To Variety, Beef Golden Globe nominee Steven Yeun has both confirmed his rumored involvement in Marvel Studios’ team-up movie Thunderbolts as well as his regrets he had to quit the project.

It wasn’t confirmed what role The Walking Dead veteran and co-star of the Oscar-winning Minari would have had in the film, which unites a cast of MCU players into a Suicide Squad-like team.

To the trade, Yeun blamed the movie’s strike-delayed shooting schedule for his difficult decision. Bumped to July 2025, the film, which stars David Harbour, Sebastian Stan, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Florence Pugh, among others, has yet to get back underway following the strike’s resolution.

“I think for me, time passing and things shifting kind of pulled me out of it,” the actor explained, noting director Jake Schreier “is going to do an incredible job.”

“It took a lot of drafts on email to make sure that I conveyed the sincerity of how sorry I was to have to back out,” Yeun adds, noting he hopes the door hasn’t been shut because of it.

“I wanna do a Marvel movie,” the actor says. “I have some ideas. But I heard if you put it out there, you’ll never get it, so I’ll keep it close to my chest.”

Yuen also noted he thinks “it’s too early” to reveal his ideas, adding, “I probably pissed off too many people leaving, so I’m just gonna say, ‘Thank you for having me.'”

Well, at least Yeun can be satisfied for now voicing the titular superhero in Prime Video’s well-received adult-themed animated show Invincible.

Sienna Miller has reportedly welcomed a baby girl — her second child and first with model-actor boyfriend Oli Green, according to the Daily Mail.

The British newspaper reports the couple was spotted walking in West London on Wednesday, January 3, with the new baby in tow.

Photos obtained by People back in August showed the 42-year-old actress enjoying a vacation in Ibiza, where she was captured in a bikini that revealed her baby bump.

Miller is already a mom to 11-year-old daughter Marlowe, whom she shares with Tom Sturridge.

Miller and Green, 27, ignited romance rumors back in February 2022 when they were seen attending a basketball game between the New York Knicks and the Memphis Grizzlies at Madison Square Garden.

Bridgerton alumna Phoebe Dynevor has revealed to Variety that she was one of the finalists for the role of the Man of Steel’s woman in James Gunn‘s upcoming Superman: Legacy.

However, it was not to be: As reported, the role instead went to The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel‘s Rachel Brosnahan, and Dynevor apparently isn’t bitter about it.

“It was a whirlwind,” the Fair Play star says of the run-up to the audition and the tryout itself. She added, “and then I realized that it was over but it was great.”

The English actress admires the intrepid Daily Planet reporter who was most recently played by Oscar winner Amy Adams. “She saves Superman. She’s the brains; she’s actually the fearless one,” Dynevor says.

Superman: Legacy, which also stars David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman, flies into theaters July 11, 2025.

CBS has announced that Best Man star Morris Chestnut will play the lead role in Watson, a medical drama inspired by the mythology of Sherlock Holmes.

Dr. Watson was, of course, the legendary detective’s partner in solving crimes, but in the new show — which has already been ordered to series by the network — Watson gets back to work in the medical field after Holmes is killed by their nemesis Moriarty.

The network teases, “A year after the death of his friend and partner … Dr. John Watson resumes his medical career as the head of a clinic dedicated to treating rare disorders.”

“Watson’s old life isn’t done with him, though,” CBS continues. “Moriarty and Watson are set to write their own chapter of a story that has fascinated audiences for more than a century.”

The series is being called “a medical show with a strong investigative spine, featuring a modern version of one of history’s greatest detectives as he turns his attention from solving crimes to solving medical mysteries.”

It’s not Chestnut’s first appointment with the medical genre: He played skilled neurosurgeon Dr. Barrett Cain in Fox’s hit The Resident.

In the announcement, Amy Reisenbach, president of CBS Entertainment, said, “We are thrilled to feature such a beloved character from the world of Sherlock Holmes at the center of this series and have it brought to life by Morris Chestnut in a fresh and unexpected take on the immortal doctor.”

Watson is also not the first time CBS has mined Holmes lore: Its series Elementary ran for seven seasons, ending in 2019. It, too, was an updated take on Arthur Conan Doyle‘s detective, with Jonny Lee Miller as Sherlock Holmes and Lucy Liu as Dr. Joan Watson.

One of the most anticipated movies of 2024 is Joker: Folie à Deux, because Lady Gaga is taking over the now-iconic role of Harley Quinn, Joker’s partner in crime. The woman who’s most famous for embodying the character on-screen says she’s more than happy about Gaga taking up her bat.

Margot Robbie played Harley in three movies: 2016’s Suicide Squad, 2020’s Birds of Prey and 2021’s The Suicide Squad. Asking if she’s officially turning over the reins to Gaga, Margot tells Variety, “I always wanted Harley to be a character that would get passed on to other actresses to play, the way there are so many iconic male characters. That was always the dream for her.”

“Harley’s so fun and can go in so many different directions,” she adds. “You put her in someone else’s hands, and it’s like, ‘What are they going to do with her?’ The options are endless.”

