Will Smith and his Bad Boys director, Michael Bay, may be reuniting for the first time in more than 20 years on the upcoming Netflix action movie Fast and Loose.
Sources tell Deadline that Bay is in final negotiations to helm the film in which Smith is set to star.
Fast and Loose, per the outlet, “follows a man who wakes up in Tijuana with no memories. As he pieces together his past, he learns he’s been living two lives: one as a crime kingpin and the other as an undercover CIA agent.”
The film has reportedly been on Smith’s radar since the release of Bad Boys: Ride or Die, which earned $400 million worldwide.
Smith and Bay’s first collaboration, the original Bad Boys movie in 1995, marked Bay’s directorial debut and solidified Smith’s reputation as a bona fide box office star.
With Deadpool & Wolverine giving both heroes a billion-dollar Marvel Cinematic Universe debut, the online casinos comparison service KingCasinoBonus took a deep dive into which of its heroes have been the most profitable.
The company looked at box office receipts and also available merchandise on the Disney Store and Marvel’s official marketplace for Iron Man, Captain America and all their super-powered pals, grading each on a scale of 1 through 10.
Fittingly, billionaire playboy Tony Stark ended up on top.
Robert Downey Jr.’s run as Stark/Iron Man spans 10 films — including one cameo in 2009’s The Incredible Hulk — that earned more than $12 billion altogether. And the character’s merchandise sales make a mint, too.
Coming in second was Spider-Man. Tom Holland‘s run as the webslinger spanned six films, including a trilogy of his own, earning $9.86 billion. According to the analysis, Spidey leads the MCU in available merchandise, with 63 items available at those sites.
Third place belongs to Captain America. Chris Evans‘ run as the spangly hero generated $9.94 billion.
Their fellow Avengers Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Thor (Chris Hemsworth) ranked fourth and fifth on the list.
ScarJo’s character made nine MCU appearances, raking in more than $10 billion worldwide. But while she only has three items for sale on those official sites, they have a high average selling price of $154 per item.
Hemsworth’s God of Thunder has appeared in eight films that collectively earned a worldwide box office total of more than $10 billion, though his 15 available items average $45.

Netflix recently held a meeting with the top agents in Hollywood to discuss how stars are paid for their shows and myriad other important issues in the streaming-dominant present.
Peter Micelli, the co-founder of Range Media Partners, which boasts clients like Johnny Depp, Bradley Cooper and Anna Kendrick, among others, predicted the rise of streaming a decade ago and tells ABC Audio what he learned from the meeting.
“I was really quite pleased in terms of — to see what they’ve built to, you know, [to] understand that they’re now in 278 million homes globally, but approximately 600 million eyeballs. And you’re like, well it’s just a different platform because nobody can deliver that volume of eyeballs in one fell swoop.”
Micelli says it’s important for studios to find a balance between streaming content and movies released in theaters, as the hit Nicolas Cage film his company co-produced,Longlegs, was.
The horror thriller made more than double its production budget on its opening weekend in July. Amid super-budgeted superhero summer fare, its box office take kept climbing, to more than $108 million.
“The idea of getting out of the house and having an experience … is something we have to nurture and create … and theaters do that,” he comments.
“I think we’ve got to figure out the right alchemy of theater projects that will get people to want to be in a room with others, to watch and enjoy and feel the energy of it together,” he continues, saying the shared communal experience is “really good for culture.”
He enthuses, “The exciting thing about a Longlegs is it just proves when you do something good, people want to engage. … To make something great is so exceptional and it’s so exciting when that happens.”
Deadpool & Wolverine became the best first-day seller on streaming platform Fandango at Home on Oct. 1, and the Merc with a Mouth and his adamantium-infused frenemy have also topped the service’s streaming charts in its first week.
For the week of Sept. 30 through Oct. 6, the third Deadpool film took the top spot, followed by the James McAvoy-led thriller Speak No Evil in second place.
