Lisa Marie Presley’s cause of death has been revealed.

The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner said Thursday that Presley died from a small bowel obstruction, according to an autopsy report.

The report says that Presley was “complaining of abdominal pain on the morning of 1/12/2023” and was later “found unresponsive at home and 9-1-1 was called.”

Presley was transported to West Hills Hospital in Southern California, where, despite medical intervention, she was pronounced dead.

While she was hospitalized she “was found to have a severely distended abdomen and diagnosed with severe metabolic acidosis.”

According to the National Institutes of Health, small bowel obstruction is a mechanical block in the bowel. The leading cause of small bowel obstructions are adhesions, which can develop after surgery.

In the autopsy, it was noted that Presley had bariatric surgery, or gastric bypass surgery, prior to her death, but noted that it was “not related to the immediate cause of death.”

The singer and songwriter, who was the only child of Elvis Presley, died January 12, 2023. She was 54 years old.

Lea Michele is paying tribute to Cory Monteith 10 years after the actor’s tragic death.

“Hey you. 10 years. It feels like only yesterday that you were here and yet a million years ago all at the same time,” Michele, 36, wrote in a heartfelt Instagram post shared on Thursday, July 13, exactly a decade after Monteith, her Glee co-star and former boyfriend, died.

“I hold all of our memories in my heart where they will stay safe and never forgotten,” she continued. “We miss you every day and will never forget the light you brought to us all. I miss you big guy.”

Michele and Monteith met and fell in love on the set of Glee, playing musical theater wunderkind Rachel Berry and Finn Hudson, the high school jock with the voice of an angel.

Monteith was found dead in his Vancouver hotel room on July 13, 2013, at the age of 31. It was determined that the actor, who had a history of substance abuse, died of mixed drug toxicity, involving heroin and alcohol. His death was ruled accidental.

Michele and the rest of the Glee family paid tribute to him months later with an emotion-packed season 5 episode titled “The Quarterback.”

As an actress and author, Fran Drescher was never one to mince words, and as the president of SAG-AFTRA, she had some choice ones Thursday afternoon for Hollywood studios’ offers to try — in vain, as it turns out — to avoid a strike.

After the national board of SAG-AFTRA voted to go on strike Thursday, Drescher took to the mic to blast the last-ditch offer. “It came with great sadness that we came to this crossroads,” she said. “We had no choice.”

Drescher continued, “We are the victims here. We are being victimized by a very greedy entity. I am shocked by the way the people that we have been in business with are treating us. I cannot believe it, quite frankly, how far apart we are on so many things. How they plead poverty, that they’re losing money left and right, while giving hundreds of millions of dollars to their CEOs. It is disgusting. Shame on them.”

She continued, “At some point, the jig is up. You cannot keep being dwindled and marginalized, and disrespected and dishonored. The entire business model has been changed by streaming, digital, AI … if we don’t stand tall right now, we are all going to be … in jeopardy of being replaced by machines.”

Drescher said, “What happens here … (is) what’s happening across all fields of labor by means of when employers make Wall Street and greed their priority, and they forget about the essential contributors that make the machine run.”

For its part, the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers insisted it “presented a deal that offered historic pay and residual increases, substantially higher caps on pension and health contributions, audition protections, shortened series option periods, and a groundbreaking AI proposal that protects actors’ digital likenesses for SAG-AFTRA members.”

FX/Patrick McElhenney

Rob McElhenney is opening up about being diagnosed recently with “a host of neurodevelopmental disorders and learning disabilities.”

The Welcome to Wrexham and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia star shared the news Tuesday, July 11, on Twitter.

“I was recently diagnosed with a host of neurodevelopmental disorders and learning disabilities! At 46!” he wrote.

Neurodevelopmental disorders are “behavioural and cognitive disorders, that arise during the developmental period, and involve significant difficulties in the acquisition and execution of specific intellectual, motor, language, or social functions,” according to the World Health Organization.

They can include “disorders of intellectual development, autism spectrum disorder, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) amongst others,” the WHO states, adding, “Psychosocial interventions, behavioural interventions, occupational and speech therapy” are among treatment options.

Learning disabilities, according to the National Institutes of Health, are “disorders that affect the ability to understand or use spoken or written language, do mathematical calculations, coordinate movements [and] direct attention.”

McElhenney said he will go through his “full diagnosis/prognosis” on an upcoming episode of The Always Sunny Podcast, which drops in two weeks.

“It’s not something I would normally talk about publicly but I figured there are others who struggle with similar things and I wanted to remind you that you’re not alone,” he noted.

“You’re not stupid. You’re not ‘bad,'” he continued. “It might feel that way sometimes. But it’s not true :).”

McElhenney hosts The Always Sunny Podcast with show co-stars/co-creators Charlie Day and Glenn Howerton and is married to his co-star Kaitlin Olson. Danny DeVito also stars on the sitcom, which is currently airing its 16th season.

ABC

In a quick promo shared with Variety, it was reported that the single senior looking for love in The Golden Bachelor will be revealed Monday, July 17, on Good Morning America

As ABC previously reported back in May, the forthcoming show “showcases a whole new kind of love story,” one in which “one hopeless romantic is given a second chance at love in the search for a partner with whom to share the sunset years of life.”

ABC continued at the time, “The women arriving at the mansion have a lifetime of experience, living through love, loss and laughter, hoping for a spark that ignites a future full of endless possibilities. In the end, will our Golden man turn the page to start a new chapter with the woman of his dreams?”

The short tease, set to the age-appropriate classic “This Magic Moment,” has the show’s classic red rose swapped to gold, with the note that the show will air Mondays this fall at 10 p.m.

‘What We Do in the Shadows’ returns Thursday night on FX

‘What We Do in the Shadows’ returns Thursday night on FX
FX

On Thursday, July 13, at 10 p.m., FX’s hit vampire mockumentary What We Do in the Shadows returns for its fifth season.

Like the 2014 movie of the same name from Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi, the Emmy-nominated comedy centers on a group of vampires living in the New York City borough of Staten Island. Star Mark Proksch says it’s been quite a ride.

“It’s been crazy,” the show’s energy vampire Colin Robinson says to ABC Audio. “It’s a slow burn. And I think that slow burns are good nowadays because if your show gets tons of attention right away, it peaks and people get bored with it…”

He adds, “So having it be a slow progression to people really loving and coming to the show I think has been a real a big part of the show’s success…”

This season, Colin found a job that perfectly fits his ability to drain people of their spirit: He runs for office.

Kayvan Novak plays the vampire Nandor the Relentless. The U.K.-born actor says this season, his character’s feeling “lost” because his adoring, long-suffering familiar Guillermo has finally become a vampire, but not with Nandor’s help as promised. “[H]e’s wondering why his kind of devoted, beloved familiar is kind of a little distracted, you know, because he needs that…attention to be able to kind of flick it away…,” Novak says.

Harvey Guillén plays Guillermo, who, like him, revealed himself to be queer. He explains how his character’s recently revealed sexuality has connected with fans he’s met, saying, “[It] just made me realize that it’s through entertainment…you might…maybe make someone aware of something they didn’t know about themselves, or maybe teach a lesson that they didn’t know about the kind of society we live in.”
