The psychotic superheroes are back for more depravity with season 4 of Prime Video’s Emmy-nominated hit The Boys.

The first three episodes of season 4 drop Thursday, and show creator Eric Kripke unpacked this season’s new supes and whether the show’s studios ever told them they went too far.

“I have almost never been told no from Sony, or Amazon at least,” Kripke revealed, mentioning the only sore spot had to do with Chace Crawford‘s fish-fetishizing supe, The Deep.

“Amazon, like more in a friendly way at the beginning of the year, said, ‘You know, can we lighten up on the octopus bestiality?'” Kripke says, before giggling, “Just because … apparently there’s legal, FCC standards or something about showing like too much bestiality. And I was like, ‘Fine!'”

This season, Antony Starr‘s Homelander finds a powerful new ally, Susan Heyward‘s Sister Sage — the smartest person in the world, according to the show.

Kripke says, “She comes out of this notion that someone brought up in the writers room of, you know, one of Homelander’s weaknesses is that he’s generally surrounded by morons. And if you actually paired him with someone who is legitimately brilliant, he would be a lot more dangerous.”

Another addition to the ranks is Valorie Curry‘s Firecracker, who Kripke says “reflects the sort of new phenomenon that you’ve seen come up in the last couple of years, the Marjorie Taylor Greene, Lauren Boebert, Kristi Noem, you know … like sort of highly sexualized, gun packing, ultra traditional, you know, conservative.”

Kripke continues, “It’s just sort of an odd personality type to me, this mixture of like shocking and really conservative at the same time.”

Will Ferrell‘s son Magnus is sharing one of the ways his dad has embarrassed him over the years.

The 20-year-old singer shared a throwback snap earlier this week as part of a viral TikTok photo trend in which users jokingly “rate” things their parents and family members have done.

In Magnus’ post, he shared an image of himself first with onscreen text that read, “Rating things my dad has done.”

Then, in a second slide, he revealed a throwback photo of him with his dad, in which the Anchorman actor is seen wearing a medieval costume.

“Dressed as a medieval lord to embarrass me at prom 10000/10,” he wrote in the onscreen text.

He added in the caption, “true story.”

In addition to Magnus, Will and his wife, Viveca Paulin, are also the parents of sons Mattias Paulin Ferrell, 17, and Axel Ferrell, 14. Over the years, all three sons have supported their dad at his various film premieres.

Over the weekend, Magnus and Axel stepped out with their dad at the Despicable Me 4 film premiere in New York City. And last year, all three of Will’s sons supported him at the Barbie European film premiere in London.

In the first installment of a two-part chat on Kelly Ripa‘s Let’s Talk Off Camera podcast, Goldie Hawn revealed one of the homes she shares with longtime partner, Kurt Russell, was robbed in 2020. Shortly after that, a home invader tried to break into the same residence — seemingly their home in the Pacific Palisades in California.

In the 2020 incident, both stars returned from a night out to find their bedroom ransacked. “I just lost it,” Goldie admitted. “They had broken in from the balcony to our bedroom, our closets, and they completely knocked down my door, which is a safe door, so they’re very, very sophisticated and they got a lot of my goodies, if you know what I mean.”

Goldie revealed that about four months after that, “I hear this big thump upstairs, and I was alone. Kurt wasn’t there and I went, ‘What the hell was that?’ It was just like, ‘Was that a sonic boom? Did somebody jump somewhere?'”

She added, “as it turned out, the next day we discovered that they were trying to get in my bedroom while I was in the house.”

Ripa replied, “That’s terrifying.”

Since then, the Death Becomes Her star revealed, “I’m never without a guard.”

The finale of the Disney+ series Loki‘s second season showed Tom Hiddleston‘s god of mischief making the ultimate sacrifice to essentially become the god of time, and it’s not known if he’ll be seen onscreen in any new adventures in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In a new Variety Actors on Actors conversation with Shōgun star Anna Sawai, Hiddleston looked back at the fan-favorite character he first played in 2011’s Thor. “I always saw Loki as a broken soul with a shattered heart, deeply damaged by the fact that he was unwanted,” the actor says.

“He’s mischievous and playful on the surface, but it’s masking all this pain.”

