‘The Wilderness’ shines a light on controversial outdoor youth camps

A new movie called The Wilderness aims to highlight the world of outdoor youth camps.

The industry, which claims to help teenagers struggling with addiction and other issues through rigorous outdoor activity, has sparked backlash over its lack of regulation, with critics saying the camps endanger minors.

“I think for the film, it’s just really spreading awareness, and making people be aware that there are camps like this that exist. I’m sure there are some really great ones, but a lot of them are unregulated,” star Lamar Johnson told ABC Audio.

Johnson said he wasn’t aware of the issue until coming across the script for The Wilderness.

“I read the script and I discovered it in the story. I thought it was just that — a story,” Johnson said. “Then I connected with the director/writer, Spencer King, and he told me that he himself actually went through one of these programs.”

Johnson, who starred in HBO’s The Last of Us, appears as a camp attendee alongside a character played by Hunter Doohan, best known for his role on Netflix’s Wednesday.

“The collaboration with everyone and the camaraderie that we all built together, collectively as a cast, I think is — it was beautiful,” Johnson said.

Part of that camaraderie, he adds, came from filming in beautiful but often grueling desert environments.

“We spent a night outdoors, as they would. We kind of were in this cave, kind of, this kind of cove, and we spent the night under the stars,” Johnson said. “It really allowed us to just live in that headspace while we were shooting.”

In addition to spreading awareness of wilderness camps, Johnson said he hopes audiences leave with empathy for the teens involved.

“You know a lot of these kids are ‘troubled,’ but I think they’re more so misunderstood,” Johnson said.

Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster were all smiles as they made their red carpet debut in Los Angeles on Sunday night.

The duo arrived at the Song Sung Blue premiere together and posed for photos on the carpet at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. They coordinated in matching black attire.

The pair’s first red carpet appearance together comes five months after Jackman’s ex-wife, Deborra-Lee Furness, filed for divorce from him.

The former couple, who were married for 27 years, announced their separation in September 2023.

Furness opened up to People earlier this year following her divorce filing, describing the breakup as a “betrayal” and calling it “a profound wound that cuts deep.”

Furness and Jackman finalized their divorce in June 2025. The former couple share two children, Oscar Maximilian Jackman and Ava Eliot Jackman.

Foster and Jackman starred in the Broadway musical The Music Man in 2021. During their time on the show, they each shared moments from rehearsals and more on social media.

In January 2022, Foster shared a series of photos of her and Jackman on Instagram, captioning the post, “A dream to be dancing with Hugh every night in the Music Man.”

Jackman took to X in December 2021 to share a video of him dancing with Foster in rehearsals, captioning the post, “There are hundreds of people who’ve made this moment happen. But there’s one in particular I pay tribute to — @sfosternyc. this show is nothing without you. You’re an exceptional talent and friend.”

Jackman’s latest film, Song Sung Blue, follows the real-life story of a Milwaukee husband and wife Neil Diamond tribute act.

Good Morning America has reached out to reps for Jackman and Foster for comment.

Sydney Sweeney thinks the rumors that she was romantically linked to Glen Powell originated because of the press.

The actress spoke about the frenzy that surrounded the speculation that she had an affair with Powell during the filming and press tour for their 2023 rom-com Anyone But You in a recent interview with Variety.

“Honestly, the press did it themselves. There was no leaning in, per se,” Sweeney said. “Truly the tabloids and journalists just created it and kept going. Even if we were just standing next to each other, it was ‘They’re standing two inches apart!'”

Sweeney said the speculation came about because people enjoyed how she and Powell “genuinely care for each other and have a love and respect for one another.”

“I love being with him. And I think people just truly saw a really beautiful pairing,” the actress continued.

These comments differ from Powell’s assessment of the situation, which he spoke about in an interview with The New York Times in April 2024.

Powell told the outlet that both “fun and chemistry” are necessary to sell rom-coms.

“That’s people wanting what’s on the screen off the screen, and sometimes you just have to lean into it a bit — and it worked wonderfully,” Powell said. “Sydney is very smart.”

Some familiar voices are joining the cast of Zootopia 2.

Walt Disney Animation Studios released the international trailer for its upcoming sequel film on Monday. The trailer release comes the same day that tickets for the film went on sale.

Along with the new trailer, the animation studio announced that several of their celebrated voice actors, including stars of Moana, Frozen, The Princess and the Frog and Encanto, will make voice cameos in the new movie.

Zootopia 2 writer and director Jared Bush spoke about including members of the Disney Animation family in this new film.

“From the beginning, Easter eggs and winks to our favorite films and characters have been a hallmark of the world of Zootopia. We are ecstatic that Zootopia 2 expands our Zootopia family to include even more members of our extended Disney family, filled with dear friends and true Disney Legends,” Bush said.

