation; viewers previously learned she is bound for a new opportunity in Boston.

Pompeo had agreed to appear in eight episodes this 19th season; Deadline notes the February 23 episode will be the seventh, and she’s expected to return for the finale. She also may appear in future episodes, the trade explains, as well as contribute to the show’s voice-overs.

Andrew Morton, the journalist who wrote the tell-all book Diana: Her True Story, said watching his time with the late Princess Diana being portrayed on the new season of The Crown left him shaken.

Morton wrote his 1992 bestselling book with the cooperation of the princess of Wales, who sent him audio recordings so that he could tell her story.

In the fifth season of The Crown, airing now on Netflix, Diana, portrayed by actress Elizabeth Debicki, is seen recording answers to Morton’s interview questions at her Kensington Palace home.

“When you see Diana talking, you’re really seeing what happened, and she’s using many of the words which she sent to me through tape recordings,” Morton told Good Morning America, explaining he consulted on the episode that featured his collaboration with Diana.

Watching the show “left me breathless … I don’t say this very often, but I was shaken,” Morton says.

The Crown season 5 focuses on the family’s modern history, including the marital troubles between Diana and King Charles III, then the Prince of Wales.

The couple officially divorced in 1996. Charles would go on to marry Camilla, now the queen consort.

Diana died in a car crash on August 31, 1997, at the age of 36, while fleeing the paparazzi in Paris.

Morton said of watching the show, “What I didn’t realize at the time was [Diana’s] sense of isolation, her sense of despair inside the royal system.”

In a first this season, Netflix added a disclaimer to its trailer for The Crown amid criticism from some, including actress Judi Dench, who accused the show of “crude sensationalism.”

The disclaimer added by Netflix reads in part, “… this fictional dramatisation tells the story of Queen Elizabeth II and the political and personal events that shaped her reign.”

Kevin Conroy, iconic voice of Batman, dead at 66

Kevin Conroy, the actor best known for providing the voice of Batman and Bruce Wayne in animated shows and video games, has died, ABC News has confirmed.

He was 66, passing after a short battle with cancer, according to his rep Gary Miereanu.

The Juilliard-trained actor’s career on television included the soap Another World, but for decades his talents were dedicated to voice-over work. In 1992 he debuted as the voice of both the Caped Crusader and his playboy alter-ego in the Emmy-winning and influential Batman: The Animated Series.

It was a dual role that followed him for decades; his growly take on Batman and his passive, jovial voice as Wayne — much closer to Conroy’s natural speaking voice — were heard over dozens of animated shows in the DC Universe, including the Batman: The Animated Series spin-off Batman Beyond, as well as in bestselling video games like Arkham Asylum.

In recent years, Conroy even portrayed the character in live-action form on CW’s Crisis on Infinite Earths event and on the network’s Batwoman.

In the statement on his passing, Mark Hamill, who famously voiced The Joker opposite Conroy’s Dark Knight, stated, “Kevin was perfection. He was one of my favorite people on the planet, and I loved him like a brother.”

He also called Conroy “a brilliant actor” and “the definitive Batman” for generations.

“It was one of those perfect scenarios where they got the exact right guy for the exact right part, and the world was better for it,” the actor commented.

Hamill concluded by saying, “He will always be my Batman.”

Watermelon-smashing stand-up comic Gallagher dead at 76

Gallagher, who was a stand-up mainstay in the ’80s, thanks to an act that would see him smashing watermelons and other items onstage, has died, ABC Audio has confirmed.

The comedian, who was born Leo Anthony Gallagher Jr., was 76 and passed away in Palm Springs after a “short health battle,” according to his publicist.

Gallagher’s An Uncensored Evening in 1980 was his first comedy special for Showtime, bringing his odd brand of humor and his “Sledge-o-matic” hammer to a nationwide audience.

In the ’90s, Gallagher allowed his brother, Ron Gallagher, to use his famous “Sledge-O-Matic” bit in his own stand-up act, but after Ron started performing as Gallagher Too or Gallagher Two, the original sued him in 2000 for trademark violations and barred Ron from performances in which he allegedly impersonated Leo.

Gallagher was recently portrayed by actor Paul F. Tompkins in Roku’s new Weird Al Yankovic biopic, Weird: The Al Yankovic Story.

The cast of ‘Yellowstone’ discusses flawed characters, layered storytelling in season 5

Things look a bit different on the Dutton Ranch as the season 5 premiere of Yellowstone debuts this weekend on Paramount Network. With John Dutton, played by Kevin Costner, now governor of Montana, expect plenty of shifts in alliances, friendships and family dynamics.

One thing that’s held steady: Yellowstone creator/writer Taylor Sheridan’s hand in bringing one of cable’s most successful shows to life.

“I think Taylor is one of the great American writers … he writes characters that are flawed, that are real,” says Cole Hauser, who plays fan-favorite Rip Wheeler. He tells ABC Audio imperfection is what makes Yellowstone tick.

