Adam Sandler is an astronaut in his next film.

The actor takes on a dramatic role in the upcoming movie Spaceman. In an official first look video for the movie, Sandler is seen in a spacesuit, walking through a forest.

“Just like you, I fled my planet,” he says in the clip. “Through galaxies, through black holes, through time. And then I found … you.”

According to the logline, Spaceman follows an astronaut who “finds his earthly life falling to pieces” as he is “sent to the edge of the galaxy to collect mysterious ancient dust.”

“He turns to the only voice who can help him try to put it back together,” the logline continues. “It just so happens to belong to a creature from the beginning of time lurking in the shadows of his ship.”

The film is based on the novel Spaceman of Bohemia by Jaroslav Kalfař. The movie is directed by Johan Renck, with a screenplay by Colby Day.

Spaceman will be available to stream on Netflix on March 1.

Hannah Waddingham knows you miss Ted Lasso — so does she.

The Emmy-winning actress joined Good Morning America on Tuesday to discuss her holiday special on Apple TV+, and reacted to hopes for a spinoff of the soccer-centric series focused on her and co-star Juno Temple‘s characters, besties Rebecca Welton and Keeley Jones.

“If I told you that, I’d have to kill you,” Waddingham replied in her best Rebecca voice.

“Actually, in all seriousness, I don’t know. I would love there to be a world in which we can dip in and out and see them over time,” she said. “If you guys are mourning Ted Lasso, trust me, the cast are mourning it more.”

Luckily, the cast is everywhere these days, and they seem to quite enjoy each other’s company. Just last month, Waddingham teamed up with co-star Jason Sudeikis for a duet of “Shallow” at a charity event.

Waddingham told GMA the moment was “actually an accident” and a last-minute change after they realized the song they were originally going to sing wasn’t going to work, saying, “It was too low for me, too high for him.”

Despite realizing this just days before the event and taking to the stage with little to no rehearsal, the duo wowed the crowd.

Now fans can watch the West End star delivering holiday cheer in Hannah Waddingham: Home for Christmas. It was filmed at the London Coliseum where, as an 8-year-old, she watched her mother perform as an opera singer. Now her own daughter, also 8, is watching her on the very same stage.

For Waddingham, the experience “was the weirdest kind of serendipity.”

Hannah Waddingham: Home for Christmas is now streaming on Apple TV+.

Marvel drops Jonathan Majors after domestic violence trial verdict

Disney has dropped Jonathan Majors from future productions as the Marvel villain Kang, the studio said on Monday evening.

The studio’s decision came just hours after the actor was found guilty of one count of third-degree assault and one count of second-degree harassment, but acquitted of two other counts of assault and aggravated harassment in a split verdict. Both counts he was convicted on were misdemeanors.

Disney is the parent company of ABC News and Marvel.

Majors, 34, had been charged with assault and aggravated harassment, all misdemeanors, stemming from a March altercation with his then-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari, in New York City.

The actor is scheduled to be sentenced for the two guilty counts on Feb. 6. He faces up to a year in prison on the two misdemeanor counts, though that sentence is unlikely for a first-time offender.

Marvel first announced Majors in the role of Kang in December 2020. He was set to play Kang in multiple movies and TV shows, including Avengers: Kang Dynasty which is slated for a 2026 release date.

The character’s complex history in the comics allowed for Majors to play multiple versions of Kang in each film and TV show.

Majors made his first appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe playing “He Who Remains,” a Kang variant, in the season one finale of the Disney+ series Loki, which premiered in July 2021.

Majors played another version of the character, Kang the Conqueror, in 2023’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, and another variant, Victor Timely, in the second season of Loki, which premiered a few months later.

Everybody has their favorite Christmas movie, but the industry analysts at Samba TV say they’ve unwrapped the data on the ones being watched the most this year.

Jon Favreau‘s Elf, starring Will Ferrell, was streamed by 9 million households in the U.S. between November 10 and December 10, topping all the competition, according to data shared exclusively with USA Today.

The outlet explains Samba considers a “watch” a given household watching at least five minutes of a given film.

Coming in second was Chevy Chase and company in National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, which was streamed by 8 million households in that time; Home Alone ranked third, with 7.1 million views.

When it comes to new holiday fare, Netflix’s Best. Christmas. Ever! starring Jason Biggs and Heather Graham was watched by 2.3 million households, good enough for fourth place.

Netflix’s The Family Switch, starring Jennifer Garner and Ed Helms, tied for fifth with another new entry, Eddie Murphy and Tracee Ellis RossCandy Cane Lane on Prime Video. Both titles were streamed in 1.9 million households in the U.S.

Marvel star Jonathan Majors was found guilty of one count of assault and one count of harassment, but acquitted of two other counts of assault and aggravated harassment in a split verdict Monday.

The verdict came after about five hours of deliberations over portions of three days.

Majors, 34, was charged with assault and aggravated harassment, both misdemeanors, stemming from a March altercation with his then-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari, in New York City.

He had pleaded not guilty.

The mixed verdict signals the jury believed Majors recklessly assaulted his ex-girlfriend, but did not intentionally do so; it also suggests the jury did not believe Majors intentionally committed aggravated harassment inside an SUV, but did believe he harassed her outside the vehicle by picking her up off the ground and throwing her back inside.

Majors did not appear to react as the verdict was read. He and his lawyers stood facing the jury as the forewoman announced the verdict on each of the four counts.

The actor is scheduled to be sentenced for the two guilty counts on February 6. He faces up to a year in prison, though that sentence is unlikely for a first-time offender.

The judge also renewed an order of protection that prevents Majors from having any contact with Jabbari.

Majors, who has played the role of Kang in several Marvel films and TV shows, was accused of assaulting Jabbari in the back seat of a for-hire Cadillac Escalade after she grabbed his phone when a message from another woman popped up.

Prosecutors claimed the incident in the SUV left her with a cut behind her ear and a broken finger.

The defense claimed that Jabbari was the aggressor and physically attacked Majors so blatantly that the driver of their car called her “psycho girl” — and that he was left bloodied and ran to a hotel to hide from her.