Moana stars Dwayne Johnson and Auliʻi Cravalho are set to voice Zeke and the anti-venom pen in the film. While Zeke is an accident-prone dik-dik who meets with a musical mishap as a result of Judy and Nick’s high-speed pursuit gone awry, the anti-venom pen is the antidote for pit viper Gary De’Snake’s venom.

Frozen star Josh Gad is set to voice Paul Moledebrandt, who is an ornery mole and the Zootopia Police Department’s IT expert. The Princess and the Frog star Ankia Noni Rose is set to play the Squeal of Fortune mouse, who is the lucky winner of an almost-new car on Zootopia’s favorite game show, Squeal of Fortune.

As for the stars of Encanto, Stephanie Beatriz and Wilmer Valderrama are playing hippo ZPD cops Bloats and Higgins, while John Leguizamo voices Antony, a smarmy anteater and smuggler who bolts at the first sign of trouble.

Zootopia 2 opens in theaters on Nov. 26.

Disney is the parent company of ABC News and Walt Disney Animation Studios.

The odds were ever in his favor.

Lionsgate has announced that Devon Singletary is the fan selected to appear in The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.

Back in May, Lionsgate announced an open casting call for fans of the dystopian young adult franchise to act out their favorite moment, sing their favorite song or improv a scene for the chance to be selected to appear in the upcoming sixth film in The Hunger Games franchise.

Singletary will play the character Blair, a close friend of Haymitch Abernathy and Burdock Everdeen, who is Katniss Everdeen’s father.

The Florida-based actor’s reaction to being selected was captured in a video shared to the official The Hunger Games Instagram account on Friday.

“I’m blown away,” Singletary said. “I’m really just speechless. I’m super excited.”

The video also shows off Singletary’s first day on set.

“I love the Sunrise on the Reaping book,” he said. “Being selected into The Hunger Games is a great honor.”

Joseph Zada leads the film’s star-studded ensemble cast that includes Whitney Peak, Mckenna Grace, Jesse Plemons, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Maya Hawke, Ralph Fiennes, Elle Fanning, Glenn Close, Billy Porter and Kieran Culkin.

The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping is based on Suzanne Collins‘ novel of the same name. It revisits the world of Panem almost 25 years before the events of the original book and film saga. Francis Lawrence is directing the film from a screenplay by Billy Ray.

The novel begins on the morning of the 50th annual Hunger Games, when Haymitch Abernathy is chosen to compete in the deadly arena. Haymitch eventually wins the games, as he goes on to be the mentor for Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark.

The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping arrives in theaters on Nov. 20, 2026.

Paul Schrader is making his thoughts on the use of AI in Hollywood known.

In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, the 79-year-old filmmaker said he is ready to embrace using artificial intelligence to make movies.

Schrader said that in his opinion, movies are “going to be more and more AI,” and that he thinks “we’re only two years away from the first AI feature.”

He continued, “I was just on the phone with someone today about a script I had, and I said, ‘You know, this would be a perfect script to do all AI.’”

The director and Taxi Driver writer told the outlet he believes AI is “just a tool” filmmakers will be able to use.

“When you’re an author, you have to describe someone’s reaction. You use a code — you use a code of words, a certain number of letters, and so forth, and you express their facial reaction,” Schrader said. “An actor has their own code. Well, now you’re a pixelator, and you can create the face, and you can create the emotion on the face, and you can sculpt it the same way an author sculpts the reaction in a novel or a story.”

Schrader also said AI could be used in the place of journalists who write film reviews.

“AI does better coverage than the average coverage. And AI doesn’t have to favor anybody,” Schrader said. “Often, when you’re doing coverage, you get a hint that the person who’s paying you wants you to like this. You can’t give that information to AI.”

What, like it’s hard?

Kim Kardashian has revealed an update on her ambitions of being a qualified lawyer. In an interview on The Graham Norton Show on Friday, the reality TV star said that she will receive the results of her bar exam within the next two weeks.

“I will be qualified in two weeks. I hope to practice law. Maybe in 10 years, I think I’ll give up being Kim K and be a trial lawyer. That’s what I really want,” Kardashian said.

Kardashian appeared on the talk show to promote season 1 of her upcoming Hulu series All’s Fair. She spoke on what her hopes are for the future of her entertainment career.

“I have a few projects coming up — I film my first movie in January, and we are hoping for a season 2 of All’s Fair,” Kardashian said. “I always want to be growing, curious and evolving, and I want to see wherever that takes me.”

While Kardashian never attended college, she started an apprenticeship at a law firm in San Francisco, California, in 2018. She then took the First-Year Law Student’s Examination, also known as the “baby bar,” in 2021. This March she took the Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam (MPRE), which is a mandatory test one must complete to practice law in California.

Kardashian was asked by Norton how she juggles all of her projects — from her acting roles, to her law aspirations, and her business empire. She said there was a learning curve at first.

“I’ve learned you can. It was mentally challenging having to do it all, but I loved it,” Kardashian said.
