Lisa Kudrow on Tom Hanks’ movie ‘Here’: ‘An endorsement for AI’

Lisa Kudrow is sharing her thoughts on the artificial intelligence that was used in Tom Hanks‘ new film, Here.

While guesting on a recent episode of Dax Shepard‘s podcast Armchair Expert, the actress criticized the Robert Zemeckis-directed movie, which used technology to de-age Hanks and his costar, Robin Wright. The specific technology used was the Metaphysic Live tool from AI company Metaphysic, which edited Hanks and Wright to look younger without any additional VFX work.

“They shot it and they could actually shoot the scene and then look at the playback of them as younger and it’s ready for them to see,” Kudrow said. “All I got from that was, this is an endorsement for AI and oh my God.”

Kudrow went on to say that it’s “not like it’s going to ruin everything,” but also questioned what could come next from using this sort of technology.

“What will there be left for, forget actors, but what about up-and-coming actors? They’ll just be licensing and recycling,” Kudrow said. “What work will there be for human beings?”

Finally, she expressed one last question about AI.

“And then what, so there’ll be some kind of living stipend for people?” Kudrow asked. “How can it possibly be enough?”

Florence Pugh isn’t letting anything or anyone change who she is.

In an interview with The Times published on Sunday, the actress talked about living life unapologetically and opened up about how “exhausting” it is for women to be in the film industry.

“There are fine lines women have to stay within, otherwise they are called a diva, demanding, problematic,” Pugh said. “And I don’t want to fit into stereotypes made by others.”

When it comes to beauty standards in film and television, Pugh said she recalls the “godawful headlines” about actresses like Keira Knightley and their appearance, despite their talent.

“The only thing people want to talk about is some useless crap about how they look,” she said.

Still, she added, “Look, not everybody has legs that go on for days. I remember watching this industry and feeling that I wasn’t represented.”

The conversations around how women look in the film industry inspired Pugh to not give into the negative comments or change the way she looked to fit in.

“I wanted to challenge how women were perceived, how we are supposed to look,” she said. “Actually I wasn’t trying to challenge. I just wanted to be there, to make space for a version of a person that isn’t all the things they used to have to be.”

In the past, Pugh has called out trolls for criticizing her looks or her fashion choices. In 2022, after wearing a pink, see-through Valentino gown to a fashion show, she took to Instagram and told those commenting on her body to “grow up” and “respect all women.”

Pugh said she’s “proud” that she’s “stuck by myself” over the years “and look the way I look.”

On Monday, ABC dropped a promo for season 29 of the reality dating series, in which Ellis reintroduces himself to Bachelor Nation ahead of the season’s Jan. 27 premiere.

“I’m Grant, and I’m your new Bachelor,” he says. “I’m a New Jersey boy, a mama’s boy, I’m a day trader, I’m an athlete. I’m really a goofball.”

“I’m looking for love. I want a wife. I’m searching for that happiness,” he continues. “To get what you want out of life, you have to take a chance. Love is a choice. Love is hard. But ultimately, the hardest things have the biggest reward.”

As the clip comes to a close, Ellis adds, “Let the journey begin!”

In a video message to Good Morning America following the announcement, Ellis revealed what he is looking for in a wife.

“I’m looking for a love that’s kind and understanding. Some qualities I’m looking for in a potential partner is somebody who’s adventurous, somebody who’s affectionate and somebody who’s loving,” he said at the time. “I can’t wait for this incredible journey to get kicked off. It’s going to be so fun, and I hope you guys tune in. Peace!”

The Bachelor season 29 premieres Jan. 27 on ABC and streams the next day on Hulu.

It’s time to check-in for The White Lotus season 3.

The new teaser trailer for the third season of the popular HBO and Max series dropped on Monday, and it finds its cast arriving at a White Lotus resort in Thailand.

There is one familiar face amongst the brand-new cast: Natasha Rothwell, who played spa manager Belinda Lindsey in season 1 of the show, returns for this season.