As Harley, one thing Gaga will be doing differently is singing: Folie à Deux is said to be a musical of sorts. The film, featuring Joaquin Phoenix reprising his Oscar-winning role as Arthur Fleck/Joker, will be in theaters October 4.

Ryan Gosling all about singing “I’m just Ken” at the Oscars

Warner Bros. Pictures

It’s not even known if the hit song will be nominated for an Academy Award, but if it is, Ryan Gosling apparently really wants to sing “I’m Just Ken” at the ceremony.

At least that’s what the Barbie star told W magazine.

“Well, I haven’t been invited,” he admitted, adding, “And I wasn’t thinking about it until now, and now it’s all I’m going to think about.”

He joked, “Do you get paid to sing at the Oscars? Do you have to drive yourself? What kind of scratch is involved? They pick you up at least, right?”

While this year’s nominations won’t be announced until January 23, three hit songs from the blockbuster made the short list of potential Best Song choices for Academy voters: Gosling’s power ballad, Billie Eillish‘s “What Was I Made For?” and Dua Lipa‘s “Dance the Night.”

While Gosling is acting surprised, it’s a pretty safe bet Academy voters will be feeling the Kenergy when it’s time to tick their ballots. Even if the song isn’t nominated, it’s a sure thing producers would want Gosling to perform his collab with Mark Ronson at the big dance, just from a viewership standpoint.

Of his performance in Greta Gerwig‘s movie, Gosling told the magazine that after reading the script, he thought, “this is the hardest part I’ll ever play.”

He explained, “How do you approach playing a 70-year-old crotchless doll? There’s no research you can do for that. There’s no one you can shadow, no documentaries you can watch, no books written about Ken. You’re on your own.”

Netflix has dropped a teaser to Pete Davidson‘s second hour-long comedy special for the streamer.

Voiced over by Stacy Keach, who also lent his gravelly pipes to the opening of Pete’s Peacock series Bupkis, the black-and-white snippet shows Pete smoking backstage.

Keach simply states, “Coming January 9th, Pete Davidson is Turbo Fonzarelli.”

Davidson snuffs his butt in an ash tray and takes to the stage, as Keach adds, “What the f*** is a ‘Turbo Fonzarelli’?”

Turbo Fonzarelli is the follow-up to Davidson’s first special for Netflix, 2020’s Pete Davidson: Alive in New York.

According to the streamer, the new special centers on “what it means to grow up and turn 30” and sees Pete “discussing love, life, and living in the woods.”

After Paula Abdul accusations, producer Nigel Lythgoe is hit with another sexual assault lawsuit

Following Paula Abdul‘s lawsuit accusing Nigel Lythgoe of sexual assault, the So You Think You Can Dance and American Idol producer has now been hit with a second sexual assault lawsuit.

According to documents obtained by ABC News, two contestants from the 2003 ABC reality competition show All American Girl are alleging that Lythgoe made sexual advances toward them after they went to his house following the show’s wrap party.

While Abdul’s lawsuit was filed under California’s Sexual Abuse and Cover Up Accountability Act, the window for that closed on December 31. This new lawsuit was filed on January 2.

Abdul’s complaint was filed on December 29. According to court documents, Abdul accuses Lythgoe of groping and forcibly kissing her in an elevator during auditions for one of American Idol‘s early seasons. She also alleges that in 2015, he attempted to force himself on her while they were sitting together on a couch, and that he groped one of her assistants.

One of Abdul’s lawyers, Douglas L. Johnsonsaid in a statement, “Ms. Abdul should be commended for the immense courage required to take action against the type of abuse that was inflicted upon her.”

In a statement to TMZ, Lythgoe responded to Abdul’s suit by calling it “false” and “deeply offensive.”

“To say that I am shocked and saddened by the allegations made against me by Paula Abdul is a wild understatement. For more than two decades, Paula and I have interacted as dear — and entirely platonic — friends and colleagues,” Lythgoe’s statement continued.

He added, “I can’t pretend to understand exactly why she would file a lawsuit that she must know is untrue. But I can promise that I will fight this appalling smear with everything I have.”

Lythgoe has yet to respond to the new filing.

Final ‘Mean Girls’ trailer leans into musical roots

Paramount Pictures

The final trailer to the new Mean Girls movie is out, and unlike previous previews, it seems to lean more into its musical roots, as it was adapted from the stage musical of Tina Fey‘s 2004 hit.

While it doesn’t show any musical numbers, the new trailer, titled “Revenge Party” — itself a song title from the Broadway soundtrack — opens with Reneé Rapp seeming to solo in a hallway by singing, “My name is Regina George,” and shows a choreographed dance sequence at a party.

That said, the music-heavy trailer doesn’t show any singing from other cast members, including Fey, her fellow SNL vet Tim Meadows, and Angourie Rice as Lindsay Lohan‘s character Cady Heron.

It does show Meadows’ character, North Shore High School Principal Duvall, reading from the infamous “burn book,” and Busy Philipps as Regina’s self-described “cool mom,” succeeding Amy Poehler in the original film.

Also starring Jenna Fischer, Jon Hamm, Christopher Briney, Aaron Samuels and Auli’i Cravalho, Mean Girls hits theaters January 12.