Hiddleston added, “What I’ve loved about this series is tracing my way back to that vulnerable soul and healing that damage. Showing that pain can be transformed into courage and strength.”

With that said, the performer described what it was like to say goodbye to the character.

“I just felt this wash of relief because it had been a very meaningful experience,” the actor said. “That sense of … the exhale,” he added, exhaling loudly. “It’s done.”

He recalled, “We actually finished — it was 2 or 3 in the morning — and I went around and said goodbye to the crew, and by the time I … got in my car and drove away, it was getting light. And it was amazing driving into the sunrise with it all in the rearview. It was like, ‘That’ll do, pig. That’ll do.'”

When asked if he still keeps a part of Loki with him, Hiddleston answered, “Always. It’s changed the whole course of my life, no question.”

In an extensive interview on Piers Morgan Uncensored, Kevin Spacey unpacked his life before and after sexual assault allegations derailed his Oscar-winning career.

Spacey was exonerated in courts in both the U.S. and the U.K., though he revealed to Morgan that through it all, Elton John and his husband, David Furnish, have stood by him.

“Elton was the first email I got on Oct. 30 of 2017 after the [Anthony] Rapp story had come out, saying, ‘We love you, whatever you need, we’re here for you.'”

The former House of Cards star also revealed he “didn’t ask” the pair to testify in his defense in the U.K. case, but they “insisted.”

“I told them a piece of information that one of the accusers had said about them, which was not true, and Elton and David said, ‘Well, we have to testify. … We have to let the jury know that this individual is not telling the truth.'”

The trio had a reunion last summer in France, Spacey recalled, calling their dinner together “very beautiful.”

That said, the actor also admitted to “being too handsy, touching someone sexually in a way that I didn’t know at the time they didn’t want,” saying, “I’m absolutely 150% prepared to take accountability for those … mistakes that I’ve made. Bad, bad, bad behavior sometimes.”

He vowed, “I will never behave in the way that I did previously. Ever.”

Spacey also says he’s been shunned by many in Hollywood. “Yeah, there are some people who definitely ran into the forest, but … I continually find myself very moved by people who take the time and to reach out to find out how I’m doing.”

Spacey also revealed the trials and the impact on his career have left him millions of dollars in debt, forcing his home into foreclosure.

Parents looking to ‘Dune’, ‘Bridgerton’ & more for baby name inspiration

Parents can take inspiration from anywhere when deciding what to name their babies, with pop culture a common source for many over the years. Well, this year seems to be no different.

According to BabyCenter, parents welcoming children in 2024 have been finding name inspiration in everything from fantasy epics to sports stars and more.

Pop culture-inspired names landing on BabyCenter’s list this year include Chani, Zendaya’s character in Dune, which went up 3,300 spots for girls, while the character’s secret Fremen name Sihaya made this year’s list for the first time. Another fantasy character, Percy from Percy Jackson and the Olympians fame, is up 296 spots for boys and 700 spots for girls, plus Perseus is up 206 spots for boys. And the show’s Greek gods, like Ares and Hermes, are also seeing an uptick.

Netflix’s Bridgerton is also a huge inspiration for parents this year, with names like Anthony, Eloise, Francesca and Gregory seeing a spike. Meanwhile, this season’s main character, Penelope, is a very popular name, at 33 on the list, while Charlotte, as in Queen Charlotte, is even more popular, landing at number five.

And it seems some parents are hoping to raise their very own superstar athletes, taking name inspiration from WBNA star Caitlin Clark. Once a popular name, Caitlin has been declining since 2000 — but following the basketball star’s rise, BabyCenter has seen double the amount of Caitlins registered, moving it up 1,599 spots for girls. Plus, Clark is also up 15 spots for boys.

Methodology and results have not been verified or endorsed by ABC News or The Walt Disney Company.

The third installment of the hit CG and live-action Paddington movies now has a trailer, and the promo for Paddington in Peru shows off some new friends for the cuddly bear in the red hat.

Once again, 007 movie player Ben Whishaw voices Paddington, who’s off to Peru to visit his beloved Aunt Lucy, who currently resides at the Home for Retired Bears. That’s where he meets Oscar and Emmy winner Olivia Colman, playing the nun who runs the facility.

