Ant-Man and the Wasp co-star Evangeline Lilly announced on her Instagram Monday she’s following a dream she had for herself back in 2006 to become a “retired actress.”

The Lost veteran joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Hope van Dyne in 2015’s successful Ant-Man, reprising her role in its hit 2018 sequel Ant-Man, The Wasp and Avengers: Endgame and, finally, the critical and commercial misfire Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania in 2023.

Lilly’s video was of herself back in 2006, in the heyday of Lost, in which she expressed her hopes for herself 10 years in the future.

“I am terrified to admit this to the rest of the acting world but ideally 10 years from now I’d like to be a retired actress and have a family,” the actress says in the video. “I’d like to be writing and influencing people’s lives in humanitarian ways.”

To her throwback post, Lilly wrote, “I am so filled with joy and contentment today as I live out my vision. Praise God, I feel so grateful for my blessings.”

She added, “Stepping away from what seems like the obvious choice (wealth and fame) can feel scary at times, but stepping into your dharma replaces the fear with fulfillment. I might return to Hollywood one day, but, for now, this is where I belong.”

She concluded, “A new season has arrived, and I AM READY…and I AM HAPPY.”

In addition to her time in the MCU, Lilly appeared as the elf Tauriel in Peter Jackson‘s The Hobbit trilogy, as well as in 2011’s Reel Steel opposite Hugh Jackman and the war drama The Hurt Locker.

Following reports that both its newly minted Oscar-winning star Cillian Murphy and show creator Steven Knight were willing to jump back into the world of Peaky Blinders, ABC Audio has confirmed it’s a done deal.

Murphy will return as gangster Tommy Shelby, the role he played over six seasons between 2013 and 2022, in a film for Netflix that was written by Knight and will be directed by series veteran Tom Harper.

Knight will co-produce the BBC Film co-production alongside Caryn Mandabach, Guy Heeley and Murphy.

The plot details for the 1900s-set project are still under wraps, but its producers tease it as an “epic continuation of the multi-award-winning gangster saga.”

Knight described it as “an explosive chapter in the Peaky Blinders story. No holds barred. Full on Peaky Blinders at war.”

Murphy enthused in the announcement, “It seems like Tommy Shelby wasn’t finished with me,” adding it is “very gratifying” to reunite with Knight and Harper.

Cillian added, “This is one for the fans.”

The movie will go into production later this year.

“In space, no one can hear you”: 20th Century Studios drops chilling new ‘Alien: Romulus’ trailer
L-R: Renaux, Spaeny – 20th Century Studios

20th Century Studios has launched a new trailer for its forthcoming Alien: Romulus, and it’s got all the hallmarks of producer Ridley Scott‘s 1979 classic and James Cameron‘s beloved 1986 sequel.

Fede Álvarez calls the shots this time around, bringing all of the claustrophobic horror of his micro-budgeted 2016 horror hit Don’t Breathe to the trailer for the film, which the studio claims is a trip back to the “roots” of the franchise.

“While scavenging the deep ends of a derelict space station, a group of young space colonizers come face to face with the most terrifying life form in the universe,” the logline teases.

The film’s cast includes Civil War‘s Cailee SpaenyIsabela Merced from The Last of UsAftersun‘s Spike Fearn, Shadow and Bone‘s Archie Renaux and newcomer Aileen Wu. The trailer touches on hallmarks of the previous pictures, including the ominous beeping of a motion tracker device and saving the reveal of the full-sized alien for as long as possible to build suspense.

Meanwhile, there’s a new scary twist. A pounding sound is heard throughout, until it is revealed it’s actually the sound of a chestburster trying to make its way out of the sternum of Wu’s character, who’s watching it happen in horror via a handheld X-ray type device.

The trailer closes with some scary images of the aliens hunting down the humans, but in silence. “In space, no one can hear you,” a title card reads, emulating the original’s iconic tagline, “In space, no one can hear you scream.”

Alien: Romulus invades theaters Aug. 16.

20th Century Studios is a division of ABC News’ parent company, Disney.

After a few flubs, Hilaria says, “We have an announcement to make,” prompting Alec to say, “Good God, no.”

“No, definitely not! We’re done having kids,” she replies.

“We’re inviting you into our home to experience the ups and downs, the good, the bad, the wild and the crazy,” Alec says amid clips of their romping children — Carmen Gabriela, 10; Rafael Thomas, 8; Leonardo Ángel Charles, 7; Romeo Alejandro David, 5; Eduardo “Edu” Pao Lucas and María Lucía Victoria, both 3; and Ilaria Catalina Irena, 19 months.