Third place, incidentally, went to the Deadpool 3-Movie Collection, while another bundle, the James Bond Collection, made the top 10 at #8.
Fourth place went to the Blake Lively aka Ladypool hit It Ends with Us, and Dave Bautista‘s The Killer’s Game rounded out the top five.
As reported, Alec Baldwin‘s controversial Western film Rust is making its world premiere at Toruń, Poland’s EnergaCAMERIMAGE Festival, which runs from Nov. 16 to Nov. 23.
The annual event is the most recognized festival dedicated to the art of cinematography and cinematographers, but some in that field are crying foul over promoting the film that led to the shooting death of its cinematographer Halyna Hutchins in 2021.
She was mortally wounded and director Joel Souza injured when a live bullet in the chamber of a Colt-style revolver being aimed by Baldwindischarged, striking both of them.
“I’m all for memorializing Halyna and her beautiful work but not by screening and thereby promoting the film that killed her,” replied Rachel Morrison, a veteran director of The Morning Show and The Mandalorian, and the cinematographer for Black Panther and other films.
Veteran cinematographer Bill Bennett noted, “Agreed. IMDB lists 31 credits for movies that Halyna shot as Cinematographer. Why not show one of those at the festival to honor her?”
“To promote and celebrate a film which took the life of its cinematographer is unthinkable,” expressed Kate Reid, who counts Apple TV+’s Silo and Game of Thrones among her credits.
Rings of Power and Peaky Blinders alum Laurie Rose called it “just appalling” and “mind-boggling,” adding in part, “you don’t [honor her] with the film that she didn’t survive … To even shine light on a production that was obviously a failure on so many levels is shameful.”
For what it’s worth, Hutchins’ mentor Stephen Lighthill is taking part in the post-screening Q&A, and at least one comment said that should be taken as a sign of support.
Speed star Keanu Reeves showed his need for speed on Saturday, making his professional auto racing debut at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Over the weekend the John Wick lead competed in the Toyota GR Cup — an amateur-focused series — alongside 32 other racers, though it didn’t have a checkered-flag Hollywood ending: He placed 25th in Race 1 on Saturday and finished in 24th place in Race 2 on Sunday.
On Saturday, Reeves spun out onto the grass on the exit of Turn 9 about halfway through the 45-minute race. However, he was able to re-enter the race after avoiding any collision or injury.
Reeves drove the No. 92 BRZRKR car to promote the graphic novel he co-wrote with China Miéville, titled The Book of Elsewhere. He was paired with Cody Jones from Dude Perfect as his teammate during Saturday’s race.
Leading up to the event, Indianapolis Motor Speedway teased a glimpse of the actor on the racetrack in a video posted on its official Instagram account.
“Keanu Reeves? Racing at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway?” the caption read with a googly-eye emoji. “Even movie stars have that itch to compete at the Racing Capital of the World.”
This isn’t the first time Reeves has been spotted on a racetrack. In 2019, he competed in a celebrity race during the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach, where he landed in first place.
Racing was also the theme of a series Keanu starred in and produced, Brawn: The Impossible Formula 1 Story, which is now streaming on Hulu and Disney+.

Selena Gomez is getting Oscar buzz for her role in the film Emilia Pérez, and she’s already won a few awards for the role. Now she’s added another one — from the French government.
Selena and her co-stars in the film were given an honor that translates to “Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters.” It’s a medal presented by the French Ministry of Culture in recognition of the recipient’s “works in the artistic or literary field or by the contribution they have made to the influence of Arts and Letters in France and throughout the world.”
As for why the cast of a Spanish-language film received the award, Emilia Pérez was shot in Paris, and it was written and directed by a Frenchman, Jacques Audiard.
Selena and the female cast members of Emilia Pérez previously collectively won the Best Actress award at the Cannes Film Festival in May. The film starts streaming on Netflix on Nov. 13.
