If you love the Shrek movies, Airbnb has got a number — or more accurately, an address — for this Halloween.

The homeshare company is opening up a painstakingly recreated version of Shrek’s swampy abode for its guests, just in time for Halloween.

“Shrek’s mud-laden, moss-covered, murky-watered swamp is situated among the rolling hills of Scotland where guests can stay up late, swap stories, and eat like an ogre – because in the morning, Donkey’s making waffles!” the company’s ad copy teases.

“Located among the hills of the Scottish Highlands, Shrek’s Swamp is a stumpy, secluded haven fit for a solitude-seeking ogre – and for the first time ever, a handful of his biggest fans,” Airbnb continues.

If you’re looking for a review before you book your stay, look no further than your host, Donkey. Note: the review is best read in Eddie Murphy‘s voice. “Shrek’s Swamp is lovely. Just beautiful. The perfect place to entertain guests. You know what I like about it? Everything,” his review reads. “The overgrown landscaping, the modest interiors, the nice boulders, all of it. I can’t wait for guests to experience this muddy slice of paradise for themselves.”

The company says, “With Donkey in charge, guests will have the chance to live their own versions of the layered ogre life for two special, starry nights (minus the torches, pitchforks, and intrusive Duloc Knights).”

Bookings for the fairytale stay begin Friday, October 13, at 1 a.m. ET.

Martin Scorsese says studio execs wanted ‘The Departed’ to be a franchise

Martin Scorsese says studio execs wanted ‘The Departed’ to be a franchise
Martin Scorsese says studio execs wanted ‘The Departed’ to be a franchise
Mike Coppola/FilmMagic

In an extensive interview with GQ ahead of the October 20 release of his Killers of the Flower Moon, Martin Scorsese explains why he turned his back on the studio system.

As an anecdote, he says the film for which he won his only Oscar, 2006’s The Departed, would have been quite different if studio execs had their way: Notably, the shocking deaths of both an undercover cop played by Leonardo DiCaprio and Matt Damon‘s rat of a detective never would have happened.

Instead, after a successful test screening, Warner Bros. execs apparently asked Scorsese if they could both survive to live on in a sequel.

“What they wanted was a franchise,” Scorsese says. “It wasn’t about a moral issue of a person living or dying. They wanted the franchise. Which means: I can’t work here anymore.”

It wasn’t long after that, that Scorsese decided to only direct films he can finance outside the studio system. “I thought I was in a Hollywood group. It didn’t work,” he says.

The New York City-born and bred filmmaker behind classics like Taxi Driver, Raging Bull and Goodfellas adds of the Motion Picture Academy, “I don’t really belong there. I don’t know if I think like them. I just mind my own business here.”

As for the future, the 81-year-old notes he doesn’t have a lot of time left. “[I]f I could just muster up the energy, God willing, to make a couple more [films], one more maybe, and that’s it, OK? That’s as far as I got. You keep going until you can’t.”

He adds, “I’m gonna try until they pick me up off the floor. What can I tell you?”

Jason Sudeikis and Olivia Wilde have reportedly settled their custody case.

Sudeikis, 48, agreed to pay $27,500 in monthly child support for their two children — son Otis, 9, and daughter Daisy, who’ll turn 7 in October — according to court documents obtained by the Daily Mail. The Ted Lasso star will also have to cover 25% of Wilde’s childcare costs, on top of the $27,500 monthly payment.

The former couple have also agreed to share joint custody of the two children, on a “week-on, week-off basis.”

Sudeikis’ estimated income was $10.5 million, while Wilde, 39, made about $500,000, according to the court documents.

The ex-couple first began dating in 2011 after meeting at a Saturday Night Live finale party and got engaged the following year. They welcomed Otis in August 2014 and Daisy in October 2016, before announcing their split in November 2020.

The agreement comes a year after Wilde was infamously served with custody papers at CinemaCon while promoting her film, Don’t Worry Darling, touching off a bitter legal battle. A source close to Sudeikis later told People that the Emmy winner “had no prior knowledge” she’d be served “in such an inappropriate manner.”

If you thought TAYLOR SWIFT | THE ERAS TOUR concert film couldn’t get any bigger, you’d be wrong.

Theater chain AMC announced the movie is getting worldwide distribution, into more than 100 countries, beginning on October 13.

A “so excited” Taylor broke the news on her Instagram at 8 a.m. ET, noting, “The tour isn’t the only thing we’re taking worldwide,” noting tickets are available now.

The deal with AMC and its international partners will see the concert film run in some 7,500 theaters around the world.

The anticipated movie will play at every Odeon Cinemas locations throughout Europe, AMC noted, with other partners being added, “to play this spectacular Taylor Swift tour-de-force.”

Prognosticators already predict THE ERAS TOUR FILM will be the highest-grossing film of its kind in history; The Hollywood Reporter points out the previous titleholder, 2011’s Justin Bieber: Never Say Never made just shy of $100 million worldwide.

And with more than 4,000 movie theaters in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico alone already slated to screen the movie, it is expected that record will be topped in no time.

“When the film was first announced on August 31, it took less than 24 hours for the TAYLOR SWIFT | THE ERAS TOUR concert film to shatter AMC’s U.S. record for the highest ticket-sales revenue during a single day in AMC’s 103-year history,” the company touted.

“With such overwhelming demand being evident, it became obvious that there should be an immediate worldwide release of the film,” AMC added.