“I’m on an exchange program,” Rothwell’s Belinda says in the trailer. “I’m starting to feel like something good is going to come out of this.”

Parker Posey, Michelle Monaghan, Leslie Bibb, Dom Hetrakul, Jason Isaacs, Walton Goggins, Aimee Lou Wood, Tayme Thapthimthong, Sarah Catherine Hook, Sam Nivola and Patrick Schwarzenegger make up the rest of the star-studded cast.

BLACKPINK‘s Lisa also has a role this season. She seems to play an employee at the White Lotus, as she introduces guests to the resort at the beginning of the trailer.

The season’s tagline is “seeking peace can be a trip.” Scenes from the trailer show off characters relaxing at a spa and seeking out stress management mediation sessions.

However, in classic The White Lotus fashion, there seems to be danger that comes with paradise.

“I almost died today! But we got the room comped, didn’t we babes? That was cool,” Wood’s character tells Goggins’ character in the trailer.

“Yeah, you did a great job, babe,” he replies.

The White Lotus season 3 premieres Feb. 16 on Max.

Kelly Reilly, Luke Grimes and more are saying goodbye to Yellowstone.

Several cast members took to social media to mark the end of the series — co-created, written and often directed by Taylor Sheridan — as it aired its final episode on Sunday, Dec. 15.

Reilly, who played Beth Dutton, shared a post on Instagram, writing in the caption, “Whatever the future holds this is the ending of the show we have been making for the past 7 years. Words cannot convey how I feel about the people I got to work and create with over the seasons. I have made true life long friends.”

“The support from the crew and the trust and dedication of the cast. The words I got to say and the woman I got to inhabit. It changed me. It lit me up. It challenged me in every way possible and I will forever be grateful for it,” she added.

Reilly ended with a message to the show’s fans, writing, “Thank you the audience we made it for, for being on this journey with us. We really cared about making something special for you all.”

Grimes kept his message short and sweet as he bid farewell to his character, Kayce Dutton, and the show.

“End of an era,” he wrote in an Instagram post. “Goodbye Kayce. You are a better man than I. To my yellowstone family, thank you for the experience of a lifetime.”

Kelsey Asbille, who played Kayce’s wife, Monica, reflected on her onscreen partnership with Grimes.

“To share the screen with Luke over these past 7 years was such a dream,” she wrote in the caption of an Instagram post.

Yellowstone aired for five seasons between 2018 and 2024, and has spawned several spinoffs and created a television universe.

Legendary film and television actor Dick Van Dyke is giving credit to neighbors and other good Samaritans for helping him escape a raging wildfire in Malibu, California.

In an interview with Los Angeles ABC station KABC, the Mary Poppins star reflected on the close call as he wrestled with a fire hose and grew tired before neighbors and good Samaritans saved him before the Franklin Fire closed in on his home last week.

“I have a fire hose, which I put in the pool, and it makes a nice big stream,” he told KABC. “I got it out and it was in snarls, and I’m down on the ground wrestling with this thing, trying to get it undone and the fire is coming over the hill … I didn’t realize, but I had exhausted myself.”

“I couldn’t get up. They had to pick me up and carry me to the car,” Van Dyke said. He said the group also put out the fire, which was burning his guest house.

“They saved my house and my life, these guys. Otherwise, I wouldn’t even be here,” he said.

In the interview with KABC, Van Dyke also discussed his 99th birthday, which he celebrated on Friday, sharing that the secret to his long and prosperous life is to avoid being hateful. “Haters don’t live very long,” he said.

“The funny thing is I’ve never met a 99-year-old person, so I don’t know how to behave. How do you act when you’re 99?” he joked.

Van Dyke was one of about 20,000 people under evacuation as the Franklin Fire swept the coastal community beginning Monday, Dec. 9. As of Sunday, the more than 4,000-acre fire was 42% contained and had destroyed at least nine structures, including four homes, and damaged six additional homes, officials said.