“I think it’s pretty unique in its voice, in its telling of America now — and it’s linked to America then,” Wes Bentley, who plays Jamie Dutton, says. “It’s something that a lot of people don’t always — aren’t able to tie together. Taylor is really great at that.”

Another signature feature in Sheridan’s works: His affinity for Native Americans and their culture, shining a light on the complex issues, past and present, in his big- and small-screen projects.

“In his younger years Taylor spent a lot of time on the reservations on the Lakota lands,” says Gil Birmingham, who plays casino boss Thomas Rainwater and is also High Chief of the Broken Rock Indian reservation. “He’s finally gotten into a position where he can get projects green-lit … Yellowstone and introducing these issues and challenges for the Native community are the same things that he witnessed in his personal life. So we’re very grateful to have an alliance like that in somebody that’s so supportive.”

Yellowstone season 5 premieres Sunday at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Paramount Network.

ABC Audio’s Wakanda Week: Lupita Nyong’o says ‘Wakanda Forever’ is a “rare occasion” where art deliberately imitates life

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is in theaters everywhere on Friday, and for star Lupita Nyong’o, the moment is surreal.

After the death of Chadwick Boseman in 2020, Nyong’o didn’t think they would be able to go forward with the sequel.

“When Chadwick passed away, I just couldn’t imagine going back to Wakanda. That was just an impossibility,” Nyong’o told ABC Audio. “All of us were really disillusioned by it and just asking the question, ‘What is the point of life?’”

Eventually, director Ryan Coogler called her to explain his vision for what a continuation of the story could look like. At the end of that phone call, Nyong’o cried.

“I wept because I was relieved. Because I felt like the story – he managed to do two incredible things,” Nyong’o said. “He managed to pay homage and tribute to Chadwick, and tell a riveting, socially poignant story. And take us on a ride. I don’t know how you do all of that, but he did it.”

Even still, Nyong’o said it wasn’t easy to come back and make the new movie.

“It was emotional to make,” Nyong’o said. “We were still very much experiencing the grief of losing Chadwick and it really informs the story that we told in this film.”

Nyong’o’s character, Nakia, was Boseman’s love interest in the first Black Panther film. This time around, Nyong’o said that her onscreen feelings mirrored many that she felt offscreen.

“Nakia taught me a lot in her emotional intelligence and wisdom. I had to really rise to the occasion, but I got to use my grief,” Nyong’o said. “It wasn’t hard to tap into those moments because they were truthful. And so, this film is a rare, really rare occasion where art is directly and deliberately imitating life.”

Emily Blunt saddles up for Amazon’s Western series ‘The English’

The new Western series The English, debuting today on Prime Video, looks to turn the genre on its head. It stars Chaske Spencer as an ex-cavalry scout, and Emily Blunt as an aristocratic English woman — the unlikely duo forced together by circumstance in the old west of the late 1800s.

Blunt, who now considers herself an expert horse rider, tells ABC she felt like she “was sort of holding on for dear life” in the beginning.

It was something she really focused on, explaining that people in the old West “were so at one with the horse…And so I just wanted it to look effortless.”

Blunt says she grew up on Westerns, thanks to her parents.

“…The first, I guess you could call it Western. Do you remember Old Yeller?…I was devastated by Old Yeller…And then my mom showed me Shane. And then I remember watching The Unforgiven…so I did grow up watching a lot of them.”

Spencer, a veteran of the Twilight films, jumped at playing a Native American as the show’s male lead –something you don’t see in most Westerns.

“[Those roles were] always reserved for Clint Eastwood or Paul Newman or Christopher Jones,” he says. “So this to me, it was an easy yes to participate in this in this project, because I’d never done this before.”

Which was the whole point of the show for creator Hugo Blick, who was looking to turn the genre on its head.

“So instead of Jimmy Stewart, we’ve got a woman of agency played by Emily Blunt,” he explains. “And then perhaps even more interestingly, [Spencer’s] archetype…is normally the preserve of your Eastwood [or] your Newman, is there being inhabited by Chaske Spencer.”

If you’re hoping to date People‘s Sexiest Man Alive following the cover-page crowning of Chris Evans, you may be too late. Entertainment Tonight is reporting the big screen’s Captain America is getting “serious” with model and Warrior Nun‘s Alba Baptista.

A source says the 41-year-old star and the 25-year-old Portuguese actress “are very in love and their relationship is serious.” The source added, “Chris has never been happier. His family and friends all adore Alba.”

Incidentally, Evans’ People spread had him opining on his romantic life, explaining of marriage and fatherhood in the future, “That’s absolutely something I want.”

In July, he told Shondaland‘s Mariel Turner he’s “laser-focused on finding a partner … really trying to find someone that you really can pour all of yourself into. Maybe it’s about trying to find someone that you’re looking to spend your life with.”