In a heartfelt new interview, Angus Cloud‘s mother, Lisa Cloud, shared fond memories of her son and the final moments leading up to his tragic passing on July 31.

While reminiscing in Angus’s graffiti-adorned bedroom, Lisa described him as “beautiful and creative,” cherishing his love for his home and his small room. Pointing to the paint-splattered desk where Angus, whose birth name was Conor, was discovered on that fateful day at the age of 25, Lisa told People, “This is where my boy passed away.”

“I started shaking him and screaming. I pushed him hard, and he fell on the floor. I tried to resuscitate him — mouth to mouth — and I was compressing him,” she recalled through tears. “I was screaming for my neighbor because I didn’t want to leave him and call 911, and I just kept at it until they took him away.” She wipes away a tear. “I miss him so much. He was the love of my life.”

Angus had fallen victim to acute intoxication from an accidental drug overdose, with Fentanyl, benzodiazepines, cocaine, and methamphetamine in his system.

“It was predominantly the central nervous system depressants. It started to slow his heart and slow his breathing,” Lisa explained. “He got tired from lack of oxygen. Everything just slowed down, and eventually his heart stopped and he went to sleep. But he didn’t kill himself.”

Despite her profound loss, Lisa expressed gratitude for the overwhelming love and support from Angus’s fans and friends.

“He went out at his total power, his total beauty, his total influence, and the reaction that everyone has had is very moving to me,” she added. “You know, he’s not just an actor who overdosed. He was a beautiful soul, and that’s why people miss him so much.”

Neil deGrasse Tyson says Halle Berry’s ‘Moonfall’ dethroned ‘Armageddon’ as least scientifically accurate movie

Neil deGrasse Tyson says Halle Berry’s ‘Moonfall’ dethroned ‘Armageddon’ as least scientifically accurate movie
Neil deGrasse Tyson says Halle Berry’s ‘Moonfall’ dethroned ‘Armageddon’ as least scientifically accurate movie
Lionsgate

Physicist — and arguably cinematic wet blanket — Neil deGrasse Tyson has traditionally been quick to point out scientific inaccuracies in films, but he’s giving Halle Berry‘s 2022 dud Moonfall a top honor.

Well, dishonor, really: He says the movie co-written and directed by Roland Emmerich has dethroned 1998’s Armageddon as the movie that “violates the most laws of physics per minute.”

Tyson’s review of Moonfall, on SiriusXM’s The Jess Cagle Show, sounds like a bad Hollywood pitch meeting — but bear in mind, somebody bought this pitch: “The moon is approaching Earth, and they learned that it’s hollow and there’s a moon being made out of rocks living inside of it and the Apollo missions were really to visit, to feed the moon being.”

The scientist laughs, “I just couldn’t.”

Tyson continues, “I thought Armageddon had a secure hold on this crown” of the least science-y science fiction movie, “but apparently not.”

Armageddon posited there was a killer asteroid on a collision course with Earth, so it was up to a ragtag group of oil-working roughnecks — led by Bruce Willis — to go to space and plant a bomb in the rock.

In reality, Tyson explains, that’s far too complicated a solution. “All you gotta do is just nudge it, and if you do that early enough, if you nudge it like 1 centimeter per second to the right, in space there’s no friction, so it’ll just keep drifting to the right.”

‘The Drew Barrymore Show’ to return in October

ABC Audio has confirmed that The Drew Barrymore Show is eyeing a return in October.

The news comes a day after a tentative agreement for the Writers Guild of America brought an end to the strike that began in May.

Barrymore became entangled in headlines related to the strike, first winning praise from strikers for stepping down in May as host of the MTV Movie and TV Awards in solidarity with the writers.

However, more recently, she was flamed for her announcement that she was resuming production of her eponymous show while the strike was still on.

She later apologized and changed course, noting on Instagram, “I have listened to everyone, and I am making the decision to pause the show’s premiere until the strike is over.”

She continued, “I have no words to express my deepest apologies to anyone I have hurt and, of course, to our incredible team who works on the show and has made it what it is today.”

After the announcement that she was pausing production until the strike was resolved, producers of other shows that were preparing to get back underway before the strike ended, like CBS’ The Talk and The Jennifer Hudson Show, also made the decision to wait.

Maury Povich, the guy who turned paternity testing into something of a daytime game show element, says he wants to find out once and for all if Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey are related.

As reported, McConaughey told Kelly Ripa on her podcast earlier this year that he and his pal Woody might be more than just besties. “In Greece a few years ago, we’re sitting around talking about how close we are and our families,” he said.

“And my mom is there, and she says, ‘Woody, I knew your dad.’ Everyone was aware of the ellipses that my mom left after ‘knew.’ It was a loaded K-N-E-W.”

The respective stars compared notes, he explained, and figured out there was a window of time while Matthew’s mom and dad were separated that something could have happened.

Woody is a go for a DNA test, but McConaughey told Kelly he’s hesitant: “He’s asking me to take a chance to go, ‘Wait a minute, you’re trying to tell me my dad may not be my dad after 53 years of believing that?'”

At any rate, during an interview with McConaughey on E! News, the host surprised him with a video message from Povich, who said he’s all in.

“Matthew, I don’t know you; Woody, you’re my pal. But guess what? I would come out of retirement. We could do prime-time DNA: Maury’s back with Woody and Matthew!”

He continued, “I’m ready!”

McConaughey smiled in response, saying to Povich, “I don’t know if we’re going to be calling you to do it on your show, but I like the way you’re thinking.”