When the Browns come knocking, however, Lucy’s not there. “I’m afraid she’s set off on some sort of quest deep in the jungle, and we have no idea where she is,” Colman’s Reverend Mother informs Paddington.

“Aunt Lucy found me when I was a cub, and now I have to find her,” he replies.

According to the producers, “With the Brown Family in tow, a thrilling adventure ensues when a mystery plunges them into an unexpected journey through the Amazon rainforest and up to the mountain peaks of Peru.”

Enter Antonio Banderas, who plays Hunter Cabot, a dashing river boat captain. “Smooth, strong, easy on the eyes, and that’s just the boat!” he boasts.

Downton Abbey‘s Hugh Bonneville again plays Mr. Brown, but Emily Mortimer now plays his missus, replacing Sally Hawkins in the role she played in the first two movies. Emmy and Oscar nominee Imelda Staunton again voices Aunt Lucy, while Oscar nominee Julie Walters reprises as Mrs. Bird.

Paddington in Peru opens in the U.S. Jan. 17, 2025.

‘Presumed Innocent’, starring Jake Gyllenhaal, debuts Wednesday on Apple TV+

‘Presumed Innocent’, starring Jake Gyllenhaal, debuts Wednesday on Apple TV+
Apple TV+

Jake Gyllenhaal plays a Chicago prosecutor on trial for murder in the new Apple TV+ drama Presumed Innocent. The first two episodes of the series based on Scott Turow‘s bestseller debut Wednesday.

The show hails from a guy who knows a thing or two about mining courtroom drama for television, David E. Kelley, the Emmy-winning writer-producer veteran of L.A. Law, The Practice and Boston Legal.

In 1990, Presumed Innocent was adapted into a film starring Harrison Ford in Gyllenhaal’s role: Rusty Sabich is a family man accused of brutally murdering his mistress, a crime he swears he didn’t commit.

“I think we’re always interested in legal drama, murder, sex, all of those things,” Gyllenhaal tells ABC Audio. “So, you know, it encompasses a lot of things that … humans are intrigued by.”

Does playing a legal eagle lead Gyllenhaal to think he has the chops to perform as a real-life lawyer? “There’s certain similarities” to his profession, Jake allows.

An attorney’s job is “in a lot of ways what you do as an actor,” he suggests. “I mean, someone gives you a story and then you try and find a path through it and then you try and contradict it.”

“The [courtroom] performance part is that,” he continues, before saying he’s “not smart enough” to be a lawyer in real life.

Actor O-T Fagbenle plays Rusty’s boss Nico. He tells ABC Audio he once flirted with the idea of becoming a lawyer — until he visited a courthouse for a few days as a teen. “It was so boring in there,” he laughs. “It’s not like the television at all.” He added, “I was like, this is not for me. I want to be a fake lawyer, Mom!”

Tony Hale, Liza Lapira on joining the emotional world of ‘Inside Out 2’

Disney/Pixar

Are you emotionally prepared for Inside Out 2?

The Pixar film comes to theaters Friday, and while Fear and Disgust may not be two of the new emotions protagonist Riley experiences in the movie, they do have new voice actors.

Tony Hale and Liza Lapira took over the roles previously played by Bill Hader and Mindy Kaling, and they told ABC Audio it’s surreal to be a part of the sequel film.

“I have such respect for this movie. The first one was one of my all-time favorite films, not just animated movies. And there is a little bit of imposter theory of like, am I going to match the expectation because I have such a reverence for it? Yeah. So there’s fear,” Hale said.

While Hale, who plays Fear, was already part of the Pixar family by having voiced Forky in Toy Story 4, this marks Lapira’s first time working with the animation studio.

“I haven’t processed it. I’ve tried to process it. It’s a very joyful thing,” Lapira, who plays Disgust, said. “It’s not just the Pixar of it all, but it’s the Inside Out of it all because it’s a very entertaining, fun film. It made me laugh and made me cry. But it’s also this really hyper-intelligent film on mental health.”

The movie follows a now-13-year-old Riley experiencing all of the new emotions puberty brings. So, which emotion ruled 13-year-old Hale’s brain?

“I think embarrassment,” Hale said. “Just that sense of like, ‘Oh, don’t do that, because that’s going to cause embarrassment.’ And just how uncomfortable he is all the time, Embarrassment, and just feeling out of place.”
