Johnny Cage is back for more.

Warner Bros. Pictures has released the official trailer for Mortal Kombat II.

The trailer, which debuted on Thursday, shows off what fans can expect from the next film installment based on the popular video game franchise. This time around, fan-favorite champions are pitted up against each other and joined by Johnny Cage himself.

Karl Urban stars as Johnny Cage in the film, which follows “the ultimate, no-holds barred, gory battle to defeat the dark rule of Shao Kahn that threatens the very existence of the Earthrealm and its defenders,” according to an official synopsis.

“I’m not some champion. I don’t have Transformer arms or shoot lightning bolts. This s***’s got nothing to do with me,” Johnny says in the trailer. “I’m an actor.”

Simon McQuoid returns to the franchise to direct the sequel to his 2021 film. Jeremy Slater wrote the screenplay based on the video game created by Ed Boon and John Tobias.

Adeline Rudolph, Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, Ludi Lin, Mehcad Brooks, Tati Gabrielle, Lewis Tan and Damon Herriman also star in the film.

Mortal Kombat II arrives in movie theaters and IMAX screens on Oct. 24.

The official trailer for Tron: Ares has arrived.

Disney released the trailer for the third film in the Tron film series on Thursday. The trailer shows off the highly sophisticated artificial intelligence program called Ares.

Jared Leto stars as Ares, who is sent from the digital world into the real world in what is humankind’s first encounter with A.I. beings. Ares enters the world we know and sets out on a dangerous mission.

“Since time began, man has gazed at the stars and he has wondered, ‘Am I alone?'” Evan Peters‘ Julian Dillinger says in the trailer. “So much talk of A.I. in big tech today. Virtual worlds, what are they going to look like, when will we get there? Well folks, we’re not going there. They are coming here.”

Peters’ Julian then introduces Ares as “the ultimate soldier” who has super strength, lighting fast speed, extreme intelligence and the ability to regenerate if struck down.

The trailer also features a brief look at Jeff Bridges‘ Kevin Flynn, who appeared in the first two films in the series.

“A malfunctioning program who wants to live. Why is that?” Bridges says to Ares in the trailer.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales director Joachim Rønning helmed the film, which has music by Nine Inch Nails.

The Grammy-winning rock band consisting of Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross composed the score and put together the Tron: Ares Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, which releases on Sept. 19. The soundtrack’s first single, “As Alive As You Need Me To Be,” features in the trailer and is available as of Thursday.

Greta Lee, Hasan Minhaj, Jodie Turner-Smith, Arturo Castro, Cameron Monaghan and Gillian Anderson also star.

Tron: Ares comes to theaters on Oct. 10.

One of the most popular video game franchises is getting a series adaptation.

Netflix has greenlit a live-action TV series adaptation based on Assassin’s Creed.

The TV show will be a high-octane thriller about “the secret war between two shadowy factions — one set on determining mankind’s future through control and manipulation, while the other fights to preserve free will,” according to its official logline. “The series follows its characters across pivotal historical events as they battle to shape humanity’s destiny.”

The Assassin’s Creed video game franchise arrived in 2007 from the video game publisher Ubisoft. This upcoming show is nearly five years in the making, becoming the first series developed under Netflix’s agreement with Ubisoft.

Emmy nominees Roberto Patino and David Wiener created the series, and will serve as showrunners and executive producers.

“We’ve been fans of Assassin’s Creed since its release in 2007. Every day we work on this show, we come away excited and humbled by the possibilities that Assassin’s Creed opens to us,” Patino and Wiener said in a joint statement. “Beneath the scope, the spectacle, the parkour and the thrills is a baseline for the most essential kind of human story — about people searching for purpose, struggling with questions of identity and destiny and faith.”

More than anything, however, the show’s creators say Assassin’s Creed is about the value of human connection across time.

“And it’s about what we stand to lose as a species, when those connections break. We’ve got an amazing team behind us with the folks at Ubisoft and our champions at Netflix, and we’re committed to creating something undeniable for fans all over the planet,” Patino and Wiener said.

Assassin’s Creed is one of the bestselling series in video game history with over 230 million units sold, according to Netflix.

An animal lover becomes an animal herself in the teaser trailer for Hoppers.

Pixar released the first trailer for the upcoming animated movie on Wednesday.

The new movie follows Mabel, voiced by Piper Curda, an animal lover who takes advantage of the opportunity to try new technology that allows her to communicate with animals.

In the trailer, scientists have discovered how to insert human consciousness into lifelike, robotic animals that have the ability to communicate with other animals.

“Using the new technology, Mabel will uncover mysteries within the animal world that are beyond anything she could have imagined,” according to an official description from Pixar.

“We’ve done it, Mabel. After years of work, this revolutionary technology gives us unprecedented access to the animal world,” a scientist says in the trailer.

“So, let me get this straight. You created a fake animal which makes the other animals think you’re an animal?” Mabel says back. “Guys, this is like Avatar!”

Daniel Chong directs the film, which also features the voices of Bobby Moynihan and Jon Hamm.

In a press release, Chong said the film asks what would happen if humans could really understand the animal world.

“Our main character, Mabel, gets to discover the animal kingdom as an animal, which can be weird and often hilarious,” Chong said. “Mabel undercover in the animal world leads to a wild, roller coaster ride of a movie, with all the heart you expect from a classic Pixar film. It’s going to be so much fun to watch in the theater; I can’t wait for everyone to see it.”

Hoppers hops into theaters on March 6, 2026.

It’s a bird … it’s a plane … it’s Supergirl.

The co-head of DC Studios James Gunn has shared the first look at the upcoming film Supergirl.

Gunn shared a poster featuring Milly Alcock in costume as Supergirl sipping a blue raspberry-flavored Icee to his Instagram.

The poster has the Supergirl logo plastered on a blue wall with the words “LOOK UP” written over it. The word “up” has been graffitied over with the word “OUT” in red spray paint.

“Look Out. 2026,” Gunn captioned the post, which he collaborated on with Alcock.

Craig Gillespie directs the superhero film about Clark Kent’s cousin Kara Zor-El. It will be the second film in the DC Universe after Gunn’s own Superman, which was released on July 11.

While this is the first officially released glimpse of Alcock in costume as Supergirl, moviegoers who saw Superman in theaters were already treated to her take on the character. A mid-credits scene in Gunn’s recent movie featured Alcock making her grand entrance on the big screen as the iconic character.

Matthias Schoenaerts, Eve Ridley, David Krumholtz and Emily Beecham are also set to star in the upcoming Supergirl film.

Supergirl flies into theaters on June 26, 2026.