“Home is the place we love to be most,” he continues, explaining the show will air in 2025.

Alec continues, “And we’re coming to TLC! God help you all!”

Jeremy Renner reveals another big reason he turned down ‘Mission: Impossible – Fallout’

Marvel Studios

Jeremy Renner recently told Collider being away from his daughter, Ava, was the reason he turned down reappearing as William Brandt for Mission: Impossible – Fallout, but he just revealed there was another big reason.

In short, it was self-preservation — at least for his character.

“I remember they tried to bring me over[seas] for a week so they could kill my character, and I was like, ‘No, you don’t get to do that,'” Renner just told the Happy Sad Confused podcast.

“You’re not going to drag me over there and just kill my character, like get out of here,” Renner laughed. “If you’re going to do this and you’re going to use my character, you’re going to do it right.”

To Collider, he said he’d be open to returning to the franchise in the future now that his daughter is older, saying, “I’d always jump into a Mission: Impossible anytime and back into Brandt.”

To the podcast, Renner called Tom Cruise an inspiration for him, and revealed that one of the doctors who helped with Cruise’s speedy recovery after he shattered his ankle on a Fallout stunt actually helped him bounce back from his near-fatal snowplow accident in 2023.

Robert Downey Jr. says he’s “surprisingly open-minded” to returning as Iron Man

In the latest installment of Variety‘s Actors on Actors series, Oscar winners — and longtime friends — Jodie Foster and Robert Downey Jr. reflected on their friendship, their careers and, perhaps unexpectedly, whether or not Downey will someday put his Iron Man suit back on.

Downey’s Tony Stark sacrificed himself to save humanity and rid the galaxy of Thanos at the end of 2019’s blockbuster Avengers: Endgame, and the character’s loss has been felt in subsequent Marvel Cinematic Universe entries, including Spider-Man: No Way Home.

That said, following his Oppenheimer Oscar win, Downey has mentioned several times he’d be open to a return to the MCU — something he reiterated with Foster.

Foster, who told Elle in 2023 that the superhero genre “has lasted a little too long” for her taste, asked the actor, “Would you think of putting the suit back on again for Tony Stark?”

Downey replied, “It’s just crazily in my DNA. Probably the most like-me character I’ve ever played, even though he’s way cooler than I am. I’ve become surprisingly open-minded to the idea.”

For the record, while Downey seems optimistic about an MCU return, last year Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige told Vanity Fair about Stark’s sacrifice, “We are going to keep that moment and not touch that moment again. We all worked very hard for many years to get to that, and we would never want to magically undo it in any way.”

Marvel Studios is owned by Disney, the parent company of ABC News.

Tom Blyth talks complex characters, President Snow and ‘Billy the Kid’

Tom Blyth talks complex characters, President Snow and ‘Billy the Kid’
Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios Inc.

Tom Blyth stars as the American outlaw in MGM+’s drama series Billy the Kid, which just returned for part two of its second season.

The role is another tortured character for the actor, who also portrayed young President Coriolanus Snow in last year’s Hunger Games prequel film, The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Blyth told ABC Audio he’s drawn to such complex roles because of how different they are from himself.

“I think I generally move through the world with optimism and lightness. So, maybe I’m kind of looking for the opposite of how I feel in day-to-day life,” Blyth said. “I think people assume that you must be a dark, complex person yourself if you’re playing those people. But I don’t feel that way. I feel pretty simple.”

Blyth said his acting choices stem from his curiosity about understanding humanity better.

“I think I’m trying to understand all the aspects of humanity. Like, what we are when we’re our best self and our worst self and why we are capable of both,” Blyth said. “I think everybody is capable of both. Not everyone lives through both, but the people who do are incredible studies of humanity.”

Although the British actor was familiar with Western culture, he said it was a cowboy camp in Canada that fully prepared him to play the infamous outlaw.

“They just put us through our paces,” Blyth said. “We worked with real, real cowboys up there who live and breathe this stuff every day.”

So, what’s the toughest thing about preparing to play a cowboy?

“Honestly, the walk,” Blyth said. “The cowboys that I know through the show who I’ve met, they have a gravitas to them … it’s fascinating learning how your environment shapes the way you move, you know?”
